I'd like to throw together a back-up character, just in case of the unfortunate event in which my current one dies off.
This is basically what I had in mind; http://youtu.be/TkiQa-qGves
So. Hehe, any ideas? I mainly want to do this because I think it'd be just the funniest character to play (for a short while, at least, maybe a few sessions) and I don't think anyone except 1 other player would see it coming (he's seen that particular Ultimate Spider-man episode.

GROOOOOOT!
*ahem*
I think the magnificence of Groot would be best represented by an Oread Druid with the Plant Domain. The Plant domain grants Bramble Armor and your choice of Wooden Fist (default domain) or Enlarge (Growth subdomain). The "Fertile Soil" racial trait gives you +1 CL on Plant domain abilities, and you can flavor it as you planting seeds all over yourself. (Heck, you get Barkskin as a domain spell.) Oreads get a +2 on Strength and Wisdom and a -2 on Charisma, which is awesome for a druid and fits Groot pretty well.
By level 12 you can use Wild Shape (Plant Shape III) to become a Treant, thus fully realizing the smashiness of Groot.
Make me proud, Groot! Make me proud!
PS: Let me know if you want a suggestion for a full build.

pupsocket's suggestion is extra funny if you've ever played the Marvel Heroes video game.
under the standard rules, an oread druid with the plant[growth] domain is probably you're best bet
if you're playing in a home game you could always talk to your GM about using the race builder from the Advanced Race Guide to make a treant-esque race for him... if the GM is willing to let you go up to like 13-14 points (equivalent to a dwarf or tiefling) you could have the plant type, the same stat array as an oread, and some combination of +1 natural armor, two slam attacks, wood shape 1/day as a SLA, and +2 knowledge nature (any 2 of the four).
