A high-pitched scream comes from somewhere on the 2nd floor. It is unclear if it is of terror, pain or pleasure.

Could it be connected to the comatosis epidemic? Is it the handler of goblin cutpurses discovering his loss? Is it a fan of Jordon? A would-be assassin who accidentally poisoned herself? Has the growing number of dark corners collapsed the geometry of space and shifted the tavern to the nine hells? Has Grickin, unnoticed, snuck upstairs to try to charm a lady? Or is it just a random scream for ambience (or foreshadowing)?

In any case, the barkeep doesn't even raise an eyebrow at the sound.

Goblin Squad Member

Xeen slams open the bar door and storms to a near by table regardless of who is sitting there.

thinks to Mez. Sniff one out for us. Maybe someone in this town knows something. Xeen reaches over and picks some gold from Steelwings bag. I need an ale.

Goblin Squad Member

Kevkas approaches Jordon
You are a Bard, yes? he asks quietly.

Liberty's Edge

*appears out of nowere, running over to xeen, taking the gold and wistling to jordan before vanishing upstairs*
Sorry grol! I need you to help out down here, let sylias help upstairs.

*grol roars, overturning the table, and begins to swing at kevkas.*

Grol......no. Attack people who aren't talking to jordan, but he might be an assassin, seriously. I do not know WHY you cannot understand the fact that you are in a public place,talking to people works better.

*grol continues to swing at random people,kicking over tables and spilling expensive drinks.*
Grol SMUSH FACES!!!

Goblin Squad Member

Ignoring the chaos around him, Jordon continues his pleasant accordion melody and looks toward Kevkas. He looks down to the accordion, then back to Kevkas, and remarks with faux surprise, "I suppose I am, aren't I? Anything I can do for you?"

Goblin Squad Member

*Kevkas flinches away from Grol, hand dipping to a pouch at his belt reflexively, but stops as Grol moves on.*
"Well, it looks like a bit of excitement is manifesting itself. So I may not inquire as to your services of a song as yet, but do you have something of a more..." *Lowering his voice.* "...hmm, Malevolent mood, which you could use to accompany a speech I wish to present upon the proper moment?

Liberty's Edge

Sorry kevkas! he kinda gets a bit exicted, great in a fight, not too good in anything else. *tosses him a couple of gold pieces*

Goblin Squad Member

Jordon smiles at Kevkas; he likes the cut of this guy's jib. "So, you want some dramatic music to accompany a sinister speech? I'll admit the accordion isn't the best instrument for that type of music, but I know a few songs. I accept your request; I do so love people with a discerning eye for dramatic presentation."

A man garbed in exotic Osirani clothing walks in. six feet three, darkskinned, a dark five o' clock shadow of a beard and long dreadlocks in dual ponytails reaching his back and chest. His garb in the colors of Sarenrae, his eyes give off a subtle glint of gold in his green irises. In his arms a small kitten, the little thing nearly half dead from starvation as he brings it in.

Hearing (and seeing) some of the chaos that has recently happened he simply shakes his head and approaches the bar. He pulls out the appropriate coin for a large glass of water, a bowl of milk and if possible a small plate of fish.

"Evening to you proprietors, may the Sun goddess bring peace and light unto your lives, a glass of water, plate of fish and bowl of milk. I shall pay extra for any issue for such a strange request. I simply cannot let this little one here starve"

He smiles down at the little kitten he just recently healed, the thing small frail and still half starved. It gives out a small mew as it is just too weak to run away from the man who holds it and speaks to it in a warm deep toned voice.

"Yes get your rest my new friend, the will of the Sun goddess has deemed us to meet today little furred one. I shall do my diligence to ensure your recovery, and make sure that the sun from this day on erases the shadows that once were your refuge. Perhaps if we are lucky a family with adorable children shall be found by us and for you a new home yes?"

