And in a bit of a newsflash, everybody is already getting one EXTRA RGG class, because one of our backers has also personally sponsored the Armiger class into the land of mythic!
Same as adopting a monster - $200 as a base add-on, though the upper-tier backers get one sponsorship half price - and you get included an art print of the illustration that goes with the class as well as being listed as its sponsor.

Oh, and by the way, MYTHIC MAGIC ITEMS!!!

Not only did I get all the hardbacks and am thinking of sponsoring a rogue talent if it doesn't end up in the book, but this also made me go and buy Deep Magic yesterday once I realized I didn't have it.
It looks like your diabolical plan is coming to fruition. I hope you're happy.
No, no, no, never diabolical. Always beatific!
At least, that's what we want you to think.... muahahaaa! :)

Quick question! I know the estimated delivery is at May 2015 - is that for the print books? Will the pdfs be released to backers sooner? If so, when?
I know this is a MASSIVE undertaking, with a LOT of companies working together to coordinate, but "Before Ronnie's group finishes Kingmaker and starts Wrath of the Righteous" would be the best answer possible ;-)
(Though my group hasn't even fought the Stag Lord yet, so the first part of that equation is a ways off...)
Jason Nelson RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4; Contributor; Publisher, Legendary Games |
The PDFs will be released to backers sooner (my guess, around the end of February, beginning of March), and in fact having learned lessons from other Kickstarters we are quite intentional about making sure the PDFs go out to backers before we send in the final print order. No matter how great your writers and editors are, there is always something that gets missed, and a couple of hundred pairs of eyes will hopefully catch it.

It is a massive undertaking, but I'm proud to be part of it.
I don't think Jason actually answered the May 2015 question; my educated guess is that yes, that's for the print books.
Yes, May 2015 is the estimated delivery window for the print books, with PDFs hopefully around the end of February 2015.
By the way, you can catch Wolfgang and I talking Mythic Mania with Erik Frankhouse on the Refresh and Reload podcast here!

Do the psionic monsters at 51000 have anything to do with the psionic dragons in playtest now, or are they the monsters from ultimate psionics?
So far I haven't been terribly interested in the ACG, so I'm not all that excited about the 52, 54, and 55k stretch goals. Definitely looking forwards to 50k, 51k, 53k, and 56k, but I'm worried we won't make it all the way to Deep Mythic Complete.

I'm confused, the 52 and 54k goals are more mythic magic items and 55k is mythic monsters from Aberrations.
I see nothing about the Advanced Class Guide...

...they were different when I looked earlier today? Weird. I like what I see now more than I liked what I saw four hours ago, so...yay?
Almost at Mythic Monstrous Humanoids. Monstrous Humanoids were among the first requests I made when the Mythic Monster series was first announced...
I was stretching for Mythic Monstrous Humanoids...BEFORE THEY WERE COOL!

They are indeed different from what they were originally posted as, which I discussed in today's update.
The relevant paragraph is:
I've revised a few of the goals past that mark [the $48,000 HeroLab goal], because while I'm excited about the possibilities in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Advanced Class Guide, as a businessman I also don't want to make promises about working with content sight unseen in both amount and implementation. I think it's a better idea to let those classes play out a bit and see what they do in their final form in actual play before trying to jump in and modify them. People have asked about archetypes and prestige classes, and perhaps future update project for MYTHIC MANIA could be to do a classes book where we take on mythic versions of the Advanced Class Guide material as part of a comprehensive dive into classes. For now, though, we are going to focus on expanding what we are offering in known commodities, monsters and magic items, and the last of DEEP MAGIC!

Hey, couple questions.
1) Is it possible to sponsor a mythicized archetype?
2) If so, how much would it cost?
3) Oh, and what would the possible sources for said archetype be? Just Paizo, or would Legendary, Rogue, Genius, Dreamscarred, and Kobold archetypes also be available?
4) If Paizo archetypes are permitted, would they have to be from a hardcover, or would anything from d20pfsrd work?
Thanks!

What would a Mythic Archetype even look like, as compared to a 'regular' archetype?
'Mythic' is not a class in-and-of itself; there are Mythic Paths, but the base character still has his/her class (with or sans archetype), and the Mythic Path & Path abilities either give new add-on's, or ramp up existing things the class already possesses. How would one even go about selecting a Mythic Archetype? Would this be something that redefines a Mythic Path? By their very nature they are considerably flexible, allowing players to custom-build their Mythic character with a plethora of options available.
What is your vision of a Mythicized Archetype? Something that tailors and boosts certain abilities found only in a certain (non-mythic) Archetype?
Jason Nelson RPG Superstar 2008 Top 4; Contributor; Publisher, Legendary Games |
We are not planning to do archetypes and prestige classes in this project, if only because it opens such a vast can of worms. There are so many out there that it would be a big chunk to include, and we have an awful lot of big chunks already.
I think it's entirely possible we might do a future project including archetypes and prestige classes with updates of the material from the forthcoming Advanced Class Guide, but that's a project for another day.

