I thought there was only one clone in the van? I was surprised the woman wasn't disturbed by it. I expected Kennex to go and high five Dorrain. Seriously, Kennex shot a guy in the face to avoid a trial and a lot of headaches. Those two seem to be a perfect match. Almost Judge Dredd.

I was expecting there to be a twist: The clones had committed all the crimes and the original was innocent (muahaha).

Nope. The plot was pretty straightforward.

Also, why did the van explode?

And are clones not legally human?

Sovereign Court

Technically speaking, clones have no rights and basically aren't human beings.

Heh, clone hunting...

As they had said in the episode human cloning was declared illegal. Not really sure what status they would have had since it was already a fait accompli.

No, not even remotely.

Maybe if they weren't insane murderous thugs who brutally killed a young scared innocent nurse for questionable reasons.

I also think they're aware what the DRN series are capable of (they were in service before). And, it was already noted how Kennex would likely feel.

So the Lenny Kravitz-bot can flip a van at full sprint. And he got the ever-living stuffing beat out of him by that other robot-guy a few episodes back.

It's terrifying to consider what that guy would have been capable of... and are there others out there stronger still?

Sooo I am liking the show!

Any one pick up the references on "The Wall"?

It was referenced in the "Pilot" while the MX came up to his car asking Kennex what he was doing.

Then again in "Blood Brothers" when the guy in prison was summing up the Captain. Something along the lines she did real well with the "situation on the wall".

Plus also at least on the Pilot Episode, haven't paid enough attention on the other episodes to see if it was also on them, that the distant view of the city landscape shows a nice modern looking city with a fair amount of green grass in the foreground.

If pause it just right the deeper you go back you see older style (todays maybe) buildings grey and darker with a HUGE wall around them. If you could use the newer buildings as a reference it has to be around 20 to 30 stories high. Also looks to have some type of glow to it so force field or some other type of electric current flowing through it.

I just hope the show goes on long enough to figure out what is behind that wall.

As to Dorian flipping the van, my take on it was that his emotions mad him go overboard with protecting/revenging a friend. Which would explain why he never did it before.....maybe read to much into it.

My take on the Android tank in the episode where he almost got his but kicked I was guessing that it might of been an early military model built for combat.

With the MX models being the newest military type models because they found having them with to much emotions cause problems....or something like that.

All just opinions.....

Liberty's Edge

Also looked a little into the "Wall" yesterday to see if I could find anything on it.

People have noticed it but nothing really more than what I have said.

I did find out though that the series first 7 to 8 episodes well be aired out of order. Why do this? Its crazy....oh its Fox...did the same with Firefly.....

Star Trek on NBC too...

Loving. This. Show.

Sovereign Court

I liked episode no. 7 very very much. It was a good mix of contemporary and fancy SF tech.

Portable force fields that can withstand explosions? NICE

Man, poor Gaeta just can't catch a break no matter what show he is on.

Didn't realize we had a thread for this. Really enjoying this show. Dorian and Kennex's interactions are easily the best part about the show, just feels like there's a lot of chemistry there, and it didn't take them long at all to pull it off (unlike a lot of buddy cop shows which either take a while to get there, or NEVER quite pull it off).

Honestly, the only real difference between this and other procedurals is this one actually admits the science involved is sci-fi.

That being said, I'm continuing to find it entertaining. I was a little curious about the bad guys'

robot. Was he a contemporary of Dorian's line? He seemed a little less "stiff" than the modern models and did the similar face glowing thing, albeit purple. I can only assume they got a hold of him the same way Rudy claimed to have gotten a hold of Dorian.

Spoiler:
I'm pretty sure there was an off-hand remark that he was a black market/refurbished DRN, so yes.

So I caught up over the weekend. Still not super-engaged in the plot (mystery about The Wall not-withstanding) but the show does a great job with the humorous aspects. Thoroughly enjoy Dorian and Kennex's banter. Now if they can either get the drama firing correctly, or realize they may be better-served by playing to their strengths and taking the show a little lighter.

