I think this is real good as someone who missed the Kickstarter campaign. :)

Just wanted to chime in and say this looks incredible! I've pretty much been searching for something to play ever since FFXI and Shadowbane! I've played DDO, and while it was entertaining, it just didn't have anything that kept me going. I really hope this stays true to pen and paper as much as possible and that there is that level of customization that really gets players invested in their characters!

Again, I will definitely be keeping my eye on this and crossing my fingers when the beta's roll around, or alpha even!

Hello Veldrin, welcome.

Keep an eye on the Goblinworks Store that will open soon here(weeks), where you can buy packages that contain access to Beta(called Early Enrollment here, or EE) and alpha, amongst other things.

An Alpha package costs 1000 dollars, so that is pretty exclusive, however at some point they may need more alpha testers and some of those will come from the people that have bought packages that contain EE: the cheapest of those packages is now 100 dollars.

Some notes:

Estimated start of Alpha: Q2 this year.
Estimated start of EE (beta): Q4 this year.
EStimated length of EE: 1-1.5 years.

During EE many features will be implemented over time so they will start pretty barebone. However the game should be playable. Also, when EE starts this is also when the subscriptionmodel starts, so it is a bit different then your average beta. It is planned to have no more wipes during EE though off course many things may change. Some of the packages contain free months, the alpha package gives a free sub for the entire duration of EE.

A sub buys you the amount of XP that a single character can use (for skills and such) in a month. So this also works differently then most MMO's, please read this post from Stephen Cheney that explains it a little more: dividing xp amongst characters You can off course take a second sub if you want to keep training two characters fully at the same time.

Hail and well met Veldrin. Welcome to the PFO Forums, check out the Nihimonicon for useful stuff such as Forum-FAQ, links, guilds, quotes etc.

The Goblinworks FAQ is surprising good actually in terms of expectation management and the top-level description of how Pathfinder Online intends to transition from the TT in very significant ways (and why) and where in that transition it attempts to retain as many aspects as possible. For eg the devs have said indeed they want characters to be very polished to reflect the standards that Paizo has set for your character in the TT game (personal customization).

Also to bear in mind, the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is how PFO will look in early enrollment: Much, much smaller than usual mmorpg releases. This is described in detail: Big Things Have Small Beginnings

You may want to get some sort of staff member designation added to your tag so people don't mistake you for one of the proles :)
Thank you, I'll make sure to get that added on.

Done and done! Welcome to your new Goblinworks bling Taylor! :)
