M Hobgoblin

Mengzi Ren Rui stands in the center of the archway, placidly surveying the arena. He stands five and a half feet tall, wearing only simple trousers and a Tien vest. Despite his peaceful expression, Meng Ren feels his heart skip with adrenaline. The contest between two artists of battle, a dance of a duo of destruction, a positive penumbra of possibilities for perfection, is what he has sought and found. Exhaling a cloud of aromatic smoke, he taps out his pipe on the arena wall and leaves it and his tobacco tin in a neat bundle- Kung Fu has no time for pockets. He stands tall, alert, in a neutral stance, ready for anything.

Female Human Monk 3

A small human woman walked into the arena, half of her face veiled by a mask. Her eyes darted to the crowds, her billowy clothing obvious to not wearing any armor what so ever. She raised her fists as she spotted the over grown goblin.

Initiative= 8 Suppose I get to go first then~

Arbiter:
init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

The Monk quickly dropped into a hybrid of two stances, fingers clawing outwards while arms raised outwards protectively. She waited for the other combatant to make his move.

arbiter:
Swift action Activate Tiger, +2 cdm to bullrush, trip or over run; attacks are slashing, and crits cause target to bleed 1d4 for the next two turns at the start of his turn. End turn.

Meng pulls out a small vial from one of the secret pockets Kung Fu does allow, and drinks it with a grimace. The surface of his skin shimmers a moment, then stops. A smile tugs one corner of his mouth for a brief moment. Meng Ren eyes his opponent and brings both fists up and together in salute, and then he twirls in a tight pirouette a few feet towards Felrisa, ending in a stance that looks deceptively off balance. His fist opens, and he beckons Ferisa Vex.

Meng moved from A-11 to B-11

Arbiter:
Meng Ren Rui draws a potion of Mage Armor (move), drinks it(standard), steps five feet forward(free), er, either north or south, I guess we'll figure that out easily enough, and enters crane style (swift)

Female Human Monk 3

With a grin hidden by her mask she dashes forwards, reaching the center of the arena and fanning her arms slightly outwards, growing more defensive, and dropping into a defensive posture.

Move from L-10 to G-10. Your turn. Thank you~ No change to position.

Arbiter:
Move action to go from L-10 to G-10, Swift action to Activate Turtle Style+1 shield Ac, Standard Action to go into Total defense. +4 Ac for this round. Total ac is 22 for this round.

Meng cautiously circles his opponent. His steps are small, his arms relaxed and close to his body. His eyes are alert, ready and watching.

Meng moves 30 feet from B-11 to G-13

Arbiter:
Move 30 ft as move action, total defense as standard action+5 ac (crane style). Current AC 29 (10 +5 des +4 wis + 4 Mage armor + 5 total defense +1 nat armor (race))

With a quick movement she retrieved a vial of liquid from her belt pouch, drinking it quickly and disappearing completely from sight.

You took too long to start the fight, how sad. Dc to pinpoint my location with hearing is 39 (Dear lord!!!)

Meng Ren closes his eyes and curses inwardly. He takes out another vial and drinks it. His eyes gaze skyward, his face silent with inward contemplation. He clasps his hands in front of him, hoping to weather the storm to come.

Lol uh oh! Yeah Meng can't do that. Here's hoping he can make a few rounds :p

Arbiter:
Drank potion of shield. Flat footed AC = 21 (10 + 1 nat armor + 4 wis + 4 Mage armor + 2 shield

With a roar the fighter was suddenly in Meng's face, both hands punching forwards viciously. The attack is so savage it attempts to throw him backwards.

Suddenly in g12, Attack with 18, denied dex and dodge bonuses due to invisibility first attack, 8 damage if hit, If hit 18 dc against bull rush to push you back 5 feet into g14, does not provoke attack of opportunity

The invisible blows pound Meng Ren's body, but his trunk moves like a tree before a hurricane. He retrieves a glowing tincture, sidesteps, sips it, and spits glittering bright pink fire above him, which settles in the squares surrounding G-13. Meng's eyes flash open and his body tenses, hoping to see his attacker visible.

attack does not hit.. I didn't take your attack direction into account with my potion usage. Would Meng be allowed to know what direction the attack came from? Along that line, can you make an attack seem to originate from a different position? I am operating on the assumption he wouldn't know that. He would, however, assume you are adjacent to him at the time of attack. I'm rolling a d9 to see where Meng will five foot to before drinking the potion since he would have also assumed you could have been anywhere around him. F-12 is one, proceeding clockwise movement square: 1d9 ⇒ 6 Meng five foots into H-13 and provokes if adjacent.

