DEATHLOK needs his own series, if he's not joining SHIELD full-time . . . or get promoted to movie status.
Agreed Kahnya, Deathlok needs his own series. Also I think that the inherent problem with that whole "You're already dead Phil." is the fact even before the start of Avengers, there was KIND OF proof of other realities. I mean just saying, Thanos...
I understand the manifestations of fear. I understand Mike-the-surgical-tech is a fear of Coulson's.
But once the jig is up, why does Mike the surgical-tech attack?
Who are the guys on the Quinjet with Deathlok? Why isn't the army chasing them?
Looks like I missed the episode before this one:(

judgeing from the way his head started to burn I think he was shifting to Ghost Rider as a fear.
cause lets face it Ghost Rider is scary

I think the guys from the quinjet were other SHIELD agents, it wasn't made clear who exactly. Presumably, with the covert way Deke had to contact them, they were operating out of some secret SHIELD facility the army didn't know about.
That's what I assumed. A cameo by Hill would have been cool though.
All I know is the Fear Dimension SHOULD have featured one of the Fear Lords and/or Nightmare.
But regardless, the new guys are new blood Agents that probably survived the second round of purges. As for why the army hasn't found them, I'm pretty sure Deathlok is the reason.
GreenDragon1133 wrote: That's what I assumed. A cameo by Hill would have been cool though. Doesn't she work for Stark now, instead of SHIELD? (Well, unless she took Cap's side during Civil War and quit)
Kahnya,
I'm pretty sure she still works for Stark but who know if she stayed on after Civil War. It wasn't like it was clear what happened with Ex-Shield people during the post Ultron thingie.

I'm not convinced we've seen the last of the fear dimension. The device Fitz whipped up seemed to contain the rift for now, but it doesn't have to hold forever.

When Deke pops into existance in the current time, he says, "Oh, boy." First thing I thought was "Quantum Leap reference."

I haven't watched any QL in too long.
So anyone want to make a prediction if one of the Fear Lords and/or Nightmare shows up?

Well Nightmare MIGHT be a long shot, but the other guys might be up for grabs. I just tossed him in for 'brand recognition" of Fear guys.
Thomas Seitz wrote: Well Nightmare MIGHT be a long shot, but the other guys might be up for grabs. I just tossed him in for 'brand recognition" of Fear guys. Which makes sense to me... Even collecting Marvel for 25+ years Nightmares' the only one I really know. Who else am I forgetting about? D'Spayre maybe? I haven't seen him since the mid 90's... Any others are a Blank.
D'Spayre could be an interesting choice if they wanted to have a bit of cross pollination with Cloak & Dagger. (Assuming that show ever becomes much more than a teen soap with superpowers.)
So any thoughts on what organization Hale might be running? Kind of hoping it might be a new iteration of A.I.M. Because if anyone is going to use robot soldiers, its A.I.M.
I kind of hope it's AIM too but it might also be ULTIMATUM or some other strong nationalist thing.

OK, it's Hydra...AGAIN. Look, I'm not saying that Hydra shouldn't be there: it has been and always should be SHIELD's nemesis. It's just that over the past five seasons and nine major story arcs, Hydra has either been center to the story (in four of the nine) or involved significantly in some way for most of the rest (three of the remaining five arcs). That's a bit much. Having them show up once or twice a season for a few episodes, fine. Having a story arc (half a season) every couple of years, OK. But with only two half season story arcs over five years with only a glimmer of Hydra activity is over saturation, IMHO.
Otherwise, great episode with at last a reference to Fitz's brain damage. They have been acting like he fully recovered; now we know he never fully did. Beautifully done and wonderfully acted by Iain De Caestecker.

I was a tad disappointed it was Hydra...but it's not like that came out of the blue, what with Hale and Strucker hanging out in the past.
Disappointed that it is Hydra again. But the Fitz stuff, now that is messed up.
I'm with Feros, I'm glad they dealt with Fitz's brain damage along side his experiences in the Framework.
Man Fitz has it rough... even in comparison to everyone else. Guy can't catch a break.
Fitz does have it rough. No arguing there. His worst fears live inside his own head and manipulate him quite well from there.
Regarding Hydra...enough already. Can we get an arc with AIM or something? Please? We've retread this ground too much already. Space was new ground. Though I was interested in the shadowy leader offering General Hale odium...like the Kree had.
I was kind of hoping more from like Ultimanium or maybe even Skrulls.

Poor Fitz and poor Daisy for being operated on near her spine without anesthesia.
Yeah the pulling the cords out thing was rough.

How about actually seeing ZODIAC?
Greenie,
Wouldn't they need that Key for that?
I'm not quite following, I'm only distantly aware of ZODIAC as a SHIELD enemy, and they were featured in the Peggy Carter One-Shot.
Greenie,
In the comics, yes they are an enemy of SHIELD, but they also have this weird cosmic key called the Zodiac Key.
Here's the first version.
Reading about the Key, and its interaction with LMD's, it sounds like the Darkhold took its place.
Got to wonder how Coulson popping up in Captain Marvel is going to work with Agents of Shield. If Coulson knows about the Kree as a consequence of the events of that movie, it's going to kind of run counter to the first few seasons of Agents of Shield.

I suspect his part will be minor, since he must have filmed it around AoS.
I suspect it's more like "Carol ended up in space while Coulson was stuck on Earth." I also doubt seriously the Kree or any other aliens were discussed.
Green,
The key unlike the Darkhold isn't evil. It's just a tool. It just happens to be used a great deal of the time by evil people.

Honestly, AIM and Ultimatum and whatever other terrorist group they decide to use have always been a poor man's Hydra ANYway. There's only so many groups with superscience lead by the evilest of people out for world domination that you can have.
So yeah... if they HAVE to have a mega evil organization that's entire slogan is that it won't ever... EVER die... They may as well use Hydra. They're the Cobra to GIJoe.
Now, that's IF they're going to use a group like that. I really miss those season 1 episodes where they would track down all the supervillains that went beneath the Avengers Radar. The threats too big for normal agents, and too small for Iron Man. That middle ground had a LOT of potential that they abandoned way too early. That was their chance to really expand the MCU and still keep their own place in it.
SHIELD being the underdogs on the run are almost wearing as thin as everything revolving around inhumans. I'd love a 'back to basics' approach.
so, Gravitonium powered Quake.
Yeah I could see that blowing up the planet
and who else is glad to see Talbot's alive
Okay, I still like this show, don't get me wrong, but man the budget cut is really doing a number on this show. I was hoping that would be less apparent once we got back to modern day, but so far 95% of the show takes place in some sort dimly-lit underground bunker, either the Hydra base or the Lighthouse.
I mean even the CW shows have a greater diversity of filming locations. If a 6th season would be filmed entirely in drab bunkers, the show should probably end.
Glad to see Talbot is alive, yes he is an idiot, but he is our idiot.
I wonder what marvel character(if any) Ruby will be if she gets her wish.
With all this talk about gravitonium I was hoping to see Dr. Gravity/Graviton.
You mean the fact that everyplace is just a redress of the SSR base set?
Dragon,
I'm convinced Graviton will make an appearance. Possibly when they try to fire up that little "Hydra version" of the Super Soldier containment thingie.
This episode of shield brought to you by captain crunch and (whatever that one phil chose.)
