I have a little project going on and I need some help from everyone who is or was involved with the Mecha sub-genre or anything related to it (i.e. giant robot armor in pop culture)
I'm trying to collect a list of weapons that these wonderfully improbable machines use. Let's skip right past any giant version of human hand-held weapons and go into the types of weapons the typical gundam-style mechs use that are integrated into their physiques.
So far I could think of the typical modern weapons, such as
Lasers
Missile pods
Chain guns
Rocket launchers
flame throwers
and as for more exotic weapons i have
Torso beam cannon
Rocket Punch
Liquid Metal weapon (as in the Zaibach weapons from Escaflowne)
Arm drill
Anything you can come up with, that you have seen or read about it somewhere, be it a mecha anime/manga, sentai show or movie of any kind, let me know about it.

Lava Cannons, Graviton Guns, Gravity Disruptors, Piston Fists, Self-Destruct Devices, Plasma Vents, Mortar Tubes, Electron-Flux Whips, Flakk Turrets, Smaller Mecha (see Macross Attack), BattleMech Tasers, Cruise Missile Batteries, Radiation Beams...
It's actually harder to name weapons that haven't been mounted on giant robots.

If it can be used as a weapon in any way, shape or form, giant robots have used it. Like dies said above, its harder to name weapons giant robots have NOT used.
You might want to look up the super robot wars series of games and get ideas from there. They are meticulous with getting the attacks robots use just right.

Don't forget the number one weapon of all female mecha everywhere: rocket boobs.
don't forget machine gun breasts !

Let's see...
Big O
Those chains he sends out and controls (at least seems like controls)
His punch thing he does.
The purple laser from his foreahead.
Opens up and all those weapons come out.
The other punch where he sends tons of weapons through the enemy.
Voltron
His sword
I seem to recall the lions able to do firebreath and freezebreath (I think?)
Magic Knight Rayearth
The Magic Knights could use Mecha versions of their spells, right?
Wow, this list means I need to watch more Mecha Anime.

In short, Buster Collider are pylons that open up out of the forearms and calves of the Gunbuster and impale into the target, then the gunbuster channels enormous amounts of energy from it's reactors into the target through the pylons.
Since it fights giant living space monsters, it's pretty effective.
