Why isn't there an onslaught of online play occurring?

I hope Roll20 adds an ability to transfer a campaign from GM to GM. I've suggested this to them but dont know if it will ever be implemented.
You can promote a player to GM on the launch page, effectively allowing another GM to run your campaign, though you still own it.

This is how we have handled the multi-table specials. Arthur has put together the tables and then cloned them for each GM, granting them GM rights over their individual tables.

Hmm...

I wonder, how many multi-table specials have you guys pulled off so far? Which ones?

I am curious how you work in an overseer GM for the multi-table specials (e.g. Siege of Diamond City)

We've used a Google/Youtube stream that players open separately. It's tricky dealing with sync issues, so I usually leave it muted and rely on my players to let me know when they are getting overseer messages.

So far we have managed Year of the Shadow Lodge and Siege of the Diamond City. I understand plans are in motion for Blood Under Absalom and Race For The Runecarved Key as well.

Oh nice. Could you do me a favor and keep me posted on those? I haven't really experienced them would not mind either playing or GMing them online, since they aren't really feasible locally.

Being able to get pre made macros for the scenarios would be sweet.

Seems like these would be prime candidates for the GM shared prep area

Count me in as interested, too. I'd be okay to play and happier to run (not a huge fan of being a PC; playing NPCs is better for me).

I think I might try and play one of these weekends coming up. Provided someone I know can help me figure it all out...

We have had good results with Online Specials - Indeed.

We ran Year of the Shadow Lodge as an Event unto itself, and Ran Siege of the Diamond City at AEtherCon Online.

We do have the other specials upcoming - Arthur Perkins has been the driving force behind getting the specials going online, and has done a good job with them.

Some public announcements will be coming here soon on the next online specials.

We are working on getting a list of Roll20 Macro Templates as part of our PFS Online initiatives.

Walter: I am sure we can get someone to walk you through Roll20 - just let us know and we will hook you up with someone.

Er, sorry if I jumped the gun Jesse. Just excited about it.

Let Arthur know, as it's his baby. Committed GMs are the biggest key to getting it off the ground. I've put my services up for both specials, but we need a solid core to be viable.

Jesse Davis is being modest. What he really means to say is that I bothered him to get people together for the specials, and then maneuvered him into the overseer spot so I could gm while he organized about a hundred players.

Keep an eye out over the next few days. I suspect information about Conline Pathfinder Society Con may drop. Like right here, in the sentence just before this, and possibly the next paragraph.

Four days. Two specials. Memorial Day weekend.

I played in that online special for Year of the Shadow Lodge, and I really have to say, it was very impressively organised.

It can't be understated that putting that together wouldn't have been an easy task to get it all working just right. Doing it online would be much tougher than doing it in person, if only to make sure everyone can hear you.

For the record, as of now, there's no longer a dearth of games. Although, my wife might disagree. Of course, for some (myself included) there's not always a game in a time slot that works for you, but there are a lot of choices popping up.

Bravo for the online community and those awesome GM's out there!

Awesome to hear! SO now that you've partaken of the beauty that is PFS Online when will you be ready to delve into the GM seat?

I ran You Have What You Hold just last night for my friends back in Ohio and my wife and my brother here in Phoenix just last night. Was great fun.

Funny you should ask! I actually just committed to GM'ing my very first (real) table in the next couple of weeks (The Confirmation). I'm excited and nervous at the same time. What makes it even more interesting is the game store proprietor who also happens to be a 5-star GM will be playing at my table that night. Nah...no pressure here.

As far as VTT gaming, I will need to spend some hours learning the Roll20 side of things first. Once I feel comfortable with that, I'll probably offer my first game.

If you need any help, feel free to ask. I have one of the maps you'll need and a niceish mini you can use for the final fight. Would be happy to loan em out to you though I doubt I'll be able to play. Stupid work schedule...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Just putting in my two cents, but with the only active PFS tables 1:30 from my house in any given direction, online play is the only thing which allows me to enjoy the wonder that is Pathfinder. Or just about any other table top with the rising use of VTTs. I am quite new to the community, but just seeing the integration of technology into the hobby is great to see and the work put into it can be quite appreciated.
