Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Will there be\has there been some information released on how to create your own character? He card-shaped format is really only for consistency in a physical sense. I don't suppose it would be too hard to isolate what is a racial feature and what is a class feature and create new race\class combos... say I wanted to play a Halfling rogue instead of Mirisiel, for instance. I could isolate out the "elf-ness" in what is on Mirisiel's cards, and combine what is left with the "halfling-ness" of Lem...

Clearly, Paizo wants to stick with the Iconics, and that's awesome, but there's always going to be someone who is going to want to try something different.

The Basic Set Rulebook has a small section on how to create your own character. See the "Rules: Making Your Own Cards" sidebar on page 19.

I definitely agree with you though; the game looks awesome, but I wish they would have allowed for different Class/Race combos (making room for exponentially more character options).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I posted over on the product page for the character add on pack that I would be interested in seeing some "sandbox" add on packs that could have other characters, more detailed rules on character creating and more scenarios, locations, and suggestions for building you own side quest adventures to use during RotRL.

The rules for making your own character are a good start but pretty limited overall.

I know they have more items in the pipe now for the next year and think it is probably selling well enough that they could do some more before a new box set its the pipeline for next year. (Hopefully)

Just a word of warning: Characters are the single hardest card type to design; even small errors in relative power can lead to making the game less fun than it ought to be. They need to be playtested harder than any other card, which is why there's not a zillion of them. Believe me, if they were easy, we'd have a lot more of them. Heck, the promo card Poog of Zarongel probably would have been a character instead of an ally.

(Want to know something even harder than designing a character card that's not broken? Telling *you* how to design a character card that's not broken.)

All that said, if we see a strong appetite for more characters, we'll find ways to make them happen.

Oh I believe that is true after playing the little that I have... of course that is why I pay you guys the big buck to design stuff for us. LOL

There are still plenty of iconics out there. I really want to try the game with Lirianne, Gunslinger.
