Given the discussion of Platonic Dialogue, someone will have to remind me to try and make a Tainted archetype based on Timaeus, most likely called the Sickening Dreamer. Oh, so much geometric power! Hehehe...

While the design of the Tainted is not conducive to archetypes in the classic sense (unless, of course, the change is primarily cosmetic), you can always just set up a backend with the flavor you want.

In 3 days since our launch of the Kickstarter, we stand at 40%. Thank you folks. I hope to have a class preview starting with an update Monday evening.

I was about to congratulate you sir! Looks like this is going to be a rousing success. :)

Let me know if you need something from me for Monday night!

A kickstarter book of classes might be the last place you'd expect to learn about ancient natural philosophy, but you'd be surprised...

Liberty's Edge

Best of luck to you guys! :)

Ok Greg - I pledged at the Peer Review Designer level after all. I sent you a PM...

Thank you Marc!

We currently just stand over 70% funded. It's going pretty well so far.

Morgan I have responded. :-)

Update #2

Forest Guardian Press

@ Greg, if you sent an email I haven't received it yet. ;)

This is going to be an awesome project and I recommend anyone on the fence to get a piece of this action. I had the privilege to get a "sneak peek" at Will McCardell's Demiurge and these are going to be some seriously fun additions to the game.

Do people prefer softcover or hardcover books?

Personally: Hardcover, if its halfway feasible pricing-wise. Otherwise softcover. (Hardcovers get expensive fast, or so I'm told...)

Hardcover. Full color. All awesome. ;)

^^This. I would absolutely prefer a hardcover, but for something like this I'd need you to keep it in the $40 and under price range to consider it. $24.99 is probably the number you'd need to lock me in (if I hadn't already promised Cheapy I'd be picking up a copy regardless).

I'm also on the fence pending some details regarding a print edition. I'll be interested in page-count and art format. If this is in the 64-page realm, softcover makes most sense. If this is in the 100+ page realm I'd prefer to see it in hardcover.

I'd be okay for about $50 plus shipping for a 100+ page hardcover, to give an idea what I'd consider acceptable. Softcover 65-page (or less) would be down in the $20 range in my mind. Roughly. Depending on quality of art and content I'm flexible.

Quick bit of explanation... I've got a metric tonne of PDF products laying around in folders, gathering dust. Out of sight, out of mind, right? I keep making discoveries from time to time. "Oh! I bought that. Neat." It's annoying. Physical books on my physical shelves are very much in-my-face things that I can't forget about, and am more likely to actually ever use. Thus books have more value to me than PDFs, though I heavily use PDF versions of my books to copy & paste details into statblocks etc. What I'm saying is that PDF-only is kind of getting to be a hard sell for me. Other customers' experiences may vary. I'm not currently a tablet-user, though Samsung's new announcement of a Tab 12.2" may change that, being so close to hardcover size.

Contributor

I think it depends on how long this product ends up clocking in at, personally.

I know my contribution is about 10 pages long. I don't know how much craziness Greg is thinking of getting himself into.

Now 88% funded and with hardcover backer pledges!

I'm looking forward to the next two class spotlights!

Amora Game wrote:

Hardcover, eh? Guess none of us will be playing around with RPG Superstar anymore :P

Hey cool, almost there :)

93.5% done!
I wait with bated breath for the donation that will push it over its goal.

Get your friends in on it, Scott. Greg can only put so many toys in front of 26 people :)

Already got 2 podcasts, 1 blog, 50 flyers up at a NYC college and word of mouth on both my FB and LRGGs.

Sounds good, mate. I've got the word out to several gaming groups. With luck, one or two of them will bite. This is the small small press here. No Baur. No Reynolds. No Stephens. I want to see it go big just as a proof of concept. :)

There may or may not be a stretch goal for a big name. I will announce the "to be announced" stretch goals once we get funded level.

As far as getting the word out..
It is posted on several forums, local stores in my area.
Talked about in the new Pathways. Post on Roleplayer's Chronicles. Enworld, and on it's way to a few other places.

Upgraded my pledge to print. One note: International shipping is VERY cheap. I hope you won't make a loss on it. If you have indeed managed to do this THAT cheap, then this is a total blast!

On another note: Review of the PG for Prepare for War will finally hit daylight next week. I'll mention this KS then as well and see what I can drum up.

You the Ger-man, Thilo :)

Greg, if you can pull one in, all the better. This is your proof of concept, mate, and the trend estimators have you clocking in at around $4000 by the end of it all. A few homeruns like that and you'll be able to knock the first small off of small small press.

Yeah the int'l shipping may not be for hardcover?!?

@Greg:

* let me know if I need to throw in extra for shipping as part of my pledge level...

* I emailed you my class writeup - let me know what you think...

Pledging the day I get paid next week. This looks really cool.

@Lord Mhoram - Kickstarter only takes your pledge when the project finishes its pledge run - so you can pledge now and you won't see the funds go to Kickstarter for three or four weeks...

I was wondering if you saw the hardcover option. I made the reward with you in mind...

Worry not young Skywalker, as a products longevity and quality that makes it worth the investment. A total blast shall it be.

I am really curious what you think of the PG. I think the authors who helped did good work. Good money well spent.

There is only hardcover. Print or do not print, there is no other.

In time, you to shall have an email.

90+ pages I guarantee yes. $30 for pdf and harcover you get. Art sample of style, update 1 it is.

Plenty of time you have. Final day 13 Feb, it is. (side note. The money only is charged at time of final day if it gets funded.)

I know. I've pledged to 5 successful kickstarters.

It's an odd personality quirk. Money can be tight, and I had two kickstarters that I pledged before having the money in place, and then had to cancel because some emergency came up. Once the money is in the account I can mentally put it in the "Already spent" part of my mind.

Sorry about that. My alchemical golem and THE golem apparently don't get along very well. Back to the lab!

And as I replied yesterday to all the small races-small press appellations....

Nice. I like it!

Update #5 - Teaser: Mystic, Conduit, Survivor

Paizo Employee Design Manager

So, for us NPC level backers, when do we get to start hashing out what class our NPC is going to be? I already have some ideas for mine....

You can start coming up with a concept, but I figured wait till the playtest doc is up. That why you know of the classes, BUT if I recall you have some inside information. ;)

The the creative side of things, you get to pick any one of the classes, from the book. Any one you want. It's your NPC after all.

Sweet beans! I just didn't know if there was going to be like, a class lottery to ensure you didn't end up with 8 Survivor NPC's or something whacky like that.

Hey there, I don't mean to be rude by asking (what with the prospect of delays), but I was told I'd get some info on how the class I pitched was coming by last Friday, and haven't heard anything since... Thanks in advance for any clear-up of confusion.

There was a slight delay due to some of the first drafts coming in and finishing up the alpha testing on the classes we have, so that when the buzzer goes off, we can get the beta test document to you as soon as possible.

I will have a draft of the Pauper for you very soon. I do believe the base mechanics are about ready for you to look at. You proposed a very interesting idea, and I want to make sure the mechanics, at least for the base line, are worthy for you to tell us to proceed.

I couldn't run the risk of this not getting done in color, so I boosted by pledge to the Peer Review Designer level. I had something that matched the theme (I hope!) and didn't fit in with my work with Dreamscarred :)
Hopefully someone will let me know if it's too late for this pledge level.

The kickstarter hasn't ended, so no it is not to late for the pledge level. And the higher level pledges technically won't start till after the KS has ended. :)

Sweet!

I've got a little something I've been a-cookin' up for a bit that oughta fit.
