Just a question about the geography of Minkai.

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Are the 8 provinces separate islands or all on the mainland? I don't have enough money to buy the Jade Regent books, and it being described as an Archipelago threw me a bit.

I'm really sorry if this is the wrong board, but it seems related to maps so... :)
Many thanks!

Minkai is basically just one big peninsula (the archipelago you're thinking of might be Minata, a different country in Tian Xia which actually is an archipelago). There are some islands, but as far as I know, everything's on the mainland.

My map of Minkai doesn't actually show any provincial boundaries, but only one island--Aogaito Island in the south--actually looks large enough to house a province (and it would be a small province, were that the case).

Fantastic, just what I wanted! :D I'll draw the borders up myself and stick some smaller islands around the coast if that's necessary.

Thanks!

Question deux: How large would you say Minkai is? From the tip of the Ikkaku Peninsula to Sokokabe (sp?) in the south, would it be fair to say about the length of Japan?

found a map if you like

Might be a little longer, and a little wider than Honshu.

Wow, that map is what I've been looking for for ages, thank you so much! The size sounds perfect, cheers!

No prob's.

I had found a really kick ass map of Wa and Kozakura, but it's not up anymore....
{these were Forgotten Realms east from the days of yore}

I combined Kara-Tur with Tian-Xia.

You see, K-T is very well flushed-out with lots of detail... but not very interesting. Tian-Xia is very interesting, but not at all detailed. By pasting the K-T fluff into Tian-Xian, I get the best of both worlds.

There's also bits of a few other things in there, like a lot of the Rokugon fluff (since we only got a 5Rings book for OA in 3e). It also has a bit of an anime vibe, with different regions stealing bits from different shows.

The PCs haven't even thought about heading east yet, but at least I have an idea of whats over there if they ever do.
