I think that's Mystery Men.

Here's a tough one for you:

"Shane! Come back!"

It is.

(I love that movie. Yes, I know, and I don't care.)

Heh. Shane.

Man, it's been forever since I saw that - I guess it was when I still lived at home, since I remember watching it with my dad.

Here's a clue: Nigel Terry and Anthony Hopkins.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Yeah!

... no, wait, you've lost me.

EDIT: (Sorry for the joke-post. To be clear, I'm probably not going to get it. I'm terrible at actors names. Names in general, to be honest. But at least they're not bands or composers. I'm rarely ever able to remember them unless I'm really into their particular music right this second, and even then sometimes... :/

But I enjoy music!)

I loved Mystery Men too! Tom Waits and William H Macy! I still have a promo "The Bowler" shirt I got at ComicCon Chicago a million years ago.

I know! It's great!

It's actually quite reviled by the normal comic book aficionados who loved the original work, and I can easily understand why. The movie differs in a number of dramatic and serious ways with the tone and style. The comics were very... acerbic or bitter or cynical or something in its comedy whereas the movie is more... well... comedic. Maybe "lighthearted", I guess.

In similar blasphemous news, I really liked the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie! And better than the comic (and sequel)! Which I thought sucked! I know this makes me a terrible person, but I don't care. Boo-ya!

Jealous of that shirt, though. :)

You are on yr own for LXG, Tacticslion. I own the comics and I think Ive read em, but I only watched about 20 minutes of the movie. Someday (maybe next time I have a sick day) I will watch that flick.

Spoiler:

heres the shirt...man mine is WORN OUT.
I met Bob Burden at that ComicCon and got a BUNCH of stuff signed by him. Flaming Carrot! UT! ...I think he did some Gumby books that I got signed too? Met Geoff Darrow and got him to sign my Hard Boiled comic, which was AWESOME! Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson signed all my SwampThings and I got Garth Ennis to put 'For f@#*s sake!' on my Hitman and Preacher comics. Tim Sale and Jim Lee were also there and BIG influences on me when I was drawing...wanted Sale to draw a pic of this guy, The Cavalier but it had been too long since anyone had asked him to draw that one and I was nervous that I was holding up the line...lol. Wish I would have waited around to see if he woulda done it after the line died down. Met Grant Morrison too, someone gave him a Fosters lager as I was approaching the signing desk and he slammed that mofo before signing my books. It was J Michael Strazinskis birthday and we all sang him a bit of the song before he told us to shut up. This is actually a couple of Chicago ComicCons mixed together, cant remember which was which year. Oh and Kevin Smith was in line with me to get into the dealer hall and he would NOT sign my books until we got to his designated time and place...lol. Whoops! way long sidetrack here...Ill just put this in a spoiler button

OK. Back to movie quotes.

...nobody got my 'always be closing' riff, so how about something completely different?

1 Send more cops...

2 They smell so good...so spicy...

3 Theyre dead...theyre all messed up

Some terrible zombie comedy thing from the '80s, IIRC (and, since I don't R the name of this movie, probably not...).

"With you? Never a quickie. Always a longie..."

Also from that movie;

"Children of the night?! SHUT UP!"

you got it...but which terrible zombie comedy thing from the 80s...you gotta narrow that s!+! down :)

Right answer!

"We need a bigger boat."

This one is easy, so bonus points if you can tell me which accent goes with it:

The question I've been asking myself all night,
the question that must not leave this room is...
If your own government was responsible for the deaths of eighty thousand people,
would you really want to know?

drunken_nomad wrote:

3 Theyre dead...theyre all messed up

Glengarry Glen Ross

The Night of the Living Dead

Btw of a hint, the cookie crumbling quote is from an Oscar-winning movie starring one of the poor saps being lectured to by Alec Baldwin and his brass balls.

Johnny Depp says it in Blow...but what I think you need to hear is JAWS!

"I am a beautiful woman..."

"For...most mail delivered!"

Time's up!

Without a doubt, in my Top Ten Favorite Movies Evah, "something something, something-wise" is a leitmotif throughout the flick.

Also, Shirley MacLaine, OHWFA!

you know...for the kids.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

I havent seen The Apartment in 100 years. dangit! Im putting the dvd on hold at the library. Love Lemmon. Just for Days of Wine and Roses if nothing else. Saw Save the Tiger at just the right time so its stuck in my head forever. Plus all the stuff he did with Matthau. You ever see Kotch? Lemmon directed that one. Good stuff.

Man on his knees, begging: "Oh, please, don't kill us! Please, please don't kill us! You know I love you baby. I wouldn't leave ya. It wasn't my fault!"

Woman: "You miserable slug! You think you can talk your way out of this? You betrayed me."

Man on his knees, begging: "No, I didn't. Honest... I ran out of gas. I... I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!"

Back in the day, I used to have a girlfriend (I know, hard to believe), and she used to make video tapes of all the classics and indie flicks that she could.

She put on the The Apartment and, after a while, went to bed. Before she retired for the evening, she said, "Just so you know, the tape ran out."

I'm watching and watching and right before the "I love you, Miss Kubilek (sp?)" scene at the end, the tape cuts out.

I'm afraid I woke her up with my screams of consternation. She was very gracious and consoling however...[Waggles eyebrows]

Let's go sci-fi/dystopia:

"Can you fly, Bobby?"

---------------------

"I jumped, O my brothers, and I fell hard but I did not snuff it, oh no. if I had snuffed it, I would not be here to tell what I have told."

--------------------

"The Law of Gravity is nonsense. No such law exists. If I think I float, and you think I float, then it happens."

-------------------

"We've all got to be alike. The only way to be happy is for everyone to be made equal."

--------------------
Older Man - "There was a world, once, you punk."

Man - "Yes, so you keep telling me."

Older Man - "I was there. I can prove it."

Man - "I know, I know. When you were young, people were better."

Older Man - "Aw, nuts. People were always rotten. But the world 'was' beautiful."
