Brawler, what is in a name?

Advanced Class Guide Playtest General Discussion

Hi all
If, or should I say when, the brawler hybrid class becomes official, what happens to the fighter (brawler) archetype. Reason I'm asking is I'm playing one as a PFS character, and I really like it. Do we have two different brawlers, with the confusion that could make, does the fighter (brawler) get rewritten into the brawler, or does the archetype fade away.

Not an important question I suppose but I am interested in peoples views.

Pretty sure the official position taken is that they (Brawler - the Hybrid, and Fighter (Brawler)) can still exist and without *too* much confusion. I don't personally have a problem with the various double-ups of names.

As far as I am aware, your Fighter (Brawler) wil not be affected and should be fine for PFS. Please anyone correct me if this is in error.

[EDIT - pretty sure it was also a stated aim also not to invalidate anything previously published, so no archetypes will necessarily fade away though some *may* be overshadowed by Hybrids.]

The newly introduced Class has no connection to the Archetype and will not affect it.

I'm closing this thread, as we already have a general thread on the class names here. If the class name discussion interests you, please follow up in that thread. Thanks!

(And we're playing a game where "level" has at least four different meanings depending on context, I think we're able to handle archetype names overlapping with each other and with a new base class.)
