Feat for a Kensai

Advice

Grand Lodge

I have an elf Dawnflower Dervish 1/Kensai-Bladebound 4 who just hit level 6 and I am trying to decide what to take for my free Combat feat.

I currently have:
Dervish Dance
Toughness
Weapon Focus (Scimitar)
Combat Casting
Dodge

My character has an AC 30 but if I am denied my Dexterity bonus it drops to 20 and if I haven't acted yet in combat, it can drop to 16. I am looking at either Improved Initiative or Blind-fight. I haven't had a need for Blind-fight yet and I do have spells like Glitterdust, but I am at the level where Darkness, Invisibility and Blindness are going to be a lot more common.

Intensify Spell or Craft Wondrous Item come to mind.

The free Magus feat can be item creation, combat, or metamagic. Intensify Spell is a great one to slap on Shocking Grasp. But at level 5 of your caster level it's probably not helping you a ton. You'll want it at some point, though. If you have 13 STR this would be a good time to pick up power attack.

IMO, power attack isn't that great for 3/4 BAB, one-handed weapon users. You lose too much accuracy, lowering your overall average DPR. Most of the damage isn't from the weapon anyways, but from the touch spells used, and the extra crit chance via keen scimitar. I could see waiting on intensify spell until level 9, where you will get some immediate gain from it, but grabbing it at 6th means you won't lose any damage progression, either. Alternately, use the feat to get an extra arcana.

Personally, unless you can't make use of the craft feats (eg, PFS), CWI is far and away the best feat for 6th. Far too many good items that you can make for half cost, such as pearls of power, resistance cloaks, stat boost belt (and headband if you get access to a scroll). Those will improve your overall effectiveness.

Arcane Strike

Grand Lodge

Thanks for the suggestions.

Craft Wondrous Item: It's a PFS character so no item creation feats.

Power Attack/Piranha's Strike: I don't qualify for either of these.

Intensify Spell: Plan on taking it at 7th when it will actually matter.

Arcane Strike: I keep looking at this one but Swift action economy is an issue. The first round of combat I usually use a spring loaded wrist sheath to pop out a Wand of Shield. Second round I usually spend a point from my pool to enhance my weapon. On top of that, my two Bard spells are Feather Fall and Liberating Command (both of which have proven very useful) and I plan on taking Arcane Accuracy and possibly Spell Shield, all of which are either Swift or Immediate actions, so I don't see me getting a lot of use out of Arcane Strike.
