So much:

Spoiler:
Enoch, Cygnus, Chronicon. Either my search-fu is weak, or these were not sufficient clues to reveal the comic connections - or there is no comic connection

Lake Ontario. Also nothing comes up.

And in the MCU - like the Arrowverse - the Archer and his Bird are not to be.

SHOTGUN AXE!!!! :)

BTW was that a HYDRA crate? Or the Ark of the Covenant? The box with the German Eagle.

I thought they said that after the late start, the season would be non-stop. That said, I could have predicted it before the episode was done. After that reveal last week, and what happened this week, I'm surprised there won't be a longer delay.

Its what ABC does with AoS.

That was an interesting episode.

Yep good ep.

And a pretty good hint at who is going to be the villain (or at least connected to) for the second half of the season...

Spoiler:
It definitely looked like the crate from Indiana Jones, holding the ark of the covenant, which was good for a chuckle.

Enoch seems like a modern re-interpretation of that Rigellian 'Recorder' that used to accompany people like Thor around to record important events in the universe.

Yeah. That scene was also the first time that Thor himself began to get the clue the power did truly lie within HIM, not the hammer. Mjölnir was just a crutch, and that fight was Thor taking his first steps without leaning on that crutch.

Crutch?!! Mjolnir is the most powerful weapon like ever!

*grumbles*

MMC,

Connected to whom?

Greenie,

None of them connect but I feel like Enoch MIGHT be Rigellian.

Recorder was my take as well.

I'm also curious about

Spoiler:
where Fitz waited out 74 years. I have been unable to Google the name of any start 365 LY distant.

Damon,

Maybe it's non-existent in our universe...I dunno.

I'm thinking we can revise our theories on "who" blew up the planet

Was interesting seeing Fitz channel his bad guy side to constructive ends. Plus great seeing Hunter again.

"Release the Ferrets!"

I think Fitz is the most dynamic character on the show.He seems to be constantly adapting to his surroundings at blazing speeds.
Coulson is probably the least. he doesn't change that much but I like him for that.

Coulson is Dirty Harry disguised as an accountant

Wow that does fit quite well...

Or am I misremembering the distance? 365 million miles would be Jupiter's closest approach to Earth. That makes a lot more sense.

That sounds about right. And looks like that we saw at the end.

Oh, I forgot this last night. Hunter and Mockingbird split up after fighting ninjas. Any particular ninjas? #TheHand

I am thinking (hoping?) that the person might be working with the Superior (e.g. discount MODOK)

I mean...he is still totally out there right?

One line that caught me off-guard;

Spoiler:
Just as Fitz is going away, Hunter puts his hand on the glass and says, "I love you." and Fitz just smirks and says, "I know." I had to rewind because I wasn't really paying attention and was all, 'What?!?' Great little joke, and Hunter's just the type to 'take the piss' out of that moment to relieve tension.

I'm pretty sure it was a movie quote coupled with fraternal feelings, not romantic.

I totally agree with the following: Coulson is Dirty Harry only more meekly dressed/dressed as an accountant; Lance and Fitz aren't a couple, more like guys that like good movie quotes;

Finally if those ninjas AREN'T Hand I will sue someone.

As for the Superior...not sure that name brand knock off is ready for prime time.

Yep. It's the traditional exchange when one party is about to be put into any form of cold-based stasis.

Oh, come on now. Everyone give up their Geek card now. It's from The Empire Strikes Back. When Han is being lowered into the carbonite chamber, Leia blurts out "I love you." to which Han replies "I know" just before he is frozen.

He was supposed to say "I love you, too" or something along those lines, but Ford had the line changed because he didn't think Han would say something like that.

Thomas gets to keep his he knew it was a reference... Although he did not mention the movie... hmm...

Vid,

I just figured it was known.

Yes, thank you, Captain Obvious.

And happy Life Day!

Nice episode this week, with Fitz showing off the attitude and skills he picked up in the Framework. I'm interested to see where it goes.

and Jemma with the knife, dang she really is sick of being the damsel

Spoiler:

Was that an ICER fitz used on Sinara? It didn't "sound" like a real pistol.

Yes.

