Secret Identity Advice

Advice

I am GMing for a few players that want to have their characters have secret identities i.e. Spider-Man/Peter Parker. I think this is a cool idea and want to let them do it, but I'm stuck as how to implement it well. My first thought was to create a feat of some sort that allows them to change quickly (couple rounds as opposed to the many minutes taken to don armor normally.) Any thoughts are welcome.

Skill Focus: Disguise

OR

Wand of Disguise Self, to eliminate the need to spend several minutes donning the new identity.

OR

I think there are some chameleon, shape shifter, archetypes

OR

Houserule something appropriate to your GM style

I'll look those up and take it into consideration. Thanks

I made a feat a while ago called

Quick Change:
I think it went like

Quick Change
Prerequisites:None
Benefit:You may use the disguise skill as a move action to attempt to dawn a disguise. If someone has line of sight to him, they get a +20 on the perception check vs. the bluff. If someone sees you go out of line of sight, and then you in disguise come back into line of sight, They get a +5 on the check. At 5 ranks in disguise, and every 5 ranks afterwards, the bonus given is reduced by 5.

I posted it somewhere else, but can't seem to find it.

Liberty's Edge

This is one of those games that sort-of requires a "thematic" rule. In this case, the rule would be "No-one realizes your real identity as long as you wear a basic, even if terrible, costume, and at least attempt to hide the identity. The only exception is those explicitly looking to discover who you are. If they are, then you're on your own, except that people require an unusual amount of proof to believe them."

If you're not willing to do that, then I suppose Disguise is your best bet. Perhaps Perform (Acting) as well.

Someone who wants to have a "Master of Disguise" type of character would primarily be using their disguise skill to look like people who are neither their superhero identity nor their real identity. In addition, if using the thematic rule above, they would be almost untouchable with regards to their secret identity.

You might want to look at the ring of chameleon power.

Sovereign Court

I've seen a player pull this off very well with using a Ninja. There is some ninja trick that allows for quick disguises or illusions, plus the class already lends itself to superhero-esque shenanigans.

I've also played a superhero type using a Synthesist Summoner and taking the favored class bonus to reduce the summoning time by 1 round per level.

Seconded.

I'd suggest something like the Quickchange Cloak in UE. It contains three disguises of the player's choice. They can be instantly assumed by passing the cloak in a particular manner. It's pretty cool; I have a halfling who is not what she says she is thanks to the cloak. The disguises can be mundane, too, since as I understand it, the cloak stores the disguise instead of fabricating it.

Since super-people can wear capes, it'd kind of go hand-in-hand.

Hat of disguise, which can disguise itself as anything! Or the sleeves of many garments which can be any outfit! Alternatively be like superman and blow all your skill ranks in disguise self so even a simple pair of glasses can disguise your character.

Or you know... Just wear a mask. One character I played had like, 4 of them, and he wasn't even in disguise!
