In the Hero Lab application, it appears that it applies the Favored Class bonus immediately at 1st Level. Is that correct for core rules? I thought that the bonus only applies on new levels.
The core rules seem ambiguous about the cost of cold-iron weapons. I know that the weapon costs double the price. But, does it have to be Masterwork as well. The rules don't seem clear there (but Hero Lab assumes Masterwork is necessary). In fact, during society play, everyone at the table seemed to think that Masterwork was only necessary if making the item magical.
One can make a non masterwork Cold Iron weapon if you choose.
One can make it MW later if you want as well, with the appropriate spell, of course. Even in Society play.
Oh, and yes, Favored Class bonuses are also gained at first level.

My HeroLab does not assume masterwork for Cold Iron weapons; it simply doubles the base price of the weapon. You may want to check your options and see if you have anything weird checked off.
Okay, I see in Hero Lab now where you can just select the custom weapon information and just make it cold-iron without masterwork.
Thanks for the responses. I wish the book was a bit more clear, especially with the Favored Class bonus.
What is confusing about Favored Class Bonuses?
You pick a class and apply the bonus whenever you take a level in that class.

Yes, but are you "taking" a level when you start a 1st level character? Hero Lab says Yes and so does at least one previous response.
Yes, you do "take" first level too.
Cold Iron weapon can be Masterwork, or Non-Masterwork, and the Masterwork cost is separate.
Every single level, including your first level, can gain a favored class bonus, if it is a level, in your favored class.