And TWO MORE bonus goals breached! Check out the latest update for:
1. Complete HeroLab conversion for the Mythic Hero's Handbook!
2. Mythic constructs!
3. Mythic drugs, alcohol, addiction, and insanity!
4. And now less than $1000 away from the mysterious $50,000 goal!
You guys are amazing, and we have a whole final weekend to go!

The Paypal backers only amount to a few hundred dollars, so it's not a huge amount in the grand scheme but does get us to pledge goals a little faster than the official counter reflects (since they don't take Paypal pledges we just add the amount on after the fact, and people can vote in backer polls and we count them.

While I'm loath to draw away from the majesticism of the 50k secret stretch, I'd like to ask: what classes can be sponsored for mythicism? Just Rogue Genius, or would New Paths classes also be viable?
I'd give a tentative yes on New Paths classes, but that's Marc Radle's baby and I'd check with him. Send me the class you'd like to sponsor and I'll ask Marc if he's willing to make it happen.
As for the $50,000 update (and I'd better start writing the $51,000 as well, since we're almost there!), I'm writing it up but it may take a bit, and I'm heading out to dinner shortly with the wife who is just back in town from a week-long series of business trips, so if I don't get the super-secret update out tonight it's not that I'm being a tease and making you wait; it's just just because family comes first and a happy wife is a happy life. Can I get an amen? :)
One way or the other, I'll have it out as soon as I can!

As one of the 'number of backers' goals, some of the New Paths classes are going to be added already. I'm pretty sure that if you wanted to sponsor one extra on top of that, no one would complain. Or at least, *I* certainly won't complain!
EDIT: Ninja'd!

Marc has replied with the thumbs up, with the caveat that he'd like to stick to the classes that he wrote: battle scion, white necromancer, shaman, theurge, spell-less ranger (and skin-changer).
If you want to sponsor another New Paths class, go for it ($200 regular sponsorship, $100 obviously if you get it half off).

Serious thanks to everybody out there who is backing this project! I posted up the Legendary Planet announcement last night about midnight. It's about 7:40 in the morning, and in the intervening time we added almost 20 backers and over $3,500 in new funding in less than 8 hours! This will probably end up a bigger day in terms of money than our opening day or the day the three print books unlocked.
You guys are killing me! I go to bed we are in the mid-51's, and now we're over $55,000 with our Paypal backers. Updates are coming as soon as I can get to them. Should get one up this morning, but I'm heading out to see Spider-Man 2 and going to a birthday party after, so I may not get back to the computer until this evening. You just keep on being awesome and I'll catch up!
YOU ROCK!!!

I'd rather get the new paths than Mythic versions of the Golarion stuff, honestly.
Agreed. I really like the new path stuff. The Golorion stuff seems like...well, padding to surround Golarion. I'm still really hoping to get to Deep Mythic, wondrous items, and (much less likely) the new mythic paths at 66k.

Mr. Davies over in the RPGNet thread is wondering how exactly you can even do the Golarion stuff. I assume with blatantly obvious renaming, such as happens in the SRD?
EDIT: Speaking of Golarion stuff: Mythic Obedience Feats. Just a suggestion.
Yep, blatantly obvious renaming is the key to everything. :)

Taken together, these books promise to serve up a broad array of possibilities across every element of the game where mythic can introduce something new to your game...i.e., stuff which even long-term, experienced players won't be able to anticipate. So, personally, I think it's well worth the investment. It should really broaden the possibilities at your gaming table. Hopefully, like-minded folks come out to support us in a big way. And, additionally, by doing so, you can also incent more 3PP team-ups like this in the future.
But that's just my two cents,

Sorry, Messrs. Spicer and Nelson, but as a freelancer and potential 3PP myself, after the hassle and heartbreak I've had over Deep Magic, I'm opting out of this KS.

Hi Alex,
I'm not privy to Kobold's policy decisions nor qualified to comment on them, but I'm sorry your disappointment with how things turned out with Deep Magic turned you off to future KS opportunities where they were involved. I can't make any absolute statements about the OGL on products that aren't even written yet (i.e., the MYTHIC MANIA rulebooks), but I feel pretty safe in saying that in books that are going to be pretty much wall-to-wall crunch and rules, the vast majority will be Open Content.
If your intention is to avoid purchasing products that involve Kobold Press, you could skip the purchase of the Mythic Spell Compendium (which is co-branded with Kobold Press and Legendary Games) and still purchase the Mythic Monster Manual and Mythic Hero's Handbook. I think you'd be missing out on a great product, but you have to stick your principles.
Whatever you decide, I'd ask you to judge each project on its own merits and not to make assumptions about the conduct of one Kickstarter because of your experiences with another, but if you feel the risk is not worth the reward to you, then God bless you and I hope you find a great home for your gaming dollars.
Marc Radle |
Hey there Alex!
I certainly respect your opinion, but I would point out that Deep Magic is a HUGE book and close to 300 pages of it ARE open content, compared to less than 76 pages which are not. That's a pretty big percentage of Deep Magic that is open content.
In fact, it is because so much of Deep Magic (and the New Paths Compendium, for that matter) IS open content that the good folks at Legendary CAN use Mythic versions of it in these books ...
Like I said, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but using phrases like 'hassle and heartbreak' seem pretty disingenuous.
