There is also a table, currently in the Tavern.
This table is magical in nature, in that it shows upon it anything that has been explored by a member of the community. It shows an illusion in the air above it of multiple views.
One can see the kingdom as a whole, with different colors marking where various units are located. and a "fog of war" effect where it has been unexplored.
One can also look at Haven (or any future cities) and see down the the district plans.
It has a maximum radius of 50 hexes.
It does not show enemy troops, only citizens. perhaps it could be upgraded somehow though.

Each hex is 12 miles corner-corner.

Dark Archive

Haha It is. It is worth like 100K or something.

Ooh... That table sounds like where I will be spending most of my days. Not least of all because it is in a Tavern!

Silver Crusade

You have to realize something about the tavern.

None of the warforged eat or drink OR sleep
There are 402 Warforged at Haven
There are 60 Humanoids that need to eat.
Before you heroes arrived there was 3, consumption was at -12 with the druid creating food for the other joel and klokk.
Even Including the Small Army of 50 Lizardmen, consumption is still at -11.4

So the tavern was a place that was created for you guys. The treasury is there. A simple chest sitting on another table in the room, it can be moved by someone keyed to it. It cannot be opened by anyone not keyed to it or a trap will go off.

None of the warforged seem to really care about gold. Duties are performed currently for no pay. But there are no taxes. It is really strange for everyone else.

Even you Fabricator, think it is strange that considering how much you like gold that none of them are getting paid, or complaining.

There are no shops. IF someone needs a tool or armor or weapon, someone makes it and then they go back to simply gathering materials.

Silver Crusade

The warforged may spend month of 24 hours a day mining, but then spend the next two sitting by the ocean stairing at the water or fishing, or contemplating the mysteries of what warforged dream. It all balances out to the same productivity that a human would grant.

Do you allow custom items? I was thinking about having an intelligent headband.

Silver Crusade

ohh yes. Also allow things to be described however you want.

Klokk has a staff that looks like an oversized dwarven waraxe, another that looks like a smithing hammer. Hes made a staff for a wizard that looks like an oversized rifle. A druid has a wand of healing that looks like a sickle.

If you want a STR headband, thats also cool.
or a pair of boots that function like a cloak of resistances.

as long as the item is legit via xp, gold, spells cast upon it. it can be made.

May even cost less XP or Time to make something with an amazing description.

I'm not exactly sure what items people would like, so I'd like the master artificer to pick up the medium item (8000 - 28000 gp is the approximate price range for medium items), and the magister and I suppose, the explorer, can each pick up a minor item (<8000 gp).

I'm not exactly sure what you would like, and it gives you some great chance to customize to fit. :)

Silver Crusade

[b]Haven
Haven is located in a natural bay along a freshwater ocean, out to sea is Mountain, other than that there are no other islands that you can see. A river flows down from the south. The area appears to be mostly mountainous or hilly, more farther inland(south) forests and plains fill the map.
Population: 462.

Treasury: 28 BP

+18.0 Economy
+06.0 BP gained of materials a month
+34.5 Stability
+26.0 Defense

Holiday Edicts: None (-1 Loyalty)
Promotion Level: Expansionist (+4 Stability +8 Consumption)(vary heavy use of the creation forge)
Taxation: None (+1 Loyalty)

May Currently increase 1 settlement, 2 buildings, 3 terrain, claim 2 hexes a month if improvement edicts allow

(Think thats what i need for the city block. Correct?)

Dark Archive

Hmm... No Holiday Edicts hmm? I believe that is my area right?

Silver Crusade

IF anyone has the book Airships by Samm Witt for d20. The map table functions exactly as the component Reactive Map, only extending for 50 hexes instead of miles in all lateral directions and grants a +10 to all geography based checks while standing around it.

