Messenger Bag and Rerolls

Silver Crusade 3/5

Do the Pathfinder Messenger Bags allow for a reroll? I'm going to get a few just wondering if they qualify. For the game day rerolls.

5/5 5/55/55/5

Please say yes. I won't use a character portfolio (so paying 10 bucks for a reroll just feels dirty) and the shirts were designed by midgets.

1/5

For some reason they aren't in the list. So no.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Perchance the list has yet to be updated, considering it's the weekend and these just went up.

5/5

They were available at GenCon too though. The Dogslicer Ale shirt came out at GenCon too and IS on the list. I wouldn't hold my breath, although it would be cool if they made it.

Silver Crusade 3/5

How knows we might get lucky and they forgot to add them to the list. One can hope any how.

A usable reroll product would be very nice. I am probably one of the only regulars in my area that doesn't have one. Like BNW, I just can't bring myself to buy a portfolio that I really don't want as a portfolio, and in addition to all the shirts being so small and out of stock, I would need to buy a lot of them since I don't want to be one of those guys that wears the same shirt all the time.

I support this idea.

Actually, I really like the idea of this being added to the list. People forget to wear their shirt to game nights sometimes. Folios get left at home...this, if you use it to lug game stuff around would pretty much ALWAYS be with you. Seriously, this makes the most sense for a re-roll item to me...so yes I highly advocate the motion to add this to the re-roll list :) .

Silver Crusade 5/5

I agree. The messenger bags are awesome (I love mine!) and I think it's a great idea.

4/5

Absolutley agree with this idea. Means I can stop using my local con messenger bag when travelling interstate to cons and promote the glory that is PFS on the plane.

Shadow Lodge 3/5

While we're talking rerolls, same question with the We Be Goblins t-shirt to be added to that list (or not?).

The messenger bags are super-cool; I have used mine since Gen-Con, and I'm buying several as presents for players who have stepped up and started GMing. You Should Buy One, Today.

I would respect Mike's decision, if he decides to approve these for GM-rerolls. However: they are available only in limited supplies. I don't think Paizo is going to have any difficulty selling off their stock. So making them magic re-roll bags doesn't serve the purpose of moving product.

And then what happens? There is already a hue-and-cry about not being able to wear one of the original five faction shirt, and resentment that the goblin-holding-a-gem shirt is out-of-print. If magic re-roll messenger bags get swept up, there'll be all manner of griping from people slow to grab one.

Seems unnecessary. No one needs a reroll. The bag is cool enough on its own.

How about the use of a Bag Of Holding, for the session you bring it.

Now THAT would be awesome. Although I am thinking it would be closer in size to a Handy Haversack.

*packs Messenger Bag in backpack and leaves it there so he never forgets to bring it to a session*

In addition to the bag, I'd like to know if some of the newer shirts (Beginner Box, Goblins) are legal for rerolls as well.

Unless you consider, Pathfinder as the product (CRB, Bestiary, Beginner Box) or PFS, or even Wayne Reynold's Art. There is a reason so many local business put their logo on their vehicle.

Curaigh, my point is: they'll sell out whether it's a magic re-roll bag or not. Paizo isn't going to sell any more of them one way or the other.

They'll serve as just an effective marketing tool for Wayne Reynolds even if they aren't magic re-roll bags.

As a magic reroll bag they'll come to more game sessions and be seen more.

Silver Crusade 3/5

There are out of print items that still get rolls. It is not about moving product. The bags have the advantage of making it to every game day. There product that will get more people to see the pathfinder logo, and have people ask about the game. I can see even if they are now out as a limited run item. If there is enough of a demand them being brought back. Even if it is with new art work for the books that cam out that year.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Who says they can't make more? If it sells out quickly (and making it a reroll item might make that happen) they would become more attractive to make more of.

I have never seen a folio used. Infact the majority of them I do see are still in their plastic.

I would be happy ot see bags that are used over a wrapped up item purchased as the most economic means for a free reroll.

You just *know* someone is going to turn up to the table with their shipping box and a mint condition bag still inside it.

Thats fine, no different than the sealed folios. But I expcet to see less of that.

The Folio is the best character sheet ever -- it has plenty of space to write everything down.

Although, to be fair, I print out the sheets from the pdf -- I don't write on the actual pristine sheets of the physical Folio.

The physical folio is still worthwhile even if you never write in it; there are a whole bunch of useful charts a player can use. But you do have to take it out of the shrink-wrap for that ...

I carry a folio with me, even if I'm wearing a re-roll-eligible shirt. In fact when I'm GMing I carry a second one that I can make available to the table as a whole. That one's still shrink-wrapped, though.

Hey Mike/Mark/John:

If you put the bag on the re roll list ... I'll buy one. Just putting that out there.

Paizo Employee 4/5 Developer

Mike's doing a lot of convention travel, but there are plans to discuss multiple inquiries, loopholes, petitions, questions, and the like relevant to PFS when he returns to the office. In general, we wait until we can talk in person before making changes of this type.

Was an offical decision ever made on this?

I'd like some word on this as well. Also to consider all the new shirts that came out as well. There should be a blanket rule for any officially licensed shirt to be legal.

That would be a "shirt rule', not a "blanket rule". Paizo hasn't licensed any blankets yet. And I'm not just kidding.

bolding mine. Thanks Chris...

I'm sure that if Paizo actually does say "Yes, this and that is good for a reroll," we will be seeing an update in the Guide to PFSOP.

The Exchange 4/5

OOH Snuggie re-rolls. Most comfortable re-rolling experience yet.

I agree but a simple yes here could carry the weight of the decision until they take the time and effort required to update the Guide.

Disagree. They updated the Guide for a new season right before Gen Con, then updated that about a week later. In the middle of convention season. Even the Dogslicer Ale shirt wasn't in the pre-Gen Con Guide, but was added to the list after the fact. I should know, I went through and revised it by hand after finding out it had updated, haha.

Point is, even a small change would be incorporated into a new Guide.

For the record, the small changes included changing GM star rating from per year to lifetime, adding the ITS, adding the Dogslicer shirt, removing the wording that shirts were on sale, and the VO list. 5 things. Unless they changed it again and I haven't noticed... Heh heh heh.

Makes me wish I hadn't already killed mine. Poor things just aren't up to the kind of abuse I put them through. And that the pretty picture were on the non-flap side, so I could more easily show the picture off....

Yay! I'll just carry snacks in it for the game days I go to.
