Congratulations to Walter Sheppard, VC of Pullman, on earning his 5th star!

Ladies and Gents.

I want to share with you a story about Walter on this moment of his accomplishment.

When I first met Walter...it was because of his dedication to game. You see, he wanted cool prizes and boons for his people out in Pullman, a small college town far removed from everything PFS in our state.

So how did Walter achieve this? Why he drove 5 hours to one of our game days, sauntered up to me, introduced himself and before I could answer...asked "So how do I get you guys to come run cool events, with boons and prizes, all the way out in Pullman?"

To say his dedication has waned at all would be a farce.

He's traveled to PAX east to assist in running games, gathers 2 to 3 car loads of gamers to assist with Paizo con and PAX Prime. He spent two whole days at his local FLGS running We Be Goblins demos for new players to get them involved in his local community.

He traveled 9 hours, each way, to attend a small convention just to make sure we had a gaming presence there.

He attended his first gencon a couple weeks ago...as of course, a tier 1 volunteer.

Today we congratulate and recognize his dedication to our community, his tireless hours of effort and extraordinary contribution, by awarding him the coveted fifth star.

Well done Walter. Shine on my friend, and keep on make believin'.

:) congratulations Walter

One of the best playing experiences I've ever had was two weeks ago at Walter's table. I encourage anyone and everyone to seek out his table if given the chance. Congrats Walter!

Congrats on a well deserved title - Five star GM!

Unlike Kyle, I didn't meet Walter at a gaming event. I met him the night before Pax East where he was drinking a beer in a bar. His good choice in beers must be why he is such a great GM.

Gratz!!!

I think it's a quality of most of the high star GMs that they like to travel

Here here! Walter: what's been your favorite (or maybe, most instructive) experience as a GM? As a player? (Do you getto play/)

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to be on this mountain, it's got a great view.

@Elliott -- That's one of the nicest write-ups I've ever read, you jerk. Now I'll have to write something better when you get your 5 stars. Expect us to have words at PAX. And hugs. Jerk.

@Baird -- Glad you liked the game; I think it was my 10th special/exclusive... so you could almost say you gave me this star. Kind of like how you gave Todd your ice cream.

I only get to pick one!? C'mon Chris!

As a GM: Everyone knows this story, so I'll share something new.

The table I ran of Bonekeep at PaizoCon was pretty awesome. I had an excellent table of non-optimized characters that went to Bonekeep expecting to clear a room or two and then back out when things got brutal. I expected the same thing.

They ended up clearing 6 rooms and stopped only because time was called.

How did they accomplish this? Teamwork. Each player at the table worked with each other. They asked for aid when they were wounded, retreated from a room when needed, and complimented each other's abilities so well that even the most brutal challenges Bonekeep could throw at them were overcome by their perseverance. And when their cleric fell in the final room, I listened on with a proud smile as I heard everyone start chipping in for the raise dead.

Nicest. table. ever.

As a player: I do get to play sometimes! Earlier this year, Kyle Elliott drove the 5 hours over to Pullman for a long weekend and ran all four parts of EOTS, back to back to back to back.

It was easily one of the best PFS experiences I've ever had. We did it in a non-stop, mini-con fashion, taking breaks only to eat, sleep, and drink (and drink). We all played 45 hours of Pathfinder in 4 days, and I recorded the audio for the whole thing. Listening over the recordings still cracks me up.

I only wish that I'll be able to deliver the same epic performance as Kyle did for us one of these days. That man more than earned his volunteer of the year award, I tell you what.

Congratulations Walter on your 5th star!!!

My first time meeting Walter was Winterfest 2012. It was my first time playing with a completely different group and it was an amazing experience. I felt very welcomed and was able to play in my very first special (I started GMing in August of that year and only played about once a month). One of these days, I might be able to make to Pullman and play at a table you are GMing.

Great job Walter!!!

So proud of you Walt! You definitely deserve it. You spend so much time learning and understanding all aspects of the game, and it really shows when you GM and when you play.
