Yep, it's going craaaaaaaaaazy. Wonder how many waves they will make this time...

Well how many US packages could they ship a day? Was it 600+ so, hopefully if they can get the later waves it shouldn't be too much later.

And wowsers it's already starting to fly past $250k.

I like the fact that they are aiming for September of next year as the target date. That is later than the actual shipping for Bones I, so should be far more realistic.

EDIT: Correction: The main target is for October 2014. Only us Early Birds are targeted for September! :D

Basically they learned their lesson and are setting expectations of shiping at the pledge moment. They believe they can ship 2k orders in 2 weeks or so, I believe them (assuming they do 2 waves per month). But it means that when someone clicks the pledge button, they know that even if shipping starts on time, it might be a month (or more when we get to waves 5,6,7 and 63) before their pledge reward is shipped.

0-300k in an hour...that has to be a record for non-video game kickstarters at least if its not a record for kickstarters in general.

The Exchange

Wow. Just amazing how fast they are rolling in. I would say it'll be an easy million by the end of the day. Everyone better get in now, only 25 days to go!!! lol

The Exchange

The Kraken is frickin' awesome!!!

Grand Lodge

Past 400k in under 2 hours... this thing is flying!

Internationals beware... we'll need to pay Actual Postage this time.

I am so freaking happy we got Mouselings!! That alone makes up in advance for not having any actual Chronoscope minis.

Well that and the fact they added a Gorgon AND a Chimera to the base set!! I mean that is just crazy!

The Exchange

Whew, got in on second round of shipping....only 240 of them left then it all goes to 3rd round of shipping.
I pledged $175. I figure that should be enough to get any extras I may want, with some hard choices....

Good grief...pass. I've only painted about ten of the ONE BILLION I got the first time. :P

But that's also good for Reaper as they don't have to give a cut to Kickstarter. But it also implies since we'll have to add funds on for that, backer's may be able to add funds on later.

The Exchange

I would love to see Reaper do a line of Bones Dungeons. It could be a bunch of floors for laying out dungeons. 2"x2" squares that could go together to make corridors and rooms, with different tile patterns like stone, cavern, brick, ceramic tile...each with some minor variations or something. I would be all over that.

Grand Lodge

nice idea

Sovereign Court

They are doing a gelatinous cube that you can stick a miniature in :) Sweet.

Bones dungeons would be very cool.

The Exchange

Hey where did the image go? It's not showing the package anymore.

Somethings happened to all the pictures on the kickstarter, its not just the front page image, its in the updates too.

Edit, Reaper's main page is lagging. I'd imagine that has something to do with the missing pictures. They are dosing themselves again by producing a product everyone wants to buy, and making the process exciting enough to have every backer want to keep hitting f5 every 30 seconds.

lol...it seems to be back. Looks like a nice group of minis so far with the demons added in.

Well that's what Dwarven Forge did with their wildly successful KS (& they are doing a caverns one soon~ish). Although I wonder how the Bones material compares.

Do we know if we can use PayPal to pledge? I recall you could on the last Kickstarter, but only close to the end did they make that available.

As far as I know you have to go through amazon payments. I didnt know you could do paypal last time.

I have Bones fever... I was supposed to have gone to a painting get-together (yes, Bones I painting) but can't tear myself away from the screen.
However, the most recurring thought that's running through my head is: "Damn, this is going to be expensive!"

Kolokotroni wrote:

Many of the large companies doing kickstarter set up a seperate paypal outside of kickstarter for people who have issues with Amazon payments (including many international backers). Usually it takes a few days to set up. Reaper did it towards the later part of their last kickstarter.

....I'm still painting the first batch.......

but mouselings call to me, so money goes poof

EDIT: And this time I'm getting the Paint set. Not making that mistake again

Liberty's Edge

Speaking of that paint set - does anyone remember if it's the same as one of the sets offered last time?

I got two of the paint sets from last time and it is different from either one of those. This appears to be a new set (which I have added!)

I did not get the paint sets last time, and I regret that. If I support this one, I will get the paint set(s). I may also get the case. I'm thinking about it and looking at the budget.

Very interesting, that there's another Chronoscope stretch goal. That's quite cool, I know it's not the most popular miniature range - but diversity can be good. Although they are on sunken bases, rather than the usual Reaper bases.

Plus more of the miniatures in this KS appeal to the Games Workshop crew - with the skaven and the beastmen.

It isn't a new batch of paint - these are from their existing line of HD Paints. Certainly different from the paints offered in Bones I though.

Oh and - HA! CHRONOSCOPE AHOY!@!!!! :-D

So glad they did some Chronoscope. Everyone deserves some lovin'.

