Mummy's Mask suitable build-up to Wardens of the Reborn Forge?

Mummy's Mask

I'm curious whether characters who run through the Mummy's Mask AP would, at it's conclusion, be suitable for the upcoming module, which starts with challenges for level 12 characers. Given that it's on the same continent, and only a few nations away from the Mana Wastes, it's certainly in the right neighborhood. But I don't want to take high-fantasy characters into the steampunk/gunsmoke milieu of Wardens of the Reborn Forge. I guess what I'm asking is, will Mummy's Mask be along the lines of the Brendan Frasier movies, with somewhat ordinary people up against extraordinary creatures, or is this module meant for characters with significant magical resources?

I'm just returning to GM-ing, and am new to Pathfinder and it's take on the 3.5 rules. So any advice would be much appreciated.

Silver Crusade

Since your new to adventure paths. Ill chime in, Ive run a Kingmaker path and currently running a Wrath path and have played in both jade regent and Serpetnt Skull. In kingmaker the PCs ended up at 24th. In most paths though they it works like this.

6 books each made up of 4 parts. Generally each part of a book is worth a level, though at the end some levels takes more then 1 part of a book to gain.

So in other words You would be able to tie in the Wardens of the Reborn Forge module into the Adventure path, somewhere towards the end of book III or start of book IV of this Path your PC's would be the appropriate level for the module.

It would take rewriting on your part, as the module is not going to be written for the path. If your a DM, your creative, its just a matter of if you want to or have the time to spend to do the work.

You play a very high-level game, Klokk. I believe the usual progression is:

Book 1 - Levels 1-3
Book 2 - 4-6
Book 3 - 7-8
Book 4 - 9-10
Book 5 - 11-12
Book 6 - 13-16

There's some variation within that progression, of course, but the APs (with the exception of Wrath of the Righteous, which explicitly goes to level 20, mythic tier 10) usually cap off at about level 16 without some serious DM rewrites. Wardens of the Reborn Forge would cleanly replace book 6, as far as levels are concerned. However, it's very unlikely that the Wardens module will actually fit in well enough with the AP's plot to do so.

Rimethorn, there's been relatively little information about the Mummy's Mask AP revealed, but I doubt that it will play out very much like 'The Mummy', in the sense that the setting elements are very unlikely to resemble British-occupied Egypt in the early 20th century. It's likely to be very pulp, but not very industrial. Like every other AP, however, it will probably be very high-magic, rather than low-fantasy pulp. Wizards will not be out-of-place.

Now, that said, there's definitely a place for the gunslinger within the Mummy's Mask AP; Alkenstar hires out gunslingers as mercenaries, and they're probably not terribly uncommon throughout Garund. Aside from that, the setting itself is set up to be a thematic kitchen sink; it's totally okay for your typical adventuring party to wander into Steampunk Kingdom. If you're uncomfortable with that kind of transition, you can also play up the wild magic/magic-dead element of the Mana Wastes, which adds another wrinkle to playing typical adventurers and might add that touch of low-fantasy you seem to be craving.
