Building a Gunslinger Ninja for PFS Play

Advice

I'm admittedly weak when it comes to Gunslingers and maximizing their potential and am looking to you fine people to lend a hand.

I've been tossing the idea of a sneaky type of character that pops out of stealth/invis and shoots someone in the face (and then promptly runs for cover). Beyond that, I like having some social skills and knowledge skills, but not looking for too much of it with this character.

Basic Idea:

Race: Vishkanya
Classes: Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) and Ninja
Feats: Sleep Poison from the ARG.
Tricks: Vanishing Trick (would be great to have Invisible Blade, but probably not sticking around for 10 levels of Ninja)
Weapon: Double-barrel something. Using two pitted bullets for an opening volley, hopefully staggering and potentially putting the victim to sleep.
Stats: +2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Wis, +2 Anything.
Proposed Stats: 8, 16, 14, 12, 8, 18 and then +2 somewhere. (Poison DC 12+ 1/2 HD)

So what feats am I looking for? Preferred level breakdown?

I'm not an expert but I would think you want to go at least 2 levels of ninja to get access to the ki pool.

Yeah I was thinking high ki and grit for cool things. Dex doesn't need to be great since I'm targeting touch AC. I could really dump STR and wisdom I guess, but I don't see a strong need for any stat to be particularly high with this type of character. It's not like I'm building a 22 CHA Kitsune Fey Sorcerer. ;-)

Um... Make sure you take Deadly Aim? Also, make sure that you vanish after your attack, not before, so you're invisible on your opponents' turns.

I'm not sure Vanishing Trick would be a great fit with this build, since it takes a swift action to add Cha to damage. Maybe something like this:

MS1: Guntraining, Sleep Venom
N1: +1d6 Sneak
N2: Combat Trick (Point Blank Shot), Precise Shot
N3: +2d6 Sneak
N4: Vanishing Trick, Deadly Aim
N5: +3d6 Sneak
N6: Rapid Reload, Rogue Talent (Underhanded)

etc.

You could keep a dagger pistol hidden in a spring-loaded wrist sheath for those surprise round sneak attacks, with Underhanded.

Since you're using pitted bullets, you can either grab Rapid Reload for two move actions to reload, or you can go with a pepperbox as your eventual go-to weapon.

Since you seem to be interested in single shot tactics, you could progress towards Shot On The Run, which would allow you to attack from unpredictable angles and avoid cover.

Definitely take advantage of the ninja's ability to craft poison, as your racial poison won't always be available or the best choice. If you can grab a second ninja's trick, Forgotten Trick is the most expensive but also the most versatile. A ring of ki mastery also does a lot to reduce the expense. I don't think more than a few levels of gunslinger are necessary; either one for guns, two for +1 to will saves (yours will always be low), four for a bonus feat, or five to ignore misfire. Ninja tricks scale better than deeds, imo.

Umm I was under the impression that in a Pathfinder Society game you could not craft.

So not only can you not build your own ammo, making playing a gunslinger almost impossible due to the cost of ammo, but you also can not craft the poison anyway.

Ninjas can, unless I am mistaken.

Oops, I was. That exception applies only the poisoner rogue and the alchemist.

Kobolds have a Gunslinger racial archetype that also progresses sneak attack. I don't know if it is allowed for PFS games, even with the racial heritage (kobold) feat.

Doubly not allowed, because nothing in the Kobold section is legal for play and Racial Heritage restrictions.

Gunslingers can, however, buy ammo at the cost of 10% of list price for bullets and black powder and 50% for alchemical cartridges as long as they have at least one rank in craft alchemy.

Lantern Lodge

I'm pretty sure anyone with Use Poison as a class feature can craft. If not they would've given the ninja a replacement ability.

Sovereign Court

ninjas can use poisons. it states ninjas, alchemist, rogues can use/buy poisons, not craft them. no other class can buy them. their is also a limited list of poisons you can buy
