Need help making a Undine Watersinger Bard for S&S

Advice

Lantern Lodge

I'm joining a Skull and Shackles campaign and need help putting a Undine Watersinger Bard together.
Never played a Bard before, and bards rarely turn up at local tables.

Rule creation is per PFS rules, with 2 traits before adding the campaign trait. Start Gold is per CRB's starting gold.

Any and all help is welcome.

Anyone with any experience with the Watersinger Archetype?

What exactly do you want help with? Spell choices? Alternate racial trait choices? How do you envision your Watersinger?

I helped a player in a S&S game that I'm in design a watersinger. You basically have two builds that you're going to need to choose between in the long term. I call them the 'waterbender' build and 'bloodbender' build.

In either case, your charisma is your most important stat. Max it. Also check with your gm that the feats and abilities listed below well actually improve your attacks, because some of this is up to GM interpretation.

Build 1: The Waterbender
This one focuses on doing damage with the Waterstrike ability. This one can be started relatively early compared to the other build. The idea is that every turn you can attack with Waterstrike AND cast a spell.

Feats:
Harmonic Spell: this is needed so you can reduce the cost of using your Waterstrike every turn. It would cost you one round of performance each round instead of two, In the long run, it could give you more extra rounds of performance than the Extra Performance Feat.
Arcane Strike: At the cost of a swift action, you make your attacks hit harder. Damage increases at higher levels.
Other good feats: Weapon Focus (Slam), Improved Natural Attack(Slam), Piranha Strike
Other things to get: Heroism Spell, amulet of mighty fists (if GM allows it to enhance natural attacks from water strike), also, at high levels you can get a spell that'll let you use inspire courage and waterstrike at the same time.

Build 2: The Bloodbender
This one focuses on using the reposition bloodbend ability to cause enemies to provoke attacks of opportunity. It could deal even more damage than the waterstrike build... indirectly. Since the other party members would be getting the attacks. The downside is that the build won't come together until level 9, and you can't cast a spell at the same time as doing this. The plus side is that the reposition ability can be use while keeping inspire courage going.

Feats Needed:
Greater Reposition, and its two prerequisites: Combat Expertise and Improved Reposition.
Spells: True Strike, Heroism

@Tactical Monkey,

For her back story, my Watersinger is part of a guild, which everyone in the party is part of. We are bunch of entertainers.

For in party and combat role, I'm playing the face and support respectively.

I need help coming with ability score spread, like do I dump something to up Cha to 17? And what spells, feats and traits are suitable for a Bard?

Current ability scores: STR: 11 DEX: 14 CON: 14 INT: 12 WIS: 10 CHA: 16

@Matrix Dragon,

If I am starting as a Undine and using the ability score spread as above, is 16 Cha ok?

And is it possible to focus on support as a Watersinger? Or do I have to take one of the 2 above builds?

The ability score list that you put there looks good, though getting more charisma may be a good idea.

In my opinion the 'bloodbender' one is a support build since you can keep inspire courage going when necessary and you are helping your party by moving the enemies around.

As for whether or not there are other builds... well, I guess there are other builds. However, in my opinion there isn't going to be much of a point in being a Watersinger over any other type of bard if you don't get good use out of the Waterstrike and/or blood reposition abilities.

@Matrix Dragon, Thanks, I think I will go with the Bloodbender build.

I will have to clear it with my GM on the use of these feats, but it should be fine.

I don't think any one else in my party is going with a high Cha build, so any bonuses to Cha items should be available to my character. Will be placing all level ups into Cha too.

Thanks again.
