Look, this is a bit ridiculous. Why not have a google doc spreadsheet where all the lists are posted.

I'm maintaining a (private, non-anonymous) Google Doc where everyone who wants to share their picks can do so in one centralized but non-public location... I've already added to it. Also I have sent out lists to those who asked for them, and anyone who wants to send one to me is more than welcome.

Just want to apologize to the people i haven't responded to yet. My list and stats are on my computer and my phone isn't copy-pasting nicely. Promise to respond in the morning when I'm back at the desk. I'll also give the stats on the 15 lists i have at that time. Still willing to take more lists :)

I'll do one better than that; I'll PM you a link to seven lists all in one place and you can add your own to the growing compilation.

Interestingly, following on from Neil in a way, I have noticed a trend with the shared lists...

My list has more in common with shares from entrants who are entering for the second, third, etc year. I have very, very few matches with shares from first time entrants share lists.

So there is definitely some convergence on how people voted and rated items based on how many times they have entered before.

When we start a thread of lists next week (though yeah, some of you will be bored with it already :) Should we also keep track of creators years entering, voting tags, previous Top 32, etc.? I recall DankeSean's list being +50% on the Top 32 and +90% on the Keeper Pile (top 89). Since he has multiple tags I trust his judgement highly. Neil's even higher as he has been on both sides of the curtain. :)

That said if DankeSean (or Neil & Clark) want to pm me a list... :)

Like Candyman, speak my name and I will come.

I honestly don't recall my favorites list last year being that spot on for the top 32, but numbers get very blurry to me given enough distance. I do recall being depressed that I wasn't more spot on; there were a lot of items I floved that didn't even make the top 89. (I still mourn the discordant cur and golden monkey of greed.)

I was a bit more lackadaisical this year as far as sorting out my favorites; last year I kept distinct 'keep' and 'reject' files, then in the 'keep' file things I liked were highlighted in blue, things I LOVED got deep purple. Between all that it was easy enough to sort out a top 64 or so faves. Since that wound up being much too time consuming (checking two seperate files to see if I'd already seen an item previously wound up being more effort than I'd expected) and I was busy on something else all during the voting this year, I settled for one big item folder with blue highlights as needed, and no distinction between 'good' and 'awesome'. At some point I intend to go through and extract all those blue items and compile them into A List, but since I'm still busy with that something else through the weekend, that will have to wait.

So I won't be joining in the PM fest here; I do intend to post a list here or in the appropriate thread once the judges are done being judgmental and we cann all publicly talk about what a great item the whatsit of shinfulgraging was.

I find it very interesting that I pretty much don't agree with most everyone on what are the best items this year.

Not only do I not agree, most people don't share common items between their favorites.

I imagine that puts a rather chaotic spin on the top 100 items from voting.

See Neil Spicer's post on the first page... I agree it is very interesting, especially when you contrast it with the judges, who have a tendency to come to a quick consensus on the top 20 or so. I think that discrepancy between what we (individually) think are good items and what the judges ultimately come up with is invaluable insight into our own skill as a designer. Of course that takes a willingness to be honest with yourself if you are in fact, way off.

Check the post cull database, chances are good you will remember names from your voting. Several people have made lists based off of that.

To anyone thinking about contacting me regarding my Exit Poll Google Doc:

I promised contributors to the Exit Poll that they would be participating in a private exchange of favorite lists. Since the Google Doc is not entirely anonymous, I need to respect that expectation of privacy. As a result, I am not free to share a link with voters who do not have their own lists of favorites to contribute to the exchange.

I will, however, attempt to compile some aggregate data about items that are popular with Exit Poll contributors. And voters who did not keep a favorites list during voting should feel free to look through the post-cull database and create favorites lists after the fact from the names of items they remember liking.

Sorry I can't share the contributors' lists more freely. Thanks for understanding.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I wonder if I was too strict.

I simply wouldn't vote for an item if it wasn't well balanced.
But I noticed a trend in the top lists of liking items raft had good effects, good flavor, or similar. Despite them not being entirely balanced. I seem to be the minority opinion ;-(

I'll see when they drop the top 32 how well my taste aligns or doesn't align ;-)

For those of you anxious to see the most popular Exit Poll items...

...here's my Exit Poll Results thread.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 32 , Dedicated Voter Season 7 aka devilfluff

I've seen things on lists that I would never vote for.

I don't care how evocative or innovative the item of resurrection/damage transference/taking the danger out of the game is. It did not get an upvote from me(caveat if it was against another item falling into the same category. I never voted same/equal) I'm also biased against teleportation...

I'll not lie. I have a bias for the lower end of the power scale. I've played characters well into "epic" levels(40+), but I'd rather create a new character by level 15-20(damn game group that like high level play! grrr). I think the game is at its best from levels 3-10 or so.

It's scary how many hours I spend lurking on this forum, but the contributions by all involved are absolutely addictive. Unfortunately, I wasn't organized enough this year to make a keep/drop list, but I would like to mention to some of the new entrants...

I voted for several items (some, several times) that were missing "crunchy bits". One in particular was written so well that I forgave it completely for missing critical information. Why? Because I want to see more from many of these writers. They will likely learn from their mistakes (probably when a judge says, "what's the save DC?", etc.), and maybe we will get to enjoy these talented people further.

Anyway, if anyone wants to share their list without reciprocation, I'd like to read it!

And thanks to everyone posting for filling the void while we wait.