My invisibility wears off as soon as I attack, it's not greater. You didn't know that and probably misread, so I'll give you a muligan on that move. My attack came basically from the front as we where facing each other before I drank the potion and I just 5 footed to you twice in a row forwards. But as I said, I'm standing right in front of you at g-12 and missed my attack and bull rush attempt.

Oh, I had thought you were still invisible, I see how I misread that. Well, let me change my action.

Reeling with the force, Meng immediately strikes back with lightning speed. A first fist strikes out lightly, and then the second as he shifts his weight with it. Despite his aggressive counter, he still appears highly able to defend himself.

The first punch impacts heavily, the second narrowly missing. Seeing his vigor she puts up her own defense after taking a step back. Pulling out another vial she says "Not bad Green one" and Puts up her arms up defensively.

First hit, second miss, 8 damage taken. g-13 to g-12, no AoO. End turn Also I should have got more potions apparently~

Arbiter:
Five foot step backwards, move action to remove a potion from my pouch, and standard action to go into total defense.

"Your guard was open. Let's see how strong it is now," Meng says as he lightly steps towards Felrisa, his own defenses high. In a flash, his fist darts out and jabs lightly, looking for weaknesses. A second follows immediately after, Meng swimming through the movements.

Arbiter:
Five foot, flurry of blows, fighting defensively. First Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Second Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Crit Threat: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 critical damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 6) + 10 = 20 AC unchanged from previous round

First attack is 11 to hit for 7 , second attack is a critical threat with 15 to confirm. If the critical confirms (unlikely) 20 damage, if not, 7 damage. I thought I was in G-13, or are we using my movement to H-13? Regardless, I should be adjacent. I am operating as if I am in H-13, let me know if I need to correct anything. And yeah, Meng would definitely be in much more dire straights without his potions.

I'm going to give Kaira 12 more hours to check in, then I will call the match for you so we can move on to the next round.

. One thing, you only get either a standard or move action in the surprise round (along with a swift action and a 5 ft step.) Shouldn't matter much as you could have started out with the potion in your hand, but something to note for future reference.


Ok I am calling this match for Meng! I know not the way you wanted to win but I am sure your next opponent will be more active.

Visible gear- Two bandoleer covered in various colored fluids in vials.

A tiny Lizard walks into the arena, clothing composed of leaves, bones and wood, with two straps of leather holding lots of vials and other things. With a elegant bow she eyes up her competition.

Arbiter:
Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

To you as well, my verdant opponent. Initiative 17, sorry for the delay. Visible gear are several vials stitched to his vest. After you!

Meng Ren Rui enters the arena and placidly surveys his surroundings. He brings his fists together and salutes Sariras Greenscale.

Reacting faster she reached up and grabbed a vial off of the leather holder, twirling the green fluid in her hands.

"Meany Greeny; With extra Meany HAHAHAHAHA~" Comes out of her Fanged Maw, cackling hysterically.

Meng Ren's eyes flash towards the vial, and he eyes his opponent Suspiciously. His fists part, and he opens his hands to reveal a small vial of his own, which he gulps the contents of and twirls into a deceptively off balance stance, like a tree on the side of a mountain.

"You should know, its not easy being green." His voice rumbles low across the arena.

Arbiter:
Drink palmed potion of Mage Armor, enter Crane style.

"Green like trees, Green like grass, Green like wolf; No wait, that not right." She says with a chant, before gulping down the contents of the flask, Fangs and claws growing visibly bigger and scales more defined.

Her hand hovers back up and pulls off another flask, smiling a fang faced smile at him.

Drinks a flask, takes another off her belt.

Arbiter:
Drank Dex Feral Mutagen, +4 Dex, Adds Claw and enhanced bite attacks, +2 natural armor, -2 Wis. Current Ac=24. Move action to grab Extract of shield off of her straps.

