I think we can hold out a little longer as well. We could try contacting some of the original applicants, as well.

Anwel, did the second link I gave you work?

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

Aye. I enjoyed it very much.

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

Good to hear. It's a conglomeration of things I was given by my original DM, and things that I came up with myself. I really enjoyed what I got when I first got it, as well.

Udoeak Duskwalker wrote:

These are the applicants who made a final submission, but were not selected:

Aldus Cottontail, human witch
Robeno Cizani, human cleric
Lem Clawfoot, kobold ranger
Garric, half-elf ranger
Hazel Medvyed, human sorceress

Of these five, Aldus, Garric, and Hazel are involved in PbPs; Hazel's and Garric's are Kingmaker PbPs.

Sounds good to me. Lets keep it going for another couple days and then we'll see where we are.

Bimbur have any thoughts on the applicants?

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

I did rather like Lem. Hazel and Garric are out, then. Aldus as well, likely.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

Well, I've messaged Lem and Roberto. We'll see if they respond.

Dwarf HP 11/11; AC 16/11ff/15t; Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +5 Init +4; Per+7/9stone CMD=17(21) Monk (Zen Archer) Perfect Strike 1/1

I concur with your choices. Kobold ranger, how interesting. We are short on melee frontliners. A paladin of Erastil would have been nice.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

At the moment, before any recruiting, we have one magical melee damage-dealer, one martial ranged damage-dealer, and one magical support character. IMHO, we should recruit two melee damage-dealers, one magical and one martial, plus one more magical support character. We are in a position to recruit just such a trio, and according to Kudos he'll be posting his choices some time today.

Welcome new folks to our group. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our group.

Don't go into great detail since you are not exactly "with the group" just yet.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

Welcome, welcome. In the spirit of things, since it'd be weird if the new folks did and since all our old party's faces have drifted off somewhere, I've kicked off the IC thread again.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Hi All, thanks for inviting me. Any plans on how to introduce us into the story as yet?

Additionally is there any other extra information that you need from me?

Hello everyone thanks for my selection. Not to put anyone on the spot but to learn what DM's and other players are looking for, what about my presentation decided you on me?

As for introductions I'm in the Central Time Zone of the USA. I've lurked for years on these boards and last year started playing on it, so far three games have died do to GM's not able to continue or more often just disappearing. I'm in two others, one a Kingmaker. I've noticed that events play so different with each DM and group that it seems like they each have a different copy of the adventure. As for my character this is my attempt at answering the question, can a viable arcane healer be made in Pathfinder, we'll find out. Of course he's more versatile than that, Stellan is a man of many small talents.

Stellan is a mostly an outgoing fellow but recent events have pushed him into a darker place, maybe it's best if an established player of this game starts the conversation?

I gather by your selection that, DM_Kudos, that you are good with a winter wolf familiar, it will be many levels before Vinur grows big and strong, and at PbP speeds that will be some time.

Is there anything else I can or should do before we begin play?

Thanks again.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Ok, read the IC thread and introducing the new players shouldn't be a problem.
Kudos are you happy if we are with the Guards? Can we jump into the IC thread?

Hi Thanks for being invited into your game, I'm looking forward to playing with you all.

I'm in the UK and been RPGing for only about 10 yrs or so, which means I was late into the RPG fold, as I'm no longer a young spring chicken, I have over a half-century of experience behind me ... hoping for a lot more to come .. :)

I live on the south coast of England, Portsmouth, with my wife and remnants of my family. We have a couple of kids, well they were kids now the're 22 and 19, the eldest living close to London.

Recently found some Society players and migrated into that group. Normal playing night is Monday, so posts after 6pm UK time are very rare. Really excited to be attending my first PaizoConUK in July. Have played all versions of D&D except 4th (& 5th), plus quite a few other systems and games too.

This actually the first character I made that was accepted into a game, so its really nice for Gorax to get a second outing. A tea total warrior with a severe dislike of alcohol, hoping he'll get on with the rest of the party too.

Looking forward to a lot of fun and escapades with this fine bunch of adventurers. Let me know if there's anything else you need to know, do, change about Gorax?

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

I created this Timeline to keep track when reading IC thread but seems like a campaign that something like this would be useful.

