Intensified Spell? Cure / Inflict

Rules Questions

Intensified Spell (Metamagic)

Your spells can go beyond several normal limitations.

Benefit: An intensified spell increases the maximum number of damage dice by 5 levels. You must actually have sufficient caster levels to surpass the maximum in order to benefit from this feat. No other variables of the spell are affected, and spells that inflict damage that is not modified by caster level are not affected by this feat.

Level Increase: +1 (an intensified spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.)

Cure is described as healing but can damage undead. Inflict is damage but can heal undead.

Can cure be intensified as it can deal damage with dice? If not can Inflict? Is the effect situational to when the spell actually deals damage? Because the two spells are more or less identical.

Also can you apply it to any old spell and not have it do anything?

No. It increases the max damage DICE by 5 levels.

Cure/Inflict spells don't have increasing dice, they have static increases and "No other variables of the spell are affected".

You want Empower for them.

I dont think it would do anything as the ammount of dice of damage dealt is not scaled by level. Its a flat 1d8, 3d8 etc depending on the spell. The only thing that scales it the +1 per level to a cap of +5, +10 etc
A Cure Light Wounds is a level 1 doing 1d8 +1 to a max of 1d8+5
an Cure Moderate Wounds is a level 2 doing 2d8 +1 to a max of 2d8+10.
An intensified CLW would be a level 2 spell doing 1d8+1 to a max (if it even worked at all which im sure it doesn't) 1d8+10
Take the CMW over an intensified CLW anyday.

I forgot about that. It's been a wile sense I've used them. Oops.

Life oracle has a revelation that can remove the level cap from the + modifiers of cure spells.