Watching Sariras' transformation, Meng's eyes widen. A slow grin parts his mouth, revealing his own, if less impressive, fanged canines. Inwardly, his heart flutters, and his senses heighten with adrenaline as the arena seems to grow brighter, and the sounds louder. He breathes deeply and circles the arena.

"Ha. One of us is green like wolf. We will soon find which of us is green like sheep."

Move 30 feet from A11 to C15

Arbiter:
Move 30 feet, standard action to Total Defense. AC 31 (10 + 5 dex + 4 wis + 1 nat armor + 4 mage armor + 7 total defense (3 acro ranks, crane style)) Touch AC 26

She cackles loudly and downs the next drink quickly, air around her lightly shimmering. "Green Sheep, Green sheep, Green Wolf in sheep's Wool~" She grabs yet another drink off her belt and twirls it in her claws.

"Are you the sheep, or the woof? Sairiras Is Dragonborn, so so she is in scales~"

So much setup it makes me sad~

Arbiter:
Move action to drink the extract of shield +4 Shield , use another move action instead of standard action to pull extract of Expeditious Retreat Total ac for 3 minutes= 28 Touch ac= 19

Meng continues his turtle-like advance into Sariras' side of the arena. His breaths begin to come faster as he approaches, but he concentrates, and remains in the place of Focus. On his way he deftly snatches a vial from his vest.

"So much bark, how is the bite?" Meng says in nearly a whisper.

Lol. Well, optimization requires consumables. And if you aren't using 5% a fight, you're basically wasting it, right?

Move 30 feet from C15 to G13

Arbiter:
Move, draw potion as free action, total defense

With a chuckle she downed the vial quickly, tossing the glass behind her as she shimmered once more. With a quick stretch of her legs she Dashed over towards the other side of the arena with inhuman speed. "Hahahahah, Greeny Wolf can't catch me~~~"

Eh, consumables are good for these one fight situations, but still feels a bit cheap to me~ F-10 - A10

Standard action to drink the Extract of expeditious retreat, movement speed increased by 30 ft for 3 minutes, Move action from F-10 to A-10, 55 ft moved.

Meng tenses as the small Kobold springs into action, but relaxes somewhat dissapointedly when she darts away. Still, this new tactic intrigues him.

"Impressive."

Meng circles, trying to predict his opponent's next move. His arms are bent near body, his stance still lopsided. As he moves, you can see how his fabric moves he has other weapons hidden.

Move to H10. You're in A10, right?

And yeah, I understand. I feel the whole point of this tourney is to be kinda cheap ;-)

The small reptile grins a toothy grin at the larger opponent, running at him, but stopping mid way there, pulling a flask off of the belts and tossing it with a cackle. "Burn the green wolf! Burn BURN!!"

A 10 to E 10 Touch Ac check is 26 (Dear lord is that even posible to miss without uber high dex?), does 13 damage if it hits, 5 splash damage if it misses ( Save for half at 14 Ref)

Move action to go from A-10 to E-10, Standard action to throw a bomb 20 ft away at him. touch ac hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 damage on hit: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13 Splash damage if miss= 5 Ref for half at 14

Meng nearly evades the flask, but it strikes his shoulder and bursts. Fire scorches his tough, green skin. Meng Ren's pupils dilate, thunder surges in his lungs, and he surges into action. His movements seem impossibly quick. Meng Ren Rui's gaze locks on his opponents through the smoldering flames, and he bounds right next to her.

"Most impressive. But not enough."

Meng Ren Rui attempts to sieze the small reptile, wherever her darting form may attempt to dodge.

Move to F10. Grapple attempt is 13. Meng provokes an AOO.

Arbiter:

The slippy lizard narrowly dodges the attempt to grab her, retaliating with a bite at his arms for even attempting it, fangs dripping a green liquid.

After the attack she takes a step back and tosses yet another explosive at the hobgoblin. she quickly reached down and ripped out another vial from her belts, filled with a red liquid.

Grapple Failed, Aoo Hit=19 Damage=3 Move from e-10 to d-10 and another bomb thrown at you, Touch ac hit=23 damage if hit=13 splash if miss=5 ( Ref 14 for half)

Arbiter:
Aoo Bite attack enhanced with Dragonmaw for extra acid damage

5 foot step back from E-10 to D-10, Standard action to throw a Bomb at him.