Liking it.

Caught my attention from Ep 1 by having a solid lead actor and a fair homage to Blade Runner.

Hope this show lasts!

Would like a bit more grit and 'cyberpunk', a touch more original Robocop and we're away :)

Apparently the next episode will feature Gina Carano as a killer robot, which seems like the role she was born to play.

Oh sign me up! <3 Gina.

Sovereign Court

Yeah next weeks episode is looking real pretty!

Sovereign Court

Well, I loved this weeks episode. Especially the look on John's face when he grabs the leg in the end of the episode.

Soooo... i heard the show hasn't been picked back up? Anyone have any answers on this?

Sovereign Court

Haven't heard anything.

Now THAT'S the way to make a season finale. No craptastic cliffhanger nonsense - and actual ending that's upbeat. That's more like it.

(Might make sense if it isn't renewed, but still.)

Sovereign Court

Strong start but its starting to get repetitive. Hope they get at least one more season maybe try and let some of these stories they are hanging out there develop into something.

Scarab Sages

There hasn't been a decision made yet. It's not looking good for renewal based on FOX moving Bones back into the timeslot. It's an expensive show to make, and Fox aired episodes out of order. It has decent ratings despite that, so I am holding out hope it gets renewed. However Fox is where good shows regularly get killed by network mismanagement.

Maybe Netflix will be able to pick it up if Fox doesn't renew.

Season Finale? NOOOOOOOOOOO

Yeah, Fox is a show killer. Also, what is with their stupidity of airing episodes out of order?

Seriously. Fox. What the hell? (again)

Dark Archive

This is easily one of the best shows on TV, so, yeah, it's no great surprise that Fox might screw it up.

I found the finale weirdly upbeat in comparison to the rest of the show so far (I mean, yes, we had a serial killer, but they actually had the opportunity to save the victims) and even Detective Paul got to assist constructively with the case and have a scene showing him to not be a complete jerk. It felt very much like "We don't know if we're getting another season or not, so here's an episode with a vague sense of closure."

I hope it comes back, simply because the Kennex and Dorian bickering in the car scenes are highly entertaining and I do want to know more about the world, particularly The Wall, but it certainly didn't blow me away at any point this season.

That part, him giving the money to the homeless kid, was pretty strongly out of character, based on what we've seen of him all season (especially in the beginning, when he practically had 'I'm the traitor who ratted you out to Insyndicate' tattooed on his forehead). And yet, we've really only seem him dealing with his fellow cops, almost all of whom seem to regard him as 'the jerk,' and this might be the only time we've seen him not with his guard up.

I agree. I was pointing it more as another instance of them trying to make a more "feel good" episode, which clashed with the rest of the episodes a bit.

That being said, considering the beat cops apparently put together a decent contribution for his "surgery" (at least enough that the one cop doing the collecting wasn't embarrassed to bring it to Maldonado), Paul apparently isn't universally hated in the department. Just by Kennex (and to a lesser degree, Stahl.)

Dark Archive

Ha, that's funny. I didn't remember his name, so when Kennex was coming up with outrageous reasons why some dude was out sick, I had no idea it was that guy. Now it's much funnier. I just thought it was Kennex randomly being mean to some dude I'd never heard of...

I blogged about the show (and hope for a new season) today.

I just heard recently that this show is not being renewed...:(

Shadow Lodge

I read that as well, but was not certain if it was fact or speculation. Hoping it is not true.

Dark Archive

It's true
JJ Abrams' Almost Human axed after one season

Fox just doesn't get SciFi.

/sigh/

Sovereign Court

Strong beginning, but it dropped off later in the season. I had hopes but as it got more and more average by the week I could tell it was in trouble.

I do agree with some of the complaints:

Too much 'crime-procedure' and not enough 'almost human'/'ghost in the shell' stuff.

Fox doesn't understand the concept of broadcasting episodes in the correct order.

Shadow Lodge

Im not sure the out of order mattered for this one, and may have actually been a good move.
