Kick Starter Pre Paid Time Usuage

Here is a question that came up, and we need some clarification if possible.

I will use my own purchases as an example:

Pioneer KS = 3 Months
Add-On = 3 x 3 month Time
Add-On = 12 Month Time

Total = 24 months pre paid time.

I understand that the first 3 months w/ Pioneer will begin with EE, if I choose to.

Is it possible to use these in staggered intervals?

0 - 3 90 Day Pioneer
4 - 6 Break (90 break)
7 - 9 90 Day Sub
10 - 15 Break (90 Day Break)
16 - 18 90 Day Sub

Finally using the remaining 15 months for OE and beyond.

Why would that be desired? The accumulation of experience will be the same in either case, in your scenario it will just take longer. I don't see how that will be a benefit to you.

It might allow someone to wait for content / features to be added, then to restart the training clock to test out the new features as they arise.

Not everyone has the resources to pay to beta or the desire to play for all 18 months of beta.

They may have changed this, but I thought the subscription was based around training time. So you paid for a month of training.
If you choose not to queue training, might that not put things on hold?

Interesting thought. I'm sure you have to use the pledge amount to get in to EE to start. But then, it did not occur to me to play without paying for training time on any character. I had always assumed you had to pay for at least one.

Perhaps Being was right, I would probably just pay from start to finish, without breaks. I can break from the game as far as playing, but still bank xp for my return.

Well if it works like Eve I don't think you can bank time. If you don't have something in the training que you lose it, I believe, it's been a long time since I played Eve.

I can't think of a reason you couldn't bank time though. So maybe.

You will gain XP over time whenever you're subscribed (or, later, are purchasing XP-earning time in a more modular fashion).

When you go to a trainer you will see all the available training (not all trainers will have advanced training, and trainers can run out of stock in the short term). Individual items will be unavailable to you if you do not meet their prereqs for Ability Score minimum and Badges. Of the training available to you, there will be an XP cost (which is deducted from your available XP) and a coin cost (largely set by the settlement that owns the trainer).

If you have the available XP and coin, you click to train the Feat and it is immediately added to your character.

See the blog for more information.

It looks more like you accumulate and spend as training slots become available and you meet the prereqs, rather than a "queue or lose system".

Because there is no Free-to-Play option yet. Even though you don't lose the XP, you still won't be able to play after the clock runs out.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

What about suspending whatever chunk of time we're currently using up.

Use the KS adventurer time, then one month from of a 3-month token. Suspend the account for 10 weeks for whatever reasons. Log into account management to resume, play for two months.

I'm sure anyone who pre-pays their subs in big blocks would find that a really appealing feature even if they never use it.

I believe the answer is "Yes".

If you are a Crowdforger, Crowdforger Buddy, Crowdforger Alpha or Crowdforger Guild backer you'll get several months of subscription time with your pledge. You can choose how and when to use that game time; you can use it immediately when you're granted access to the game, or you can wait and not start play until the game has reached Release, or you could use some time in Early Enrollment and some after Release. You'll be able to control when your subscription time is being used.
