Increase spell's hit dice cap

Advice

How do i increase the number of hit dice affected by a spell such as, say, sleep? Is there a way to make this happen?

Different answers for different types of spells. This won't help with sleep, but damage dice capped spells like Fireball, and shocking grasp can be given 5 level raise with the Intensify Spell feat. You actually have to have those levels to fully benefit. Example Fireball with the Intensified Spell metamagic feat is cast as a 4th level spell with it's damage cap raised from 10 to 15 for a 15th level caster.

I know intensify, i have a fun magus build with it. 10d6 damage at 10th level with a first level spell. Makes for a great day.

I'm looking to make sleep a bit more effective, things like that.

At some point, if you aren't playing PFS and have an amenable DM, you might consider spell research. The usual solution to increasing nonvariable caps is to use a higher level spell, such as deep slumber instead of sleep. Plus you get to name it something awesome, like Nimrod's Naptime.
