Does my mythic go away?

Wrath of the Righteous

I've been part of a group running WotR since the beginning, and it's been awesome. My Barbarian is well on his way to becoming a lesser deity of war. My one question is: has there been any indication that the PC's mythic powers will disappear and/or fade after the last boss is defeated? It was mentioned in Mythic Adventures that it could happen when a campaign is finished, but my character is such a badass that people who follow him are granted divine magic. That can't just disappear, can it?

Liberty's Edge

It depends on the campaign itself. The adventure path might have the characters loose their power as part of the story, or they may leave it up to your GM.

In my personal Mythic homebrew game, the heroes will defeat an Outer God on his home plane with 20 character levels and 10 mythic tiers (three parties of 5-6), but in the end it was gods who granted them the power to take down a god. And they cannot allow such powerful creatures to simply wander about the Material Plane. so they offer this choice:

You may keep your powers an serve us forever, or you may return home and leave this strength behind.

The adventure path will probably handle this kind of thing depending on whether the GM wants the game to go on after the AP concludes.

Other than that, it's whatever makes a good story. My heroes were given power to accomplish a task, and with that task done they don't need the power anymore.

If you are well on your way in WotR you know how your character acquired his power.

The way you acquire it, does not feel that it is something you ll lose, of course there can always be some plot device later on, but I doubt it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they did, but regardless, I am going to be very interested in what the "Continuing the Campaign" section is for the final volume of WotR.

I'd be inclined to say no as given their mythic power up its not really something that can just vanish as said above.

In general I'd say it really is up to the GM to rule on a case by case basis getting power as done here it remains, getting power bestowed by the gods to defeat a specific foe then yes on completion.

Afterall you acomplish whatever it is will happen in the last 2 parts but that's not necessarily the end there are other mythic beings and threats out there.

Personally the Kitsune Eldritch Knight I'm creating as part of my personal satisfaction play test (phase 1 just read through awarding xp and triggering stuff to get an idea of things I need to know about e.g. a 2400XP stat block that is actually 2400 per EACH opponent not total. There's also a fighter, thief and cleric but I'm just giving them gear not going into details with them, I really wanted that cloak of resistance +2 too) is going to wind up immortal (as in living forever longevity path) and just wandering the world seeing different sights, learning new schools and lending a mythic hand where needed to help people along (admitedly since her idea of help is driving a bear into their camp to make them stronger to face their foes they may not like it much but in the long run it is help). So she's keeping her powers.

I was thinking about this and some possibilities are ...

1) A trip to the starstone.
2) Facing a spawn if Rovagug.
3) coming back from the abyss to find all sorts of interesting cults are popping up to worship you.
4) Assuming we don't actual kill the lord of locusts we could face him again.
5) Assuming we do other demon lords may start looming.
5) The old decision do we take over rulership, guide from the shadows or just vanish to other places and times.

Your right though itll be interesting particularly with the mythic rules allowing us to become immortal and grant our worshipers divine spells.
