Summoner Eidolon Configurations

Rules Questions

Good Afternoon fellow gamers,

I have a question for you all, and I am hoping that you will be able to help me out.

I am building a gnomish summoner with a clockwork Eidolon. My DM has disallowed the synthesist archetype so I can't 'pilot' my eidolon.

The issue is, when you can rebuild your Eidolon can you change the base-form too? Or once you choose 'Biped' 'serpentine' or 'quadruped' is that the only form you can have?

I'm looking for a magitek armor type creature that my gnome can ride in/on.

Thank you for your assistance.

Very Respectfully,

The answer is unless the archetype says so, you're stuck with the base form you choose at level 1 for the entirety of your career. The only archetype that says so to my knowledge, is the Evolutionist.

Thanks.

I want to take 'mount' for a biped eidolon... but that's not exactly kosher. The end result was supposed to be something like this: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110620001027/finalfantasy/images/9/ 9e/Magitekarmor.png

But, if my DM won't let me re-skin a quadruped to serve this purpose, I'll go with something less stretching of the rules, such as http://www.ciphergames.com/media/Warmachine/Khador/marauder_heavy_warjack.j pg

Have you sat down with your GM and presented a high level build of what you intend for the biped mount? He may be worried about game balance of a caster on a self propelled gun turret.

Make its base form Serpentine and take the Limbs(Legs) evolution when you can. Then it can legally gain the Mount evolution.

I guess the only other real option is to go Quadruped base and if anyone asks, "Where are the other two legs?"

"Oh, they're really small."

You cannot change the base form of your eidolon.

The Evolutionist archetype gains the ability to change the base form of the eidolon when they level up after 8th level.

The retraining rules in Ultimate Campaign allow you to retrain your eidolon into a new base form.