As his request is taken and the food brought back to him he smiles and takes a sip of the water, he then takes a small bit of the fish on a spoon and mashes some of it up while adding some drops of milk. He then starts to feed the small black and white ball of half starved fur in his arm. Giving the kitten a warm smile he looks down at it and speaks:

"Yes I agree, not the most quiet of settings, but it shall do, besides, you have far more to worry about than noise little friend. Eat as much as you are able and return your strength"

As the kitten takes in the mixture of fish and milk Amaziah says a small prayer to heal up the kitten a bit more. He looks around the tavern occasionally to take in the environment of the place and occasionally has more of the water in front of him.

Buurz waddles into The Talking Head leaving her goat-drawn vardo halted outside without hesitation. It had been a long journey from the East where she was hunting a precious scorpion to be used in one of her brews. Pushing her way through the crowd she takes the stool nearest to the bartender.

"Gimme a mead laddy, it's been a long day and me old bones be 'achin! Throw in a bird for me why you're at it!"

<Buurz takes a look around>

Well I'm definitely the best looking matron in this dive.

<cackles>

Amaziah turns to the woman who just took a seat at the bar, he gives a playful laugh and smile as well as a warm introduction.

"Let me pay for your mead, I am sure your travels were arduous, besides you seem as if you can tell quite the story. Amaziah Hadithi, and this is a new friend I hold here in my arms"

*Amaziah puts down the coin for the old woman's mead with a warm smile, he continues to feed the kitten who now sits up just a little to look at the homely woman. Amaziah smiles down at the kitten before looking back to the newest arrival*

"Yes indeed, the Sun goddess always provides me with most interesting encounters. May the sun continue to shine down upon us all little one"

Goblin Squad Member

"Oh, a worshiper of The Dawnflower offers Old Buurz patronage aye? Accepted!"

<Buurz takes a long gulp from her mead, keeping her eye on the feline>

"Pretty little lynx you got there! Don't belong to no witchy-witch do it? Careful she chop off your tootsies for petting her patron!

<examines the feline closely>

No I don't think it does, no magic on that mangy thing!

<cackles>

"So what brings a child of Sarenrae to the parts eh? There isn't evil about is there?!"

<turns her head towards the crowd in paranoia>
<grumbles>

Amaziah charmed by the woman smiles and replies to her question

"Perhaps there is evil perhaps there is not, I merely sate my wanderlust and travel where the sun shines wise mother. And no the little friend here was found in an alley not too far from here. I found him nearly dead and healed his wounds. Perhaps his mother was killed, either way we came across each other and now I am here meeting you. What brings you here wise mother besides the call for mead?"

Goblin Squad Member

"Well, let me tell you, I been witch hunting! But first I went to get this here scorpion from the East!"

<Buurz pulls a deadly scorpion out of her pocket and dangles it before Amaziah>

"On my ways back I heard news of a dark coven, oh yes, dark and twisty it was indeed! Hunting children and the like. I hid out behind them willow trees and just a waited till one of those old crones waddled on out! And then I hexed her, poof! Made 'ol ugly walk right back in that old rickety house and burn it down! Company included!

<cackles>

I got all three of their heads in my vardo! My goat is out there right now, prettiest goat you ever saw!

*Amaziah looks at the scorpion and names the species as soon as he sees it*

"Ah a potent anti venom you shall have if that is what you are creating, and as far as your work I must give honor where it is due"

*Amaziah stands up and bows to the old woman a for her work against the coven, he shows his respect, the kitten still in arm as he also gives blessings to the old woman for her work*

"Thank you, thank you so much for your deed, I wish I could do more for your service but I shall at least do this"

*Amaziah proceeds to order three bottles of mead for the woman*

"So you can sate your love of mead on your travels wise mother, this is the least I can do to show gratitude for your deed"

Goblin Squad Member

Jordon is still playing music in the background; for now he has moved onto what sounds like a calmed-down sea shanty. He glances warily to the old hag who hasn't stopped cackling since she walked into the place; since journeying here Jordon has gotten an appreciation for how diverse the people of the River Kingdoms can be. Not quite as diverse as Absalom, of course, but still up there in the number of wierdos. He keeps up the base notes with one hand as he momentarily picks up his fruity drink and sips from it, then sets it back down to continue playing.

