Cool, the first time I saw my own item was after the cull. In other news, I saw a sub-90-word hat that was so fun in concept that I texted my girlfriend about it immediately after reading it. It's going into my home game!

I'm a little worried mine is written too long, but it made it past the cull which is good, and it's simple so I'm hoping that helps it.

Hah! Not only is that item hilarious, but it's also useful.
I don't care if it's a joke item; I'd build a character based on that.
Thank you, entrant, for giving me a head slot item different than all the rest in the contest thus far. That was a refreshing change of pace and you got my vote that round for your originality.

Let's get some confessions going... How many of you are reading this praise thread trying to see if there is some obscure reference to your item to give you hope? :D
Well, glad I'm not the only one. :D
Carry on then.

Guilty, Wicht - and that goes for the rambling thread as well.
Hell, I've been in top 32 prior and I'm still haunting this thread, hoping someone will talk about my item.
Though this is a completely different item which is still floating in the Sea of Doubt where the Lighthouse of Incessant Praise is sweeping the waters.

Oh yeah, most definitely. I've been half-heartedly voting, but man, it is not as much fun to do on a screen as it is with a shiny new hardback book.
Yeah, me too. And each time someone comments on something and uses a figure of speech that could be a pun about or reference to my item or any item I'm rooting for, my heart skips a beat.
Nice, I just saw a new item and I liked it. I hope it rises above the competition. :P
Isn't every positive comment about an item on this thread a reference to MY item? Yeah, I'm sure of it.

*Puts head down in shame and raises hand*
There's been a few comments that could be about mine if I put glasses on and tilt my head to the left and squint.
And like Mikko my heart skips a beat.

Ok, so I've read a lot of items, I think I'm a Dedicated Voter right now, but I just got a new one in my queue, and I liked it a lot. I'd label it superstar.
I'm not normally a fan of gruesome, blood and guts items (of which there are many), and a mundane version of this item would gross me out, but the wondrous item version I very much enjoyed. It would make Silas proud.

Nah, I know my item is awesome and being upvoted 80% of the time. I am just here to share the love. :)

It can be disheartening at times.
I had utter confidence in my item, until this morning when I realized that I had skimped on my research and named it Ford Prefect.

lol :)

It is the only reason I search key words in the RPG Superstar section each day. So far (90% sure) it has come up once here (before the cull, so I am still worried) and possibly multiple times in the other thread (also pre-cull).
Well, this worry should fade for many soon. Sean said he thought the Database was fine.
Oooh, another previously unseen item. Very well done. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see that in the top ranks. Template was good (though did see a few minor mistakes), writing was strong and played with rules I don't think I've seen tackled before.

Ouch! A new item, which does a lot of the same things as mine. And it's SO FREAKIN GOOD. I really want this item to be worse than mine, but if it ever somes head to head with my own, I'll be hard pressed not to vote for it.
Well played, unknown designer - I would burn your item from the server with the fires of a thousand suns if I had the power.

One of you Jacobs has to change your avatar. Even your tags are the same. You are like clones or something.

Definitely some similar items this year.

And the item I'm refering to is not named the same, and there are vast differences in appearences and function. But the main theme is similar.

They did - and they are campaigning to force all finalist to change their names and avatars to the same
...
Kidding :p

Well I'm sure it was one of the other Jacobs who copied you. It wouldn't surprise me. Us Jacobs make damn good items, I'll have you know. Time will tell, I guess.
Vote Jacob 2014
Jacob! Jacob! Jacob!
I have upvoted Jacob's item more than once, probably upvoted more Jacobs than one too.

To quote Demi Moore...
ditto.
I just recieved a tough pairing. One I have seen before and I like it more now than I remember. The other is simple, but an effect I've wanted. Kudo's to both designers, but I have to go with the more complex of the two.
Wicht wrote: Let's get some confessions going... How many of you are reading this praise thread trying to see if there is some obscure reference to your item to give you hope? :D A little bit, yes.
But I like to read what people have liked, and if I can figure out the item they like, then I can learn to make better items in the future.
So it is selfish both ways.
I've used it mostly to figure out what people think.
My son keeps reminding me that too old school gaming and seeing the posts has helped me realize what he means and that he's right.
