hound and graul guy

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

another question im sure I know the answer to but might as well make sure, the henchman in the new adventure pack, I don't have it in front of me, but I know its a hound and one of the graul ogres, it has 2 combat checks, one against the hound, then one against the ogre, it says if you succeed at the check on the hound, then the next check is 2 less to defeat, does that mean there is a way to fail the hound and still overall beat the henchman and close the location? or is it just there purely to make you more likely to take damage during the second check from it being harder then the minus 2?

The second one. You have to beat both checks, but if you beat the dog, then lose to the ogre, you will take less damage.

that's how I figured, just thought they were a little weird for making it worded that way, I figured I woulda saw it start at 11 and maybe be increased to 13 instead of decreased to 11, I suppose its the same either way

if you lose to the first check, do you still make the second?

Always. If there are multiple checks separated by "then" you always have to make each check in the series. If there are two combat checks and you fail both checks you take combat damage from each one!