In general introduction, I live in Australia, I have been playing lots of different RPGs for about 20 years but I'm fairly new to PbP role-playing having recently moved city and losing my regular face to face games.

Generally can put in small posts during the day at tea breaks and lunch at work but bigger ones in the evening.

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

Welcome to you all. I'm glad I've got some buddies to hang out in the melee with now.

Gorax, You've got me beat on RPG experience. I've only played 3.0/3.5, PF, and an incredibly small amount of Exalted. I've only been gaming about 2.5 years, so I'm pretty new to this, myself.

Andrei, timeline looks about right.

Stellan, you submitted a very versatile character, and that's something I look for in builds. You've got general support, debuffs, healing, and utility in the Witch Class, a class that I enjoy very much. Your backstory was entertaining for me, and your build is solid, but also much different with your stat distribution than I usually see. It's an all-around good submission.

Welcome all again. Its good to bolster the ranks and see the posts going again.

Well since my previous post did nothing for actually introducing myself, I'll try this again.

I've been gaming for at least 10 years now. Started right off with RPGs at the beginning and later branched out but always have my love for DnD / PF.

My play style, as some might be able to attest to, is one where I try to maximize the fun while minimizing the mundane. If you're not having fun while doing this, please say so and I will do whatever I can to change. I don't take offense if someone thinks I suck because I do believe that it is very possible to suck at DM'ing.

That being said, lets have a grand 'ole time!

Dwarf HP 11/11; AC 16/11ff/15t; Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +5 Init +4; Per+7/9stone CMD=17(21) Monk (Zen Archer) Perfect Strike 1/1

I commend you on a versatile witch build. My main concern with the witch class is the slumber hex. I have been converted to the opinion that it can be too strong.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

Eh, builds. I just really liked the way the backstories were put together, and I mean that pretty much across the board.

Oh, and you've had a taste of each of our IC personae, so feel free to get cracking!

Don't mistake length of time playing for skill at playing ... :)

And as for DMing, it's a lot of hard work to do it well, or even to do it at all. So DM_K you have my utmost respect already, even if I might moan and winge at a later date ...

Just a quick note to give GM Kudos permission to make any rolls my behalf to speed things up, initiative, perception, saving throws or any others. To me this hardly needs to be said but some GMs are reluctant to make rolls for players so I thought I make sure you knew I was fine with it.

Quote:
"Will we hunt on the way or go straight through? Pardon me, I should have asked before, who is the groups leader?" Stellan asks the last with a bit of naivety or is it wisdom?

Um...we don't actually know. See, the history of this group is very odd. This is a PbP, so leadership is naturally going to devolve on someone who posts often. Udoeak, and two others who have since left, were kicked out of an RL group following various misadventures and asked Kudos to start up this PbP. Jeremiah and Udoeak were the most talkative of that bunch. Of the four recruits, the most talkative were Khargol and Anwel. I don't think we were together long enough to evolve a leader, though if we had been it probably would have been one of those four.

Of the three that remain - Anwel, Bimbur, and Udoeak - Anwel tends to talk the most, and things tend to go his way when there's a decision to be made.

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

This is absolutely true. I've slowed down recently, as I haven't been feeling well, but there isn't a designated leader. Anwel definitely tends to talk the most, and as far as Udoeak is concerned, he usually agrees with what Anwel decides, and it's just fine with him that Anwel takes the attention to himself.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

re: doing most of the talking

I, me, the person sitting behind a keyboard and typing this out, am an insufferable know-it-all. So when it comes time to infodump, either to NPCs or to newly recruited players, I tend to talk even more than I normally do. Once we get underway, things should settle down into a more natural rhythm.

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

It's all good, Anwel. You're doin' fine.

I took Udo out of the way for the time being because I haven't been feeling well, and haven't been getting on as often lately. I'll be back to normal soon, I've got a good immune system.

My sincerest apologies friends, but I'm out on vacation till Monday. I should be able to sneak in a post to move us along to the next section of the map in the next day.

Didn't want to fall silent here so I'm just dropping this note.

Many thanks to all for waiting patiently on my return. I would have moved the story along, but as it turned out, the relative's house we stayed at lost power so I was boiling hot and had no internet.