Goblin Squad Member

"Three bottles of mead will last me an eve, but take them I will! And what can this old crone offer a humble servant of The Everlight? Do you carry the weapon of your Lady, eh eh? Enchant it I will with the grace of a lynx or the strength of a bear! Powerful magics I have, free of charge for you. But only this one, the others will cost ya, Old Buurz has got to eat and my bones be weary!

<hiccup>

<lights her pipe, takes a puff>

"This here fine weed is from the lands of Irrisen, magical stuff they say. Though those old bags wouldn't know a spell if it hit 'em in their ugly noggin. So warped with incest and pride thems is, but that's another story. Fancy a smoke?"

*Amaziah smiles and gives another soft nod, he places a hand up briefly to turn down the offer of smoking*

"I thank you for your kindness wise mother but I wish not to hurt the little one's recovery here with imbibements of leaf. And yes I do carry the weapons of the Sun Goddess"

*He pulls out dual sun blade scimitars, the blades are covered in Osirani runes and have a strange sheen to them*

"Prized possessions passed down from my great grandfather in Osirion, family heirlooms they are and my family's treasured friends and companions given in service for our service to the Dawnflower"

"They are Sunrise *he raises one up into the air and places it back down* and Sunset" *he does the same with the other, seeming to honor both as another slight glint of gold shows in his otherwise forest green eyes*

"I thank you for your offer to imbue the blades, but would be better served by any recovery potions or potions to aid crops in their growth if you have them wise mother. The blades would be happier for such a thing as well" He says in his calm deep voice as he feeds the kitten another bit of food, this time also wetting his hand with his water to wash away any bits of food in its fur.

"One must eat nourishment not wear it little one" He says giving the kitten a playful wink. He then nods to the musician ordering the bard another of the drink he is having.

"Thank you musician, your services are definitely appreciated at this moment. May the sun shine down upon you"

Outside of the tavern a figure stands in shadow. It peers into the tavern through a window. The light from the window illuminates this person and reveals they are dressed in black hooded robes with silver arcane designs. Under the hood a pair of eyes, stare with contempt. They give off a contemptuous feeling as they peer at those inside. Then suddenly a second pair a smaller eyes appear in the bottom of the hood. They move closer to the glass, and reveal the face of a ferret. It licks the glass pane of the window, unceremoniously.

Malik grumbles, "Scrambles, get back into the cloak. You are ruining my evil staring time."

Scrambles chitters out a annoyed sound and returns to the warmth of the cloak.

Malik sighs, "familiars..."

Amaziah turns to look out one of the windows as if he felt he was being watched, he smiles as he sees the figure and what looked to be a small animal. He gives a small wave and smile and gives an invite with his free hand after his wave of his hand.

"Such interesting meetings indeed, I am in your gratitude Goddess"

Goblin Squad Member

Buurz thinks about Amaziah's request and decides a growth potion would do the trick. As the old woman rummages through her many pockets, her demeanor completely changes and she quickly turns to Amaziah in sudden alarm.

"Evil lurks about lad, dark and terrible methinks!"

<moves her head to examine the crowd>
<mumbles>

"Hmmm, if might be that 'lil, odd elf over there. Musical folk are often tainted me say! 'Ye feel it lad?

<hiccup>

"Perhaps, but if that is so I am confident in our abilities to deal with it wise mother, though I do not think it is the musician"

*He gives a playful smile as he continues to feed the cat

Goblin Squad Member

"Well of course, no evil witchy-woo can frighten 'ol Buurz!"

<Buurz looks around hastily>

"'Ye don't suppose they are after me scorpion do 'ye? Or me mead? Erewhile me heart been so calm. Now me seem to be getting the flutters, just the green 'ye know, not me nerves. Nerves of steel me has! How are thee with that shiny blade?"

"Good enough for you not to worry wise mother" said Amaziah as he watched the kitten pathetically lose trying to fight sleep off.

"Enjoy your mead and leaf and leave your protection to me wise mother. You have nothing to fear"

Goblin Squad Member

"Confident 'ye is, me like, me like! Tell me laddie of The Everlight, what brings you to these parts? Adventure, eh? Treasure, mmmmmm?"

