What's the best storage space for Rods?

Advice

Liberty's Edge

So far, I'm juggling between Elemental, Intensified, Piercing, and Selective Rods. Is there a good item I don't know about besides the Glove of Storing or Handy Haversack for easy storage on these types of items? Maybe one of the Efficient Quiver compartments? I keep thinking there must be some kind of belt or bandolier designed to cover this sort of item.

Rods are roughly the size of clubs or light maces, some actually function as such, gloves of storing is probably your best bet but you can always tuck them.intonyur belt and "draw" the next one as part of a move action and still have a standard action left to actually cast the spell.

Well, if you're Alain the Cavalier...

In the campaign I run, one of the players created this item:

Quote:

Wand Bandolier/Staff Holster

Originally engineered by Cherkess battle sorcerers, a Wand Bandolier/Staff Holster is a leather and cloth construction designed to make storing and retrieving wands/staves as simple as using a weapon sheath or sling. Each Wand Bandolier/Staff Holster has space for 10 wands/staves. Drawing or sheathing a wand/staff is a move action, just as it is for a weapon. One can wear two such bandolier/holsters, slung both ways across the chest.

Market Price: 1,000 gp.

And its magical version:

Quote:

Wand Bandolier/Staff Holster of Swift Retrieval

Designed by the Wizard Nikolai of the Spellkeepers of Odin, this appears to be a normal bandolier/holster, but it is enchanted with subtle magic similar to an efficient quiver. When drawing a particular wand/staff, it will seem to spring into the wielder's hands, taking but a free action. Similarly, sheathing a wand/staff takes only a free action.

Moderate Conjuration; CL 9th; Craft Wondrous Item, secret chest; Price 6,000 gp.

It's not a stretch to make it work with rods also. You might convince your DM to let you have such a thing.

Honestly I've never given it too much thought, but I figured you could always just have wands and rods in a belt holster, akin to a gun holster. Though, I believe it will still be a move action to retrieve the item.

There was a belt of many pockets in 3.x you could aka your gm about being able to get ahold of.

Belt of Many Pockets [ 22,000 gp ]

The black leather belt (which serves as a swordbelt) seems to be nothing more than a well-made article of clothing, but closer examination reveals eight small pouches along it's inner front. In fact, a total of 64 extradimensional pouches exist in the belt, with seven more "behind" each of the eight readily apparent ones. Each pouch is similar to a miniature Bag of Holding, able to contain up to 1 cubic foot of material weighing as much as 10 pounds.

In addition, a Familiar can be placed in any pocket no matter it's size or weight. The familiar has no need for food, air, or water while inside the pouch. Anything stored in the belt's pockets is effectively weightless and doesn't affect the wearer's weight capacity so long as the belt is worn around the waist.

If removed, the belt is one-tenth the total weight of all the items stored within it. While worn around the waist, the belt responds to its wearer's desire to extract something (by opening the correct pouch) or store something (by opening an empty pouch). Retrieving a specific item from the pouch is a move action, but doesn't provoke the attacks of opportunity that retrieving a stored item usually does.

I'm thinking the bow compartment of the Efficient Quiver will probably work best for me, then. I wanted one for arrows and javelins to use Telekinesis on, anyway. Or maybe keep one one each side of my belt and in each boot, but I expect I'll be needing even more rods soon.

I suggest hiring or re-animating a caddy and using your efficient quiver as a golf bag. Bonus points if you animate the quiver so it drives itself around in front of you and hands you wands itself.

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and I make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas......"Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

It's in the hole!