Male Elf Shadowcaster 4

Ugh, that must have been hellish. Are you back in the AC?

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

I'll swap you some of your heat for my cool (I'm sitting in front of a heater and it is the middle of the day.) No problem with the delay.

Oh yes! Definitely back in the AC and my this is just another reminder of what a wondrous invention.

I do want to mention though that this entire session is really challenging my writing skills and while I'm enjoying brushing up on my vocab / grammar, please understand if my descriptions suck. That being said, if they do just say and I'll be happy to go into further detail.

I will address Andrei's question here ...

As for the horses, I am not opposed to them being there and they should probably be there, but I'll leave it to a group vote.

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

As long as Oleg's cool with it. I really don't care one way or another.

Silver Crusade

Male Human(Shoanti) Fighter 2 HPs 13/13 AC 15/T12/FF13

Unless a character has an aversion to horses, then I believe the adventure is set up to provide the party characters with horses. They are the normal mode of transport in the lands, the bandits have them etc. so I'd vote for horses.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

Gorax has convinced me, I was planning to buy a horse as soon as I could afford one any way.

Oleg is definityly on good terms with the group (saving his outpost showed a great gesture of good will on the party's behalf) and lending them horseback to roam the lands would not be a strech of his abilities.

I intended on providing horses (as per the adventure) but deviation from the storyline didn't pan out the way I wanted so we can just correct that.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

I'm a little confused reading the game thread,

Kudos said wrote:

As you march southward, covering familiar terrain, you notice that in the distance there is a small hill. This hill is not unlike any you have encountered before but what makes this particularly interesting is the single tree that sits atop it. Seeing as this is a break in the monotony of simple lands, you decide to make your way to it. Certainly it couldn't hurt to take rest here as it is the only form of shade for quite the distance.

I had read this as we should go there and rest. Bilbur talked about scouting ahead to the hill and others are talking about resting. Are we at the hill already? Or are we resting before we get to the tree?

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

I believe before we get to the tree, Bimbur and now Stellan are scouting it out. Once they give the all clear, we'll come up, and we'll all rest.

What he ^^^ said.

Arright, so next time we end up at Oleg's we'll get (pay for?) horses. I think we can move on up the hill. There's nothing to be gained from everyone saying "I climb the hill" individually.

Sounds fine to me, Andrei hasn't opened the spell book as he can't gain from it and doesn't want to cause damage for someone who can. At some point we should have an in character discussion about loot, but I was going to wait until we had a real amount of loot to share out. I might add another editable google doc unless someone prefers it elsewhere.

17/17HP; AC17/13/14; Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +0; Init+3; Perception +7

Sounds good to me. Depending on what the wand is a wand of, that could be of use amongst any of our casters, including myself, the ring could go anywhere based on what it is, and the spellbook will likely be going to Andwel and redistributed to Stellan and/or me.

Silver Crusade

Male Human(Shoanti) Fighter 2 HPs 13/13 AC 15/T12/FF13

I can feel a prestidigitation or something similar to get the spellbook into a state one of you magic users can read it.

In character, Gorax isn't really in it to make lots of money and get lots of things, but he hopefully will get dibs on fighting type items and magic items to help him survive. Its a good idea about the google doc, treasure we don't use should be held as party money and distributed evenly to the characters, however somethings we might want to pool money for Cure type wands etc. In those cases we should have to each contribute to the cost for the good of the party.

Dwarf HP 11/11; AC 16/11ff/15t; Fort +4, Ref +4, Will +5 Init +4; Per+7/9stone CMD=17(21) Monk (Zen Archer) Perfect Strike 1/1

I am in favor of giving characters the ability to pick treasure items at selling (not buying) value. It reduces their monetary share, but encourages them to make do with what is found. If no want wants the item, it can be converted to cash.

Male Human Bard 3 (Arcane Duellist); HP: 4/30 AC: 15/11/14; Saves: F +3, R +4, W +1; Init: +1; Per: +4

I'm total fine with players picking treasure at selling price. It shouldn't decrease it it just won't increase it. I have also done some middle ground between buying and selling price, it worked but the maths was messy.
I'll set up a google doc. On that topic, the dairy has a link from my profile and while in game Andrei is keeping a dairy of the events anyone can update google one.
