how does a 8th level wizard get spell resistance without any items that gives it spell resistance?
we killed one yesterday and he had spell resistance without any items.
was the dm being a douche, trying to Nerf a oracle of flame that casts dazing fireballs with a dc of 19?
You're lucky your DM allows the dazing metamagic feat at all.
There are several legitimate ways for a character to get spell resistance, be glad as someone else pointed out, that he didn't cast lesser globe of invulnerability.

As a player I'd be overjoyed if my DM banned dazing metamagic feat. I know it is a powerful option for your characters and you will probably lay waste to a lot of encounters with it... But the enemy only need to defeat your group once and if dazing metamagic is allowed I'd expect it to be used on the group aswell.

I've seen players cry foul after launching their dazing metamagic spell only to be hit by the enemy's dazing spell. It's amazing how they can appreciate when something is too strong when used against them, but fail to recognize that power when they're using it.

Exactly. I drooled when I first read that metamagic feat and then I started fearing it because I'm a player more often than I'm a DM. I will almost always ban the feat. When my players are upset about a ban of mine I always say: "Well. If you guys get access to it just know that my badguys will to.. If you are comfortable with that then fine. Just know that I only need to succeed once while you always have to win." Usually that is enough to get people to see it my way.
