I read and comment on this (and the ramble thread) more to pass the time between vote than to look for mention of my object, in all honesty.

One of my favorite objects is one with several snarky comments about it on the other thread. I've voted for it 4 times now. So there.

heck, there are items that I've made fun of on the other thread that I consistently vote for... don;t take the ramble thread too seriously.
There is a scabbard that I think is very creative and really, really, like. It might well be my favorite item that I have seen this year, I saw it a couple times pre-cull, and now just saw it again.

Vote Jacob. So, you want to be called Baldric?
that is a cunning plan...
Can I say that some items have grown on me over time? I can think of several I disliked on Monday, but I like now.
Anyone else?
Same here. There are a few I didn't like at first, but the more I think on them, the more I like them.
My current favorite item grew on me. Now I smile for quite a while after seeing it. Giggling like a maniac... er... I like that item that much!

I, too, am consistently reading both threads to see if any comments might be referring to my item.
Like most artists, I suffer equally from raging egomania and crippling self-doubt, which means I am just as convinced that every negative remark refers to my item as I am that every positive comment is directed at me.
Even when it is plainly impossible because my item wasn't even in that slot...
Oooh. A new item that's creative and fun. Going in the keep file.
@Belladonna - "raging egomania and crippling self-doubt" love it! 8')
I've only seen one or two posts, between both threads, that *might* be referring to my item, near as I can tell.
Which is either a good thing, or a bad thing. Or neither.

Fear mediocrity.
If you fear failure, you'll never bring yourself to try.
If you fear mediocrity, you'll always be trying.
You cannot get "everything wrong." You tried. That's 95% at least. When you do critique yourself, remember that.
Also, I'd say a good 1/3 of what I've seen is publishable. It's creative and least useful.
Agreed. Even the not-immediately publishable stuff is salvageable with an editor and an increased word count.
It jus won't make a thousand ships sail.
Wicht wrote: Let's get some confessions going... How many of you are reading this praise thread trying to see if there is some obscure reference to your item to give you hope? :D I admit that I'd like to see my item hinted at here. I already KNOW it was mentioned on the other thread. (The wording was pretty specific)
I regret not giving more of a "wow" factor: It is rather functional, but plain.
Hey, it is still fun to participate. :)
I made the decision to put part of the description in my title. Hard to totally explain without giving myself away, but what it did was make a more concise item description, possibly at the cost of a bit of wow factor.
Either way, I'll learn something. =)
I can't stop myself from thinking that my item is being referred to every time I read 'found a keeper' or similar - even 'hello item' must be mine. I know the probability is incredibly low but I can't stop my subconscious from saying it! I even copy/pasted a (vague & generic) comment so sure I was that it was mine which was being referred to - that said haven't seen mine after the cull so maybe mine was one of those 'copies a 2nd ed item' or others. REACS indeed (thanks Belladonna!) I am a REACShonary for sure!
There have been a couple of positive remarks for my item (and because of the wording, I am fairly sure it's mine)... but I have been too busy to continue voting the last few days myself. I need to spend time giving some comments here for some of the items I have seen that I like.

I have seen a couple comments that I know (almost positively) are about my item, and at least one that I think is about my item, but I am not sure. There are many more that I hope are about my item, but that may be wishful thinking. There are a lot of awesome items to which those statements could be attributed.

With 200 unique post-cull items in my file, I now have 5 Keeps and 21 tentative Keeps. Assuming the total number of post-cull items is 4 times that (800), I'd have about 20 Keeps and 80-90 tentative Keeps if I had seen them all. Sounds about right. My final top 32 would therefore consist of approximately 20 "stronger" and 12 "weaker" items, and the total number of good items would be around 100, which is quite close to the number of items that were presented to the judges (89).
I have like 10 items that I really like. Will be interesting how many make it to the top. And how many of the other spots will be occupied with items that I didn't like. And why.
So, this item I just saw has many issues with the template, but damn it's a good item. :) Wouldn't be surprised if it made the top 32.
I wouldn't mind seeing, post contest, a thread in which people list their keepers; as I assume that each one is different. It would be interesting to see how many choose the same items, and which items vary.

Nice job!

YAY! :D
Donald Robinson wrote: /wishes some of the comments were about his item, but sees nothing pointing to that fact. Same here. Practically not even a word. But then again, I really did not expect much from this year. I spent most of the time before Superstar deadline in a hospital, as I was mugged and beat up the day before Christmas Eve. I discarded the item that I sent to Anthony for review, because I didn't know what to do with it. And I barely managed to get my item in. It works, but I don't know exactly how well it works.

Also, as I know I have seen everything on the post-cull list (at its current 508 items), if you are on there, then I know you did a great job (even the joke items are good... at being joke items that is). XD
Sorry to hear, Orcus - hope you feel better.

How did the designer resist giving this quality item a pun name based on a classic magic item, er.. minor artifact? If you think you know it, PM me.

Anonymous designer, your item's mechanical effect is very so-so. I'm hard-pressed to think of a character that would use it. But your visual and description are so doggone impressive, evocative and creepy that I've voted for you just because I gotta see what you do on the monster round.
I added another two to me keeper list. One ups the desire to own the Mythic Rules that much more :) The other makes me want to re-read the Dresden files. Well done both of you.
Darm my favorite "joke" item didnt make the cull. I loved that item!
