Winter Witch's Familiar and Mulitclassing

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

PFS Character build. Five levels of Tattooed Sorcerer. Tattooed familiar: Centipede. I take my Sixth level into Winter Witch. Which has the stipulation of:

"Familiar: Winter witches must choose a familiar that
is native to the frozen north, even when they themselves
operate in other regions. Traditionally, this limits winter
witch familiar choices to bat, cat, fox, hawk, owl, rat,
raven, or weasel. A winter witch who gains the Improved
Familiar feat can select any familiar she desires, save for
familiars with the fire subtype."

Do I:
1. Ignore this modification because I already have a familiar.

2. Buy a new Familiar because I took this Archetype.
2b. If so do i pay the 500gp per level, because I'm a witch now, or just the 200gp because i lost my Sorcerer Familiar. OR its free.

3. ???

4. Profit. i.e. gain two familiars due to the unique nature of both the Witches Familiar "spellbook" and tattooed Familiar.(I'd like to remark im only asking this out of sillyness and know its HIGHLY unlikely)

Your centipede either

1. mysteriously disappears one night, to be replaced by a new critter of the allowed type.

2. mysteriously morphs into a new critter of the allowed type.

3. your new familiar suddenly appears and eats your old one.

Surprisingly enough this change costs you nothing either way.

Silver Crusade

But Caligula(the Centipede) has done so many things. Warned the party that there are ghouls below deck, defeated the rouge dark stalker that hid in the darkness, informed the Blakros family that one of their daughters has fallen into a well(Again).

though it seems i have to lay him to rest.

R.I.P. Caligula(the most awesome best friend a girl could have Centipede)

1) Homebrew, I would let you. PFS? I don't think this is an option.

2) This works. Replace the familiar before gaining the level and you are good to go.

3) Gain another level of Sorcerer. At character level 7, use your feat to gain an Improved Familiar. Could be a Celestial Centipede. Your familiar could morph into a celestial for no cost, as it is done by the feat. Or not wait and use retraining rules to swap out a feat for Improved Familiar.

4) You can only have one familiar, so this does not work.

If it isn't pfs you can probly uave caligula pupate into a wooly centipede. For the record in rl according to wikpedia centpedes can be found beyond the wrctic circle. You shoukd be fine with caligula.

Question...

If a character has both Wizard levels and Witch levels how do the familiar's stack which one does the character get? Not two I'd expect...

Witch’s Familiar (Ex) points to:

Witch's Familiar

This uses the same rules as the wizard’s arcane bond class feature, except as noted below. A witch uses her level as her effective wizard level when determining the abilities of her familiar.

Basically, count all Witch levels and all Wizard levels together (stacking), and read features from the Familiar Ability Descriptions table and apply to her single familiar. Note, the wizard must have the familiar option of the arcane bond.

This works also for the Rogue Advanced Talent(Familiar), and the Sorcerer Arcane Bloodline Arcane Bond(Familiar) feature as well.

Thx Cevah. Second Question... A character starts out as a wizard and levels takes Witch and the Archetype "Winter Witch". Does that now mean all her wizard fire spells are not available to her? What about items like.. a necklace of fireballs or a wand of fireballs? Fireball is STILL on her wizard list.

Per the text for Ice Magic, she cannot learn nor cast fire spells. There's nothing in the description that limits the effect to winter witch spells. Similarly, any cold spells she casts from her wizard spell slots add +1 to their save DC.

The necklace of fireballs should be unaffected, but you'll have to UMD the wand of fireballs as you must be of a class that can cast the spell to normally use a spell trigger item. Since winter witch removes your ability to cast such spells from all classes, no dice.

(Edited for correctness.)

Not that I doubt your understanding - blahpers.. you are likely correct {even if annoying not what I wanted to hear :)}... but is there any 'official' discussion thread or ruling on this?

Here's the real question: can you find centipedes in winter lands? The ability only lists the most common wintry familiars: if centipedes can be found in tundras, maybe it'd be fair game.

Then again, you could always do what the Ice King did and create an Ice-o-pede.

Yes, you can find centipedes in winter lands.