Disney has a no kill the peons unless it's an R-rated flix. :p :)

It isn't 100% - there have been episodes with body counts (and not just all the people who died when the Matrix collapsed). Back when the team was in the wind, they had no access to icer rounds, and were using live ammo. And HYDRA killed plenty of people in terror attacks.

So I read that Clark Gregg actually directed this one. Very good work.

Spoiler:
Jemma never knew what Fitz had planned, he didn't get to talk to her, and Daisy didn't get a chance to pass a message. But they were both on the same page when the action started. That is some great teamwork!

GreenDragon1133 wrote:

The team also killed the guards of the TAHITI facility for doing their jobs.

Okay fair...but still. You don't see too many mook kills like you did say in "Logan".

I think situations like Fitz was in this episode will be key to him making peace with his Framework identity. He'll come to accept that his dark side is part of his tool kit, to be taken out and used when the work calls for it, and not otherwise.

The exchange between him and Jemma at the end, regarding what he said to her while she couldn't hear, shows the old Fitz is still very much intact.

Great episode though I wish Daisy had killed psychic ball girl. Also of course they had to take Daisy's powers away right before they escaped. It makes me feel that the writers don't know what to do with Daisy with powers unless she is evil.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Same problem as the DCW. If the characters have powers, why don't they use them for everything?

Answer, because the producers don't have $10m per episode to afford the FX.

So they handicap them at every turn, and limit it to a couple times per episode.

In-universe, the question is, if you are inside a tin can, and you are faced with someone who destroyed the entire planet your tin can was ejected from - why do you ever let her have powers?

Seriously, whenever they were on, she could have killed everyone at any moment.

Spoiler:
That force field was no issue. All she had to do was shatter the roof above it, or the floor beneath. And she could have done so while 'aiming' at ball girl. "oopsy, she's just too agile. My that wall is looking bad. Whoops, missed again. Hi Kasius. What are you doing down here?"

Villains are at least as dumb as the heroes.

Well....Daisy with powers would have been a lot more of a curbstomp. I am sure Kree badguys will not be surviving this arc

MMC,

Normal Kree against ANY enhanced people is kind of pretty much a curbstomping for the Kree involved...

I'm speculating here:

Spoiler:
The scenes set in 2018 and the future are after they return from the future.

That colonel that had Fitz sends Graviton/the Gravitonium to a lab in "the city". It gets out of control. SHIELD makes a plan, that is built on Daisy Quaking the situation, after the city is evacuated. Graviton destroys the world.

Gravity storms. Gravitonium powering the Lighthouse.

Flint is the kid's codename

And Mac is no Sisco. Tremors, Pebbles...

Ok I can't for the life of me remember his name, but has Future boy actually said the names of his parents?

Because we have a Time travel device built by Fitz-Simmons, that uses a chunk of the monolith. A chunk that belongs to Future boy's mom.

connect a few dots here but doesn't that imply he's Fitz-Simmons grandkid?

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16

That's be kind of awesome.

Grey,

Maybe. But also I agree with Greenie's idea that Daisy didn't actually do it. Mostly because it makes NO sense.

Totally with you guys on this one. She doesn't have the power and even if she did her own body wouldn't handle it without shttering before she could destroy the planet.

This comes down to something stupid that General is up to. Nobody shoots their own people in the head without nefarious plans on the go.

Oh. I'm also predicting that they get back at the end of this first arc, and then the second arc is preventing this timeline from happening.

Oh, trust me, I've been tempted.

Green,

Well maybe but considering what Fitz says, I think they have to go FURTHER back in time, to before Graviton got released.

This season has been so good so far.

Dark Archive

In the comics, Flint has demonstrated near-planetary-level geokinesis (throwing Pluto at an enemy fleet), so DaisyQuake isn't the only game in town that the show has introduced for possible planet-busting shenanigans.

I'm pretty sure that Robin's last message about Flint is that they need to go back, bring Flint with them, and have his power to hold rock together cancel out whatever (most likely Gravitron) shatters the Earth apart.

BTW while they are saying this has nothing to do with Infinity War. This episode proves that it does.

Earth was just destroyed. We could save the world, but we need to time travel. Too bad we have no means of time travel...
