Gaining a third mythic tier is, it seems to me, of particular note in the characters' careers -- because it is at that point and beyond that they can take the Divine Source universal path ability, and claim the mantle of demigods.
Will there be any advice for the GM on how to handle this leap, and for the players on how to acquire a following (or convert preexisting followers to your new religion), etc.?

Thats a great point, what happens to the story if one, or some of the hero's choose to be a lesser diety? Is it more that the mythic hero with that ability is not so much a new diety but a focus point for a Power.
Nothing happens to the story. No more so than if a player picks up Leadership, honestly. It can be as little or big a deal as the player and GM want to make of it, but the actual rules granted by this power aren't particularly game-breaking. The flavor can be pretty exceptional, but again... not so much that it overwhelms the rest of the story.

I look at these things as a opportunity to enrich the story with what you and your players enjoy. If your players are looking at certain abilities or getting excited about something, try to capitalize on that and deepen the immersion!
:)
I'm glad when I get players having fun with something or excited about something or getting into some aspect of the story or some new ability they have. It gives me more direction on how to make things excitin for everyone!
