The party should be able to:
1. Kick in the door
i.e. a fighter type with high strength and big boots
2. Kill the monster
while the monster concentrates on the fighter, the mage prepares for the lethal spell to gate the monster to oblivion
3. Loot the room and take the treasure
can we spell rogue
4. Rescue the princess
Someone with high charisma and no obsession (that means no paladins or sorcerers) leaving only a bard to fill the final slot
I wanna take this moment to thank Steve Jackson for the creation of Munchkin that so accurately describes the course of adventure that we should follow
Kill the princess
Kick the room and rescue the treasure
Take the monster
Loot the door
or some other combination

In a published adventure for Rolemaster, ICE put in some seemingly innocuous flavor text about a pair of large mithril doors. As soon as the descriptive words were out of my mouth, I knew I'd made a dreadful mistake. The party immediately abandoned any pretense of caring about the adventure and focused solely on the acquisition and marketing of the immense wealth represented by those precious, precious, precious metal-clad doors. Loot the door, indeed.
As for answering the thread's question.. considering the idea is to go nuts, 80s Arnie-style.. Pluck out any 4 characters from The Expendables and call it a good day to die harder with lethal weapons.

While playing Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil we were fairly disgusted with the general lack of treasure. At one point we came across an iron bridge, which we were trying to figure out if we could remove (a 50000 lb bridge at 1gp per pound was worth the work). We changed our mind when we came across a tower made of adamantine. We defeated the door, and took it.

pick any grouping of the following concepts
a sickly little girl who runs around in her Pajamas and casts powerful spells, has an incurable cough that fails to interrupt her spells. could be anything from a wizard or sorcerer, to a bard or oracle. bonus points if she has purple hair.
a big hulking (and possibly hairy) yet developmentally delayed and socially crude male warrior who fights with large weapons, speaks in words of 2 syllables or less, and sentences of less than 10 words. carries stuff in both hands, may be slow, or weak to magic. bonus points if he has a badly faked Russian Accent
a lithe and effeminate male whom is obscessed with his appearance, carries a slender blade in one hand and moves gracefully. though any shield or weapon of similar size works as a viable off hand. you get bonus points for an empty offhand, and bonus points for having the elf subtype. can also be subverted by making the character a proper female of ladylike stature
an annoying yet infinitely wise pixie who gives all the info, shouts orders, and motivates everyone. floats over the dumb brute's shoulder. always tells the group what to do. a voice of the DM incarnate.
a man in white silken robes with a silver crucifix around his neck, likely has other religious memorabilia, such as a holy sword, a shepard's staff, or a crucifix shaped firearm, most likely a spellcaster whom preaches, often a pacifist, bonus points if his name includes "Father" "Brother" or "Friar" as a prefix. this concept may also be genderswapped to a female counterpart, using "Mother" or "Sister" in place of "Father" or "Brother." female counterparts are more likely to wield staves
a young male in his early adulthood, whom awakened and found out he was the chosen one, he carries the sacred sword of his people, a rare artifact weapon of great power, that grows as he advances, he is a callous and idealistic youth, whom fights to protect his friends, if he uses his second hand for something, it's likely a magic shield with which to protect his friends
a weasly young elven girl clad in darker hued leather garb, carries a bow and sword, excellent archer and decent meleer, has a cute pet she commands in combat, often turns her foes into a pincushion, she may end up using the sword, depending on build. can also wear leafy dresses in place of darker hued leather if desired
a japanese schoolgirl clad in a sailor schoolgirl uniform, has very western features, small framed, carries a katana, focuses on being a badass, might possibly be a tsundere. never cops to being a ninja, but she usually is.
a rich young noble girl who wears fancy clothing, usually a count, earl, or princess, who travels alongside the heroes, and contributes with supportive magic, often uses her connections to help the party, party never benefits from her wealth though.
the last survivor of her ancient race, a youth descended from a long and dying bloodline, wanted by the main villain, heroes work to protect her, and she works to assist them using magical means.
the knight in shining armor, a hero in the midst of early adulthood, the young knight whom was sent by his order to assist the chosen ones. honorable, chivalrous and idealistic, carries a sword and shield, lets his foes make the first move, thinks he can beat his foes honorably and refuses to lie cheat or steal.
a middle aged veteran soldier, clad in the heaviest of armors, whom wields a lance and shield, reknowned for his honor, a master diplomat, and a beast on the battlefield due to his excessive defenses. he is slow due to his old age, but compensates with timing and tactics
an old man in a robe with a pointed hat, carries a staff, solves mathematical equations to cast spells, serves the party as a mentor. eventually dies early on, suprisingly tough for an old man, mostly overpowered due to his superior levels and better gear
a middle aged man in Samurai garb, carries a Katana, master of the quick draw of instant death, happens to possess on Iaijutsu to the point he can drop most foes in a single round if he desired.
a man in peasant robes with a belt of hemp, carries no weapons and wears no shoes, fights unarmed and focuses on negating the need for weaponry, usually inferior to a proper weapon user. quotes proverb and claims to be wise and peaceful. a complete lie since he rushes in unarmed and pummels the snot out of his foes like a savage
a man clad in nothing but a loincloth, skirt, pair of pants or similar garment, with unrealistically well toned abs and massive muscles, carries a massive weapon, emulates totem animals, often tiger, jaguar or lion. goes into frenzies, flips out and kills stuff
a young girl in loose fitting garb, whether a modest fitting dress, a cloak, or a robelike garment such as a kimono, often carries a knifelike weapon, or a crossbow, focused on stealth, may also be a mage, though it isn't needed. though cloaks and kimonos are common, gothloli dresses aren't unheard of. could also be a weasly young man as well, favoring a cloak for sure.
the buxom and oblivious young woman, all breasts and no brains, a healer is a common choice of profession, tries to be cute, has a verbal tic, can also be flat chested as a common subversion, but is still just as oblivious.

Wow. That is one comprehensive collection of clichés.

most cliched
Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, and Wizard.
Be sure to choose the most stereotypical race/class combo. Then give them stereotypical personalities. The fighter is dumb and only thinks with his sword, yet he's a successful military officer (and a commoner, so rising through the ranks required tactical skill that his Int 8 character sheet does not support). The cleric preaches all the time, and is more loyal to their church than their party. The rogue is a kleptomaniac, and is more loyal to the thieves' guild than the party. The wizard is a classic scholar, with no charisma, and no common sense, due to his or her ivory tower upbringing. They talk too much and "know" they are smarter than you, and will remind you of this at every opportunity. They have no Strength, no Constitution, and no skills such as climbing, jumping, or swimming.

No clue about the first, but the last is Inspector Gadget.

A human gestalt paladin/bard, who probably has the Leadership feat, wielding a major-artifact-tier warhammer;
A battleaxe-wielding cyborg barbarian, apparently trained in Perform (Act);
A living hologram fighter;
And a suspiciously long-lived human commoner.
They're all fighting against a very high-level, probably mythic, sorcerer; a wizard cult; and an army of goblins and demons.

Well, DrDeth's cliche party literally predates 1st Edition - no thief in the old White Box, 3 booklet setup - I think thieves showed up with the Greyhawk supplement that came later.
Nice call out to the early days, DrDeth!