<puffs her enormous pipe>

"Me, I am here on my family quest. One that we all have been practicing since the days we were Paladins of Osiris. One to see the world and spread good on our travels. Experience is always the best teacher my ancestors believed, so I continue my familial tradition"

"As far as for Adventure or Treasure I come across what I come across, though I have no need of that sort of treasure. The treasure for me is finding those I can help like this little one here in my arms, and meeting many interesting people in my travels like you wise mother"

"Such things for me are far more valuable than gems and gold. Gems and gold can be stolen, sold or lost. Good memories will be with you forever and last far longer than the sheen of any ancient coin found in some dark place"

*He warmly smiles as he looks down at the kitten who is sprawled over his hand and forearm*

"All the treasure I need is moments such as these wise mother, I have found it here with this little one and with you, along with the others I have met on my pilgrimage"

OOC:

Sorry Amaziah, I recently got promoted and life has been kind of crazy. I will hopefully have time to continue our conversation soon as Buurz and her new found friend have much to talk about!

Hope all is well,

Saiph

((Not a problem at all, congrats!))

At one point the large Paladin made his way outside to the front of the tavern, he places the sleeping kitten inside his clothing to rest in one of its pockets so he can sleep.

Amaziah then starts his daily song prayers to the various gods his worships starting off with Saranae and ending off his song's epoch to a verse dedicated to Jalaijatali

A well dressed cloaked male elf enters the tavern from the rainy darkness outside. As he removes his oiled leather cloak, shaking the droplets of rain from it, he surveys the crowd with a discerning eye. He is tall, even for an elf, with a tanned complexion, deep violet eyes, and long silvery-white hair in a single braid down his back

If he notices any other elves in the tavern, he nods a greeting. Otherwise, he takes a seat at an empty table and waits for a bar maid to come over.

With a rustle of movement, Zael gets up and walks to the door where he sits outside under a tree writing letter after letter which he ties to his pebbles before throwing them into the air and allowing the little sparrows to fly off to whatever destination is needed. While he writes his single eyeslit is intently watching the many newcomers walking into the tavern

Xorgrond sees a sparrow flying, carrying some sort of letter. He takes aim with his trusty bow as it flies over head. *Shoots* ... And a miss.

He grumbles. Walks away. After walking about 10 feet to the East, an arrow comes down from the sky, and lands directly into the top of his head. Ouch! *grumbles*... *falls to the ground*.

Thus ends the heroic tales of Xorgrond...

Amaziah as he walks back in sees the Elf and immediately takes him to the nearest shrine to get him resurrected. His face looks quite sad as he carries off the Elf before heading into the nearest shrine that he runs across.

"What a dear 'ye is, Lady Sarenrae favors thee, yes yes! Now Old Buurz here be liking shiny things, yup 'she do. Emeralds especially, beautiful they be, and mysterious! Quite like myself, 'methinks."

The accordion-playing bard finishes up his stormy song with a flourish, then begins playing much softer, letting the conversations of the bar overtake his music. He moves over to the table the new arrival sat at, thinking to himself, Now this man seems to have a level head. Perhaps he can help us with this mystery...

Jordon, trying to look casual despite the unwieldy accordion slung around his neck, says to the man while leaning against one of the seats (but not taking a seat yet), "Pshaw, the rain still that bad out there? Seems ol' Gozreh's havin' herself a fit tonight." He absently picks at his teeth with one gloved hand, trying to remove a dark green piece of an earlier meal.

"I'd love to hear some of your tales wise mother, I am sure I would learn much from your stories. Another drink?"

*The elf raises his left eyebrow to a defined arch, momentarily studying the disheveled black hair and the gawdy outfit worn by the pale skin man.*

Yes, it is still raining. Does this establishment have wine? If so, I would like a bottle of port, a small wedge of cheese and a loaf of bread.

"NOOOO!!!"

The figure falls back into a chair as a flash of deep red light flares from his forehead.

"He has found me. The Twiceborn, Nagar Lo'Razh The Unliving God makes his way to the River Kingdoms."

Sorry for the necro but finally got back to a computer where I can actually type.
