While I liked the previous class, the Blood Focus seemed a little... Eh. Gotta say, I'm loving the sound of the revision. I'm looking forward to seeing the revision.... *Waits patiently.... Explodes in anticipation five seconds later.*
That said....
Yay for the casting staying the same! I'm hoping the Arcanist gets counter-spell/dispel shenanigans with that flavor... As anyone in my playgroup can tell you, I'm an abjuration nut (anarchic blooded hyper-dispelling sorcerer is go!).
I especially love the idea of monkeying around with the fundamental forces of reality. Fiddling with the reality of arcane power is good enough to satisfy me... Though, that really does make me want to build an LE Vanara Arcanist named Mojo.
Would it be too much cheese to let the Arcanist devour arcane power and use them to re-charge their spell slots? Maybe equal to their class level/half their class level/int modifier.... (Edit) Then again, with how the basic spell casting is at the moment, that would indeed be a lot of cheese, so would require a revisit to their spell casting... That said, I hope that ability gets used somewhere in the future as a class ability.

By the way, just so you know, Jason wrote up the Arcanist revision last night starting at 1:30 AM.
1:30 am is clearly the best time to be up writing the Arcanist. Don't blame me if he has a power that allows him to regain arcane power by drinking rum.
Who's ready for Drunken Fireballs?

It better be magic rum.

I think that could be a lot of fun if they got some combination of hexes, a familiar, or more of these coming Arcanist talents in return.
No What i mean is a prestige class, requiring access to second level spells from a prepared and a spontaneous arcane casting class giving full spell casting progression in both. Exactly like the mystic theurge which mixes arcane and divine.
