Anyone tried it? The mystery investigation premise seems interesting. What about the system itself?

My group has a copy. I've per used it but haven't quite grokked the system. It's a bit odd but I'm hoping I'll wrap my head around it eventually. Also have Mutant City Blues and a couple of modules for it (same system, right?) and have read that a bit more. Will post here if I figure anything out...though we probably won't get around to playing either of these for some time.

I have Ashen Stars and Dead Rock Seven, along with almost every Trail of Cthulhu book. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to actually play more than a trial section of Trail. So, yeah, sorry. It seems pretty simple once you get your head around it, but it seems like the average player will need to get used to 1. Not rolling for everything and 2. Budgeting and managing point spends for general abilities. Investigative spends aren't such a big deal since essential clues never require a spend, but general abilities need a bit more finesse to manage or else the PCs could be out of points by the climactic finale or getting their butts kicked because of "too good to use syndrome".

Cheers, I can't wait to try both AS and ToC

It's on my "to buy" list. Gumshoe's way of handling mysteries is very nice. The rest of the system is servicable.

No news from people who tried it?

Can its rules work with Cyberpunk settings?

I own all the Gumshoe stuff and played A LOT Trail of Cthulhu since it was first published - I do not see any trouble using the system in Ashen Stars or any of the other settings. (I have some personal issues with superhero settings, but this has nothing to do with the rules).

Gumshoe plays great, easy, fast, very simple system, great for first-time roleplayers but also very good for "professionals".