Silver Crusade

Yup. thats just how klokk set things up, welcome to change the edicts the first month. He asked and the warforged said it dont matter, he trusted them :)

Dark Archive

Hmm... I will think about the Holidays, see what I can come up with. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Item 1: Supreme Psychic Staff (Minor Wondrous Item)

Discreet patterns weave in and out of this simple-looking Hanbo, borne of both arcane and psionic magicks. A small symbol caps the base, providing the bonding slot of an ioun stone. At the head is a small crown, designed to grasp a psicrystal. A friendly companion stone orbits the psicrystal.

Item 2: Intelligent Headband of Intelligence +4 (Medium Wondrous Item)

A simple crystalline band accented with a single clear gem holds the simulated consciousness of Feorina's daughter, created out of her loneliness and longing for her missing child. Her constant companion, the headband watches out for her and matches wonderfully with her formal attire.

Actually found the full rules for Airship. here

Silver Crusade

Feorina
The middle aged, but child to you, human named Joel turns to you and asks. "so how do you decide to split the items up? Do you choose to keep them all for yourself? Do you split them up among some of the other new recruits like yourslf. Do you choose to get some things that would help haven as a whole?" And why?

__
of the other players only Fabricator is yet present within Haven.
Your standing in the huge library (consider all 4 buildings connected and adjacent to the joels tower. )If you wish to attempt to overhear roll a perception check. Fabricator, your studying a book and they are standing about 30' away in the empty quarter of the library.

Joel has told me a few things to ask, regardless of what you choose, things he wants to know to learn Feorina's mindset though this first challenge for the diplomat (This would have gone to whoever was the diplomat, so not picking on you.)

Silver Crusade

Resnit.
I think they will let you keep that link up. if not, i found a hard copy at half-priced books here for 10 bucks a year ago. I think paizo may sell the PDF. that could be the issue too.

Sorry if that causes an issue.

"Naturally I wanted to benefit Haven the most, but I was not entirely sure that creating items that directly benefited Haven would be the most efficient method. I reasoned that we were only brought because we had something special to offer."

"To this end, I have decided to split the items among the recruits. I have given the choice of the medium magical item to the artificer and treasurer among us, as his prosperity will be the prosperity of us all."

For two minor magical items, I have given the choice to the magister and the explorer. Understanding the new world is a combined task of divinations and physical exploration, and as that is one of our major tasks."

"For my item, I decided on an item that I would be unable to make myself, a dual psionic-arcane staff. Our recruiter gave me this beautiful Hanbo, and I want to treasure it forever."

"Lastly, there was one choice of item left to make. Perhaps it was my loneliness, or my elderly sentimentality." She chuckles and coughs. "But I have chosen to bring the memory of my daughter to life, in a headband that, symbolically, expands my understanding of the world."

"Each of these items will complement our own unique strengths, and contribute to the colony as a whole. I've chosen to make the investment not in material goods, but in people.

Discussion thread is up.

Im working on the first post for the game-play thread and then I will start the ball rolling. Its tuesday, but i thought today was tomarrow and i had to be my brothers for a tabletop game right now. But i dont till tomorrow night.

So Ill get things started within a couple hours.

Silver Crusade

Unless there is any last minute things that I should know about your characters beyond whats on their sheets and posted in this thread, I am considering this thread to be canon.

I am going to be vary liberal with usages of your characters for setting the tale up in the OP.

Beyond the OP, unless your away for a week with no explanation i will never make your characters do anything, even then they will act in character.

I'm going to broaden her backstory about how she lost her daughter, but everything else is set.

Silver Crusade

for your item, do you want an item that will always show you the way back to a place you bind it to(ie your favorite chair in the Tavern)? kinda like a wayfarer compass?

That sounds cool but I was thinking about a boat of folding. I can cross plains climb mountains but swimming the ocean is beyond me.

Can you choose the equipment for the warforged troops?
Any medium or Light armor or shield
They may have any 1 exotic or martial weapon. as many simple weapons as they wish. Muskets DO count as martial weapons.