Move action to remove Extract of True-strike from her Bandoleer

Meng Ren Rui deftly avoids the kobold's frightening teeth just as another explosive concoction sears his flesh. The burns roll over the already severe ones from the first, and Meng doesn't look like he can take much more. A gasp of air escapes his chest.

"You're a wily one. The end is near, one way or another."

Meng Ren steps towards Sariras, and reaches out towards her, as if he is going to place a comradely hand on her shoulder.

Move to E10, provoke AOO. I am making another grapple attempt, but for the rest of my actions, I need to resolve the AOO first. Also, full damage taken. Damage taken so far is 26 (!!!)

Arbiter:
5 foot step, grapple attempt (fighting defensively)

The kobold snaps at the over sized goblin once more, teeth flashing white.

Meng Ren was ready for the baited attack. As the biting maw snaps towards him, he twirls into Sariras, stepping through her legs and locking behind her knee. His large hand then vices onto her shoulder. The movements happen as if a tornado has blown into Sariras.

trip attack as an immediate action (Maneuver result= 11), followed by grapple (Maneuver result= 20). Meng provokes again if you have more AOOs. The first AOO did not hit.

Arbiter:

She lifts her legs in a jump avoiding the leg sweep, but jumped right into the waiting arms of the hobgoblin. Instead of trying to struggle out of it she tosses the red potion skywards, snatching it in her maw, the tiniest cracking followed by gulping was heard; and grabs another bomb, tossing it directly into his face regardless of distance; her scales could take the heat!

Drinks my potion as a move action without provoking, then tosses a bomb at pointblank (Which does provoke if you are still standing afterwards), Touch Ac= 32 Damage=10 I think this is probably gg? Honestly, this would have been less of a problem without this Truestrike Extract that I had in my hand; I half expected you to steal it XD

Arbiter:
Move action to drink the extract of true strike +20 to hit ( Accelerated drinker) Standard action to toss a bomb at him which provokes Aoo, Touch Ac hit: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (4) + 28 = 32
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 1) + 3 = 10 5 splash damage if miss, ref for half on splash


Just some notes for you on a couple of things:
AoO's are excuted before the action that provoked them.

Also in the special case of provoking with a combat maneuver be remembered that you substract any damage you take from an AoO from your CMB for the following maneuver.

Another thing is that you can't take AoO's while grappling or being grappled unless you have an ability that removes that restriction.


Ah, I see, so he can't take a AoO from my attack because he is grappling?

Meng doesn't even see the tincture before it breaks, and feels only a flash, and then oblivion. The spectators view a ball of fire which engulfs the two combatants. As the dust settles, the spectators view the small Kobold digging herself out from under the remains of Meng Ren Rui, hardly scorched herself.

Yep, that last bomb finished Meng Ren Rui off. Ahh, truestrike.. AC's ultimate bane. Nice build! Good match, too. It was fun. Best of luck in your future matches ^_^

The Green kobold hauls herself out from the charred and smoldering corpse, checking to see if it was still breathing. " Green Wolf is actually Green Sheep; Experiments where successful~" She pulls out a pair of glasses from her leaf dress; brushing off the minor burns and prodding the charred scales with a small wince. " The big one scared me a bit; And I despise using my stage persona of foolish Kobold, but if it makes the giants underestimate us it works well~~" She opened another flask of Bomb fluid and took a quick sniff, enjoying the scent, before throwing it back on the corpse to make sure it was dead.

That was a good fight; I'm guessing you are a monk, Which is why I had to switch from my normal plan, which was to go natural weapons. I'm assuming those where buff potions like I used so I had no clue how high your ac would be, so I figured my own attacks would just keep missing. Anyways--OVER KILL TIME!!! Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6

Yeah they were buffs. That was a lot of bomb damage; that made me panic for sure. Your character is kool. I'll be cheering for you against the other gladiators.

From the southern end of the arena scuttles a tiny frog man, hop-stepping out of the darkness. It takes one look at the massive figure opposing him. The sand at his feet gets damp.

Soldiering on, he raises his musket, ready to hop.

Surprise Round

The frog—all cute-big-eyed and afraid—hops to the center of the arena, raising its little gun in a parody of menace.