Those look to be pictures of the metal versions of the minis - likely the BOnes version will have the so-called broccoli base

Got it. That's actually what I was asking - I picked up the first 2 sets of paints with my Vampire pledge for the first Bones Kickstarter so I wanted to see if the paint colors in this new set were different or the same as those offered in the previous sets.

It's just awesome to me and my friend will also be stoked - he got all the Chronos from the last KS and I know he'll like these ones even more. Hopefully they let us order extra sets of the Core Set add ons like last time (don't see why they wouldn't really).

To me this KS has already blown the doors off the first one - those giants, the GORGON & CHIMERA just added to the Core Set (I would have paid extra for those and likely will get an extra too!), the G-Cube just so many incredible reveals and were not even 12 hours into this bad boy! Gonna be a long, exciting month!

The Exchange

Swamp things just showed up as a 858K goal....they look awesome! Excited to have them.

Wait, people have time AND inclination to PAINT these? I got my Vampire set last time just to get a nice range of minis for battle representation. I'm looking to do so here again, but PAINTING them? Ya gotta be kiddin' me... ;)

anyone know if there are rules floating around somewhere in pathfinder or d20 for mousefolk? Those mouselings look really good.

Hey... I've painted like 20 of the bergillion minis i got with my pledge... I'm getting there... *shifty eyes*

The response to this KS has been insane....I actually wouldn't be surprised if they hit $1 million within the first 24 hours...and the demons look soooo tasty....

For a while now I've Wanted to make a game setting inspired by the Mouseling and the Animal minis from Darksword

Their Japanese themed Guinea Pigs are awesome but their entire line of anthropomorphic animals would make for a fantastic setting.

If you haven't seen them you should check out the whole line. Wouldn't it make just an awesome world to play in

Between the two kickstarters I might finish painting them before I die of old age at the rate I'm going. Too bad work makes me take time away from mini painting.

Wow. I'm impressed. I and the other guy in my group who paints have together done about six so far.

That said, having too many incredibly cheap minis than the time to paint is a good problem to have.

I've hit on a secret to getting things painted

Be low on paint and put too much in the tray. Since I don't want to buy new paints I have to make sure I use it up. I end up digging in the box for figs that could use that color. Little by little they all end up getting done, but in the mean time I have dozens sitting on the table with just a little bit painted here and there.

I love the bones figures. Great for conversions. Put the head of a rat on a kobold body, added a bandolier of potions, added some bombs and knapsack, some baggy pants and a fez, a nice ratfolk alchemist for a friend.

Highly recommend these figures.

The thing that amazes me the most is the 9,000 backers already. In comparison to the 10,500 of the last campaign; I know it should be more popular overall but...wow.

So this one will probably be the classic 'U' shaped KS, as most of the current backers will increase their pledges near the end. With currently the average pledge being $112, compared to the $250+ last time. Though with the extra backers by the end, I would guess the average will be lower.

But the first Bones campaign had 17,744 backers?

Mark Sweetman wrote:

Whoops, I thought it was only 10k (I was going from memory). But you are correct, it must have been the unusual campaign last time where they were accelerating to the end rather than there being a rush.

But that's great, means that if they retain 70% - whilst getting new backers... then they could beat the last total.

The first kickstarter was very much a word of mouth and slow burn build - before an insane rush at the end. In the last three days you had a ~10k backer increase.

Since everyone already knows about bones now - you're right that this will have more of a U shape - with massive early take up, probably a slow period in the middle before the last few days seeing big numbers again.

They're also pacing themselves more, so it's unclear what will happen. Vampire level ended up at just over 200 minis. The way they've been making more things into options this time, it's hard to tell what $100 will get you. Part of the pull of Bones 1 was the ridiculous value. If we get "nickel & dimed" by options this time it may fizzle once that becomes evident.

Not complaining, at all. It's fair for Reaper to make money on this and pricing is their job. It's just not looking to necessarily turn into the same orgy of cheap minis the last one was.

The $250+ average last time was because people pledged for multiple core sets and lots of extras. As the kickstarter went on, the average increased instead of decreasing. They haven't released nearly as many add ons, and many people wait until towards the end to up their pledge for what they want then, rather than updating a bunch of times in the middle. They also haven't said whether people can add 100 for additional core sets, to my knowledge.

As a side note, one of the reasons the 1st kickstarter had a slow burn was because it took a while for the upper pledge levels to become a deal. People saw it but were not willing to put in the high pledge ammounts for only 30 minis. Once it started hitting arround 100 minis, it took off. This kickstarter has the success of the first one to build off of, so enough people are just willing to make the leap blind before seeing what gets added. This will give it the more traditional U curve for major kickstarters.