How big is the warforged military component? Are we looking to have them all the same type of unit?

Looking now, i have an idea from 3.5 in mind, just gotta find something comparable.

I feel this has to be done before the start of the game. So I am setting this before the tour when I get the magical Item from Feorina I am putting this here because I don't want to mess up the gameplay threads time line and I wasn't sure i should step in.

Smiling broadly and letting the sunlight glitter brightly in his metallic silver hair Resnit strides toward Feorina. His head tilted just so that the bright gold of his eyes seems to glow like molten gold. His shadow even holding itself in profile against a near by wall.

My lady I thank you yet again for such a gracious gift. The choice of item did not come easily. I approached Joel as you suggested and asked for the item you allowed me.

Resnit carefully pauses his words to build a bit of suspense.

I requested a folding boat, the perfect tool for exploration. I can cross plains, climb mountains but swimming the ocean is beyond me and dangerous since we have little idea of the beasts that live in this new sea. I don't know when she will be done but I shall christen her after you and call her Feorina's Gift.

Feorina nods slightly. "I'm truly honored, but I am only the messenger. Perhaps we shall say that the name is for good luck; let the Feorina's Gift never sink until Fate herself wills it!"

Fabricator
There are 100 of them.
1 Medium sized army.
All armored/armored the same. For the smiths its easier to make 100 long swords then 33 longs swords, 1 spear, 3 halbards, and so forth. So they are all wearing the same type of armor and using the same type of weapons.

They are all either miners or lumberjacks (your choice) by profession. as such basically give you guys a 4th unit of civilians in addition to the 1 unit of military they give you.

Usul
There are 50 of the Lizardmen
Basically 1 Small sized army.

They will function more as craftsmen, but if the army of warforged get deployed they will be activated to guard the town.. Other then that, you are free to decide what they will to settle in.

Resnit
Your welcome to talk to her or it about anything (not sure fabricators gender, WF can be either or gender neutral iirc) that you want to. assume the conversation above took place in the morning shortly after you arrived but before you two met up in the tavern to go over the additions to the map.

for the army: Repeating Heavy Crossbows. If they time their volleys, there will be only be 20% of the force reloading at a time.

Mundane weapons, Spear is fine. It is one of the best "mass combat" weapons i think.

Armor, I would say Breastplate unless their DEX bonus is +4, in which case i would say Chain shirt.

Silver Crusade

I am sure that is a tactic that they would learn. Why not a musket instead of a repeater crossbow? Martial weapon vs Exotic. Then wouldnt need to spend a their L1 feat on a weapon and can take psiforged or adamantine body

I imagined adamantine body would slow them down, and psiforged wouldnt do much for them unless they are psionic characters.

I didn't pick muskets because those use relatively expensive and not-as-easily obtained materials for ammo.

The Exchange

For the Marshal can I get one MW ranged and only one MW melee weapon.

Silver Crusade

Fabricator
Here is a good choice.

Option 1
1 Medium sized army of Warforged Fighters 14 14 16 10 10 10
Breastplate, Spear, Medium Shield(rounded) Repeating Heavy Crossbow, Psiforged body.

Option 2
1 Small sized army of Warforged Fighters 14 14 16 10 10 10
Breastplate, Spear, Medium Shield(rounded) Repeating Heavy Crossbow, Psiforged body.

AND

1 Small sized army of Warforged Rangers 14 16 14 10 10 10
Chain Shirt, Musket w baynette, Cutlass, gunsmithing, psiforged body.

_________
We are using Commonplace Guns While still expensive and tricky to wield, early firearms are readily available. Instead of requiring the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat, all firearms are martial weapons. Early firearms and their ammunition cost 25% of the amounts listed in this book, but advanced firearms and their ammunition are still rare and cost the full price to purchase or craft.

