What barrier am I missing

So it appears the Circles of Binding I thought were part of the 3rd adventure deck actually comes from the 4th. That means according to this list, I'm missing a barrier.

Here's what I have

  • Cryptic Message
  • 2x Door Spike
  • Hand Chopper
  • Ranger Stash

and the aforementioned Circles of Binding

It looks like a Hand Chopper got chopped. There are two of them in my set.

Honestly, replacing it with the Circles of Binding is probably just fine for gameplay, since there are also Circles of Binding in the RPG adventure that the PACG scenario Battle at the Dam is based on.

Sigh. It appears we had a mix-up at the printer—that card did indeed replace a second Hand Chopper. Fortunately, it's of no real consequence in this case—the Circles of Binding works just fine.

Yeah, at least its a bane and not a boon or more key bane like a henchman or villain. And now if you've got a 2nd printing of deck 3 you've got a sneak peak at deck 4.

Vic: I'm assuming all the 2nd printing copies of deck 3 have this problem. Would Paizo consider placing an additional Hand Chopper in the second printing (assuming it happens) of deck 4? I'm not suggesting removing a Circles of Binding from deck 4, just 1 additional card. That would provide a way for people who got a 2nd printing of deck 3 to get their missing card in deck 4, and actually come out of it with an extra card instead of a missing card.

I have no idea how cards are printed and cut, so I have no idea how hard that would be. Just something I thought of as a possibility.

As it happens, the mix-up involves a Hand Chopper turning up in the second printing of deck 4....

Oh. Well there you go. Sometimes two wrongs do make a right.

I thought the point of the hand chopper was to take a right (or a left).

Sorry couldn't help myself.

I recently purchased the second printing of this deck. Aside from the barrier for deck 4, it also has a duplicate card for the "Into the Mountains" scenario. So I've got 6 scenario cards (lucky me).

Counted my deck and there's 109 cards (duplicate card and barrier card for deck 4 included in the count) instead of 110. I'm missing 3 cards. Aside from one barrier, I'm missing 2 monsters (according to the list on board game geek). Only 8 monsters were in the box when I got it.

I already bought the first printing of deck 4, so I'm out of luck in getting the extra hand chopper.

Will Paizo mail its customers the missing cards?

I've emailed customer service a couple of times and I've got no response, so I wanted to post here to see if I can get some responses before I call customer service and get this resolved.

I've not heard what action Paizo is taking with this issue, but in general their customer service is quite good, though sometimes perhaps overwhelmed with the volume of calls/emails/posts they have to handle. Calling them has always worked really well for me, as I've never had to leave a message. They don't open until 10 am PST, so you'll have to wait a bit to call them.

Okay, cool. I'll definitely give them a call. Thanks for replying.

I ended up with a 2nd printing of Deck 3, and a 1st printing of Deck 4. So I'm up one set 4 Circles of Binding, and down 1 set 3 Hand Chopper.

Depending on how many cards end up in the Errata deck I understand is planned for after the whole set is released, maybe these two cards (one copy each) could be added to that deck, so those of us in this situation can swap out to have the originally-intended mix? (Might require a slip of paper to explain why it's there, though...)

EDIT: I only found this thread because I counted my cards and found I had 111 from Set 4 and 109 from Set 3. It was driving me nuts - I assumed I was just missing which card actually had a 3 on it for the longest while. I wish there had been a mention in the Errata FAQ. Very glad I found this thread to explain it!

just recently i ordered and received the Patfinder Adventure Card Game Adventure Deck 3 and 4 from eBay (both sealed and unopened). When I started to put the Cards in card sleeves, i noticed that a Barrier Card 4 "Circle of Binding" was in Deck 3. Without this card, there are only 109 cards in the deck. I looked it up and boardgamegeek.com i read, that this is a "common" mistake, and this card should be a Barrier Card 3 "Hand Chopper". Since I also bought Adventure Deck 4 from the same seller, it also had the "Circle of Binding" barrier card instead of "Hand Chopper".
Is there any way i could somehow get this missing card from you?
Thank you in advance for the help!

@entaj -- that may or may not be possible, but you need to post that request in the Customer Service forum, not here.
