Mummy's Mask sanctioning

Scarab Sages 4/5

Soon enough the new Mummy's Mask AP is going to start shipping out and Osirionologists everywhere (myself included) are very excited to see what this AP has to offer.

Last year Reign of Winter was sanctioned as it came out and I think that system worked well and had a great reception. I started running RoW right away and my players were thrilled with the chronicle sheets. Wrath of the Righteous was not sanctioned, but it sounded to me like WotR was an exception to the rule and that the intention was to sanction all future APs as they are released.

However, I have not heard anything about Mummy's Mask yet. Will it be sanctioned for PFS play and how soon should we expect to see the chronicle sheets? We have a group ready to play it as soon as it comes out but we'd also like PFS credit and would like to know how long we will have to wait to see the chronicles. Hopefully the turnaround will be rather fast as it was with Reign of Winter; I think keeping up that habit is the way to go in the future.

Thanks!

We were told to ask back in February, so you're on the right track. :D

Scarab Sages 4/5

No word on this yet?

Well, release got pushed back from February till March for the first issue of the AP. I wouldn't expect any chronicle till street date for March products at the earliest. They have also generally not stated whether or not one would be sanctioned, until they released the chronicles, so...might be a little wait yet.

I sure hope so! Passing out chronicles has made AP play even more fun.

This is the first AP I've wanted to play since Rise of the Runelords.

I'm excited.

Well, I was really just looking to see if Mike or John had confirmed whether or not they will be sanctioning when it comes out. It seemed to be the intention to sanction the new APs as they come out but they haven't said anything about this one.

Absolutely agree. We've have been having a blast with Reign of Winter (on book 5 now) and having the chronicles at the end of each book is such a great incentive. I'm also playing Carrion Crown and running several others online.

Yep. I love Osirion so I've been waiting for this one since it was announced. I'm hoping to start playing it right away so I'm also hoping there's a quick turnaround on chronicle release.

February won't be around for much longer. How soon before before we get a yes or no?

I know we all want new content as much as possible and as fast as possible, but lets take a look that John has been doing for the player base. He has pretty quickly sanctioned older AP's, while doing development for scenarios. I would also wager Paizo is deep in planning for Gencon or if not now it will be soon as the call for GenCon GM's usually goes out in Feb. We also have SKR leaving leaving a big giant hole in resources. To top it all of John is also working on the Strategy Guide. I think we could have a bit more patience for this instead of harping on the subject over and over.

Scarab Sages 4/5

Sure. Apologies. I guess I'm just excited to hear something but perhaps you took that the wrong way; it was not my intention to nag John or anyone else. I understand that the PFS team is very busy. I am very appreciative of the sanctioning work that has been done already and all of the other work that John has been doing as well. I didn't mean to harp on the subject over and over, as you say, or seem ungrateful for asking for an update. And I don't expect to see any chronicles tomorrow; the AP isn't even out yet, after all. I just found it odd that they haven't said anything about it one way or the other. But perhaps they're just saving it for a big announcement or something. Let's hope for that. Patience I certainly have.

Think of it as a surprise Mike. You wake up one day, turn your computer on then hey presto its there!

Scarab Sages 4/5

Hey, if they're saving it as a surprise I'm down with that. I think RotR and SS were out of the blue for non-VL people so that could be it.

The Exchange 4/5

John made a post a while back, they want to sanction APs, but they need to focus on scenarios.

I know there are volunteers working on sanctioning APs, I'm confident that mummys mask will get sanctioned. I'm also confident that we won't hear anything until late march or early April.

Volunteers (unless they're the AP authors) can't work on an AP that is being released - at least not with the continuity that has been present in prior AP chronicles (partial and full arc boons, etc).

I think he meant that there are volunteers working on sanctioning the older APs. Last I heard they weren't accepting outside help for things like that but maybe they've changed their policy since then. Which would probably be a good thing in order to take a load off of Mike's and John's shoulders.

The Exchange 4/5

I was talking about older APs.

It's possible that they could have a volunteer get basic information about the AP under NDA enough to come up with boons and the like at least.

For those who may still be interested, John answered the question here with the good news that it will be sanctioned.

Since the first book is coming next month I imagine it will be another two months at the minimum before we see chronicles. But who knows; with Reign of Winter they had them out very quickly after the books were released since they were able to work on chronicles before the book was public. We could see them right away.