750 Gold per 3 Keg's of Powder (300 Shots)
300 Gold per 300 Musket balls (300 shots)

1050 Cost per 300 shots. 3.5 Gold cost per musket shot. 1 Available Feat, Allowing them to take Gunsmithing. Lowering the cost to .35 Gold per shot.

.20g per shot with the Bolts.

Each BP is the equivalent of 2000gold.

1 BP = 10.000 1d10 19/20 x2 Bolts
1 BP = 05.714 1d12 20 x4 Balls and powder

You do get almost 2x the bolts, but the muskets hit harder. Yeah they can missfire, but the powder could be usefull as an explosive if needed.

For the Marshal, sure ill grant that.

The Exchange

So character sheet background tomorrow here

Silver Crusade

Im confused.
Ive seen the Fighters Kit on another of your characters, where is that from? I have just inherited one of my brothers books, which includes pretty much everything PF wise (he went back to 40k) to use.. i havnt come across that item before, but then i havnt opened even half of them. Have every path from 01-current, etc all those books.. So much material. All these books explain why hes been too broke to drive anywhere, hes given Paizo all his gas money for the past many years.

I assume its a collection of things, but for future characters of mine it be awesome to know whats what.

The Exchange

Kits are here

Sorry habit from trying to keep the list tidy. This kit includes a backpack, a bedroll, a belt pouch, a flint and steel, an iron pot, a mess kit, rope, soap, torches (10), trail rations (5 days), and a waterskin.

I suppose the general would be the best person to choose between those loadouts. that's how i would envision it working anyway, the artificer talks to the general, suggests options (people in leadership positions love options, makes them feel important) then the general picks one and the artificer hops to it.

Silver Crusade

Joel is a sage, mostly, hes never been in leadership. You need to make your suggestion to the general so he can decide or the forged ones will be armed with nothing. you can count on klokk checking on it.

I will go with/suggest option 2 then. Provides some heavier-hitters, while also providing a reserve force that can lay down suppressive fire with the repeaters.

As a note, I would say that one half of the force should have spears and no shields (spears are two-handed but can brace) and the other half should have short spears and shields.

I would say the part of the force with muskets should be the ones with the longspears as they are more likely to be front-line given the musket's closer range. they can brace any charges and the ones with shields can step up and fill gaps with shields should melee ensue.

EDIT: actually maybe the musketeers should have the shields (perhaps tower shields) and the spears for bracing go to the crossbowmen that would already be behind them (since their spears' attack square would be in front of the shield wall)

Silver Crusade

"well Klokk said the matter is up to you, I just wanted to help you think outside the box a little bit." Joel says. "you obviously know more about tactics then i do. I assumed a spear was one handed and long spear was the two handed one, not short spear. Never even considered a shield wall or what sounds like couple be a good battle formation.

backstory:

Girianar Odrian was born in what was the capital of Galt. Galt is a land of chaos due to the works of Hosseter, who wrote the political essays Imperial Betrayal and Darl Jubannich who wrote the poem Woodsedge. His family had been middle class merchants for centuries he has two brothers and a sister. His family made their way in trade and was good at it but he doesn't have a head for numbers and getting him to haggle was like pulling teeth. As a child he had a coat of fairly rusty halfling sized chain-mail his parents couldn't sell. He wore it while playing with his friends Harisko, and Ulmi. He would also hang out with the guards at his parents' warehouses learning how to fight from an old one legged ranger that worked there. While Drethic wasn't much in a sword fight he taught Girianar how to use a bow like a master. Unfortunately for him when he was 16 the third iteration of the Revolutionary Council took power, led by Citizen Goss a wave of xenophobia filled the country. New and heavy tariffs were written by the government and the mob the true power in Galt began burning down stores and warehouses of foreign goods while hanging their owners in the streets. Odrian's parents seeing the danger heading their way freely opened their warehouses to the mob and let them destroy their goods. The family took what they had and rushed over the border to Andoran as soon as they could. There fortunes depleted they need both new materials and a new place to sell their goods. When a dwarf in golden armor approached their son Girianar it seemed like an answer to the families prayers.

