250k at level 1. What do you buy?

As the title says, we are doing a goofy/fun campaign where we are all rich, spoiled royal princes etc..

We get 250k to spend on items and then we're being dumped into undermountain. I'm looking for build ideas that maximize this potential error in the DMs judgement :-)

Normally I would spend a ton of time working on this but I'm strapped for spare time at the moment and the campaign is coming up this weekend.

Classes are anything found on d20pfsrd(.)com except psionics.
Items are ditto except mythic and 3rd party etc..
- No custom build for items. I.e. no hat of ogre strength or keyed only to my character / alignment etc..
Race is required to be human. Can be male or female.

Why not buy some adventurers? 250k (or even 200k if you can find 50k worth of items) ought to be enough to get a few high-level helpers...

Buy some war-trained animals for sure. Even the expensive ones are only a few thousand each, and they will add a ton of combat power at low levels. Add barding, horseshoes etc... Don't forget a valet to feed them, mind!

Retirement.

Grand Lodge

Barbarian running a +4 keen furious courageous no dachi leaps to mind. perhaps an archer with access to flight to kill everything from a distance? Also, a speed weapon would be godly. That or boots of haste.

An untouchable fighter running celestial plate and +5 shield and then some comes to mind. +5 ring of protection, etc. Give it bashing and be some dude who only uses a shield.

Sadly full casters don't scale as well with fancy shmancy magiks.

I'd be very tempted to crank my caster level checks and see about getting a scroll or two of, say, Gate. Or Planar Ally. "Oh hi there Michael. Yeah, sorry to pull you from your tea party with the other angels, but we have a bit of an issue here. Mind and take care of the shadow dragon around the corner? Yes, we'll donate to an orphanage."

For casters, consider 50K worth of Pearls of Power. 10 1st level = 10K. That's 10 extra casts per day. For sorcerers, pages of spell knowledge, especially at lower levels, are cheap and REALLY expand your spell casting ability. Honestly a sorcerer works better than a wizard for this. Just having the spell pages on you let's you cast any spell you have on you any time you want, and the pearls act like recharges on your spells.

+5 weapon +5 armor +5 ring of protection +5 cloak of resistance wands of cure light wounds potions of stuff unless you are a caster than get scrolls get a few scrolls of breath of life wand of lesser restoration cure disease cure blindness remove curse and a lot of other things

Something to give you hit points. It's all very well having a +5 shockingkeenholyeverythingbane greatsword, but if the other guy crits you first, you're still dead at 1st level. Likewise saves. And try not to be surprised, so some perception and scrying gear.

Also get some armor with fortification and death ward

What the hell is tossing death effects a you at level one?

My GM in highschool.

Belt of Physical Perfection (I think that's the all 3 stats) +6. Think there's also a headband that does the same for all 3 mental stats.

Mirror of Life Trapping on a tower shield.

First a big castle , then a harem and finally you call the guards and tell them to call adventures because there is something you want and others should risk their lives for it.

Hehe , no but honestly:

1)Cape of resistance +5 , maybe with a mule back effect included for the 50%+ cost.

2)Handy haversack ofc.

You did not say what class you want to play , tons of good items , but usually they are directed to a kind of char.

I'd buy an Iron Golem (150K), Cube of Force (62K), and a Scarab of Protection (38K).

Scarab Sages

All good stuff! Keep them coming. Any synergies we are overlooking? I was hoping more of "the items would provoke this build" or vice versa like mdt or kiinyan said. I.e. class types/ skills that would work well with amazing gear.

I'd never want to play a human, but if I had to, I'd have a sorcerer, buy metamagic rods of quicken and maximize, and then a +6 headband of alluring charisma and belt of mighty constitution. Don't need to know more spells, only need to use more. Also need to live.

Alchemist (Grenadier)+ Cannon/Bombard + Wagon = Tank (Or use tank from reign of winter)

A new GM.

Its a one shot over the weekend with friends I rarely get to see. Just looking to make it interesting.

It should be fairly easy to boost your damage, saves, and AC with that kind of wealth, but hit points are a little trickier. Since you only have one hit die, constitution increases won't be that helpful. An item that lets you cast False Life would be nice.

A steam giant!

Pair up with your buddies and drive that monstrosity through the undermountain. See if you can add a drill so you can just drill through the dungeon to the treasure room.

Doing dungeons properly is for peasants.

Liberty's Edge

Put this guy together quickly, thinking it might be good. Left about 2700 gold for you to get some gear, figured you could figure that out.

Carefully Hidden You gain a +1 trait bonus to Will saves and a +2 trait bonus to saving throws versus divination effects.
Point Blank Shot +1 to attack and damage rolls with ranged weapons at up to 30 feet.
Precise Shot You don't get -4 to hit when shooting or throwing into melee.
Rapid Shot You get an extra attack with ranged weapons. Each attack is at -2.
Seeking Ignores miss chances, but must be aimed at the correct square.

By the way, if you activate Point Blank and Rapid, you change it to +10/+10. So basically, you see the "bad" guy. You stop, and then unleash hell. Yes I realize the 2handed fighter/barbarian will have higher one hit damage, but really. Unless your GM is going to make you fight 50HP mobs, you just put 2 1d8+8 arrows into said mob. Oh then the Flaming damage. And the Holy damage 3/day.

Ring of invisibility. Stalking weapon. Getaway boots.

Wondrous Item of Wish (CL 17) 4 times per day.
SL 9 * CL 17 * 2000 gp * (4/5) = 244800 gp

No custom items, otherwise I'd recommend a Mantle of Spell Resistance (32) 200k GP.

