Question on Pathfinder Companion and Pathfinder Player Companion

I have pdf's with both titles, none of the same name though, was just wondering if the companion was change to player companion for newer books and if I should find the player versions of the books I have.

Yes, they were initially titled as 'Pathfinder Companion' and later changed the series to be 'Pathfinder Player Companion'.

They just switched the name. There are some "Pathfinder Companion" books that are for D&D 3.5, as long as I know there aren't Pathfinder versions of those.