Backstory:
The youngest of four, and son to a man named Tehuti, Thutmose grew up following in his father's footsteps, worshiping the gods and learning all the different rites to show his reverence for them. Growing up, he noticed many differences between himself and other Osirians, which made him the obvious black sheep everywhere he went. With blue skin and even bluer eyes, the only thing that Thutmose had in common with the people around him was his black hair. Even time seemed different to him; it all was much slower, and it gave him a sense of patience that further cut him away from the rest. While everyone was busy rushing through life in both actions and age, Thutmose progressed with a leisurely calm pace, as he occasionally tried to participate.

After attending the funeral of his sister Layla, Thutmose set out on a pilgrimage to Tephu, where he decided he would take up residence in the temple of Thobis and act as a priest for those who would come for worship. Unfortunately, the city life proved to be too busily, with all its citizens performing every action with a sense of urgency that left Thutmose trailing behind in the dust. Thutmose didn't want to leave so easily, but he also didn't want to remain somewhere that barely gave him time to even think, so he relocated just outside the city. He set up a hut that he could live in while still accepting those who wanted to receive guidance from the ancient gods.

Finding a great deal of comfort in his new home, Thutmose continued his work, and stepped outside regularly so he could interact with society and connected to the world ... but he couldn't shake the thought that he was going insane when he began hearing whispers while alone, on the edge of his perception. At first he ignored them, but when the became a more frequent occurrence he decided to quiet everything around him, in an attempt to make clear what he was hearing. Eventually he was able to understand six words ...

"Make, Create.. Fabricate. Dummy, Mummy ... Effigy"

He didn't know the purpose, but he followed the directions to the best of his abilities. Gathering random items from around his hut, he fashioned a doll that resembled a mummy out of strips of papyrus paper for the wrappings, bones from his previous meal, dirt from the ground beneath him for substance and form, and water to cement it all together. The whispers werent becoming any clearer, so he continued to kneaded and work the form of the poppet, to better resemble a human. Eventually the whispers stopped and there was complete silence, except for Thutmose's breathing. He set the doll aside and laid in his cot to reflect on what it was that he had be doing. The next morning he awoke to whispers yet again directing him towards the poppet, and as he made his approach, the whispers turned into a soft but resounding, voice directing him to pack and leave for the city Sothis.

Upon Thutmose's arrival at the city gates, he notices something very unusual, something he's never experienced. Others that looked like him. Four other blue-skinned, black-haired, blue or white-eyed samsarans simply standing to the side of the gate speaking with one another. Of course Thutmose knew he wasnt the only one of his kind, but the level of racial isolation had left him with that feeling none-the-less, and the joy brought to him by witnessing his own kind was nothing short of euphoric. Feeling compelled to do so, he approached this group of almost-familiar faces, and while attempting to maintain composure, he introduced himself.

Shortly after pleasantries and purposes had been exchanged, a dwarf dressed in scale-mail made of golden overlapping coins approached to address Thutmose specifically. Even though he had been entralled by the current conversation, something about the presence of the Dwarf demands attention.

"I be seekin ah few brave good souls ta be ah takin charge of this outpost I've done gone and set up. I found a way to walk the Hall of Doors. Found three doorways that opened up. One leads here to Golorian, One leads to another world known by those that live within it as Eberron. This third doorway though. Dat be da one that this dwarf has dun gone and set up an outpost within ... ."

" ... If you see something that catch your eye, Let me know and Perhaps that post can be yours.." The dwarf finishes as he hands Thutmose a sheet of Velium scribed in the more precise penmanship you have ever seen ...

Just about finished writing up the info for Thobis, just need to figure out the rites and attire

Silver Crusade

Do you have that poppet with you or did you leave it outside of Tephu?

Brought it with me

Sounds good.. you may hear from it again.