OK then: basically anything that gives you a powerful servant or powerful spells at will.

Suggestions:
1) 2 Rings of Djinni Calling: 2x 1 hour of faithful service of a CR5 Djinn
2) Staff of Power: just refill it with Magic Missiles and Continual Flames
[edit] just reread the recharging rules on staves, one charge recharged of one staff per day? wow.. that sucks. Still 1 Cone of Cold and Hold Monster at level 1 is nice
3) Just buy as much Wands of Summon Monster IV as you can afford without skimping on some defensive items.

Alternative: if you're a caster, stock up on metamagic rods, CL enhancing items, pearls of power, wands etc... Quickened, Empowered, Maximized CL5 Burning Hands and Shocking Grasps or Wands of Fireball at level 1 are nice.

Intelligent Weapons

Oooooh...

Just stumbled across this:

Book, Tome of Leadership and Influence:

This ponderous book details suggestions for persuading and inspiring others, but entwined within the words is a powerful magical effect. If anyone reads this book, which takes a total of 48 hours over a minimum of 6 days, he gains an inherent bonus from +1 to +5 (depending on the type of tome) to his Charisma score. Once the book is read, the magic disappears from the pages and it becomes a normal book.

There's one for every stat. Might be fun to pick it up, just for the extra stat. One of those +Racial bonus +Headband and/or Belt and you can stat with 24+ on a stat. *Snickers* Probably pull a pretty mean DEX build.

A mithral golem that forms a closable cavity in its torso so you can hide inside as it wades through your enemies without effort.

That's exactly 250k gp

A Ring of Invisibility and and Iron Golem.

At least one ring of wishes?

Scarab Sages

100 Clockwork Soldiers and some very nice armor.

A herd of combat trained T rexes.

Armor and magical items for said t rexes.

Buy an army of Battle Cattle.

50gp for a combat trained bison. with ALL your money. Stampede across the land over anything and everything.

100 kobold sorcerer hirelings, 100 wands of magic missile.

Hmm yes, 15 spinosauruses would probably be superior to one mithral golem. As long as you have the handle animal.

Undermountain is a crazy place. Rings of invis for everybody might help you avoid encounters you can't beat. Eyes of the eagle to hopefully spot traps ambushes and secrets. A luckblade for everybody, too, empty if you don't have cash for wishes. Two immovable rods for climbing anywhere or barricading a room to rest in. A wand of summon monster or a bag of tricks might help trigger traps or give distractions. Belts of at least con and cloaks of resist 5, obviously. Determination on armor or shield might help. Strong weapon or good wands. Pretty much anybody can use a mithril buckler of stuff.

The golem ideas are all pretty snazzy too.

OK, here's a stupidly tough tank at 1st level because he'd decked out like a Christmas tree:

Defender of the Society +1 trait bonus to Armor Class when wearing medium or heavy armor.
Glamered Weapon is cloaked in illusion and doesn't radiate magic. Suppressed 1 min after attack.
Glamered Assumes appearance of normal clothes on command.
Heartseeker Ignore concealment miss % vs living foes with a heart (not aberration/ooze/plant/elemental).
Impervious Double enhancement bonus to hardness, Hp, break DC. Immune to rust/rot.
Impervious 2x enhance bonus to hardness, Hp, break DC. Item gains +5 to saves.
Impervious 2x enhance bonus to hardness, Hp, break DC. Item gains +5 to saves.
Jingasa of the fortunate soldier (1/day) Activate to negate a critical hit or sneak attack as an immediate action.
Power Attack -1/+2 You can subtract from your attack roll to add to your damage.

Now I could have made it a bit more silly at low level (keen would have been nice), but the build has future growth assumed (since improved critical is better).

I would play an alchemist.

Get a hybridization funnel, mix Tangleburn bags and flasks of acid to make new thrown weapons.

Multiple Bags of holding to hold it all.

+6 dex, int and Con.

Meanwhile doing all this in my ALCHEMICAL DRAGON. Yeah you heard me, alchemical dragon, with its 6 cannons firing their tangle burn/flask of acid bombs.

My crew will be 50 Strix alchemists.

We go deal with things.

Among other things, a succubus. No, I'm serious here, she's much more useful at level 1 than combat gear. Combat is risky, and a succubus is great at social skills. Especially if I buy her a circlet of persuasion and myself a seducer's bane bracelet.

This has potential.

Especially if the character is a tetori monk.

Is there anything you can buy that can turn you into another race?

Because KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS KOBOLDS

Get some level 4 wands. Dragon Breath, Summon Monster IV, Confusion, etc. Be able to handle every monster type weakness from the get go.

I would spene some of the money on a body guard and some of it on a +20 profession investor item.

A witch with slumber hex and the corset of dire witchcraft. Along with items to boost int you can have a crazy DC on the 3 round sleep at level 1. Then get some wands of summon monster IV and cure (whatever)wounds some 10 pearls of power, a bunch of defensive items and a ring of invisibility. If you have gold to spare get more wands, and potions.

Cloak of Displacement as you really want to minimise the chances of anything hitting you.

Rod of Wonder

Apparatus of the Crab (if it wasn't Undermountain).

Ring of Djinni Calling (or a lamp...) or Ring of Elemental Command

Holy Avenger

Mirror of Opposition and a Portable Hole

Any item you ever thought was cool but never had before

+ 1 Scarab of Protection... it is Undermountain after all.
