This is Arena One for the Blood in the Sands PVP Arena

RANDOM BOUT! ELIK THE MAGNIFICENT VS SAMURAI JACK

Elik stumbles into the arena, a balding old man with multitudes of missing teeth and wild eyes. He carries a very worn rod in one hand that looks about a foot too short to be a cane, so when he walks he walks very hunched over. He seems genuinely confused to be in the arena. He looks back into the entrance and says I said I needed a privy not an oversized litterbox! I'll have you know I am on very good terms with her majesty the King of Absalom! I will write a most sternly worded letter of my abuses here if it is not rectified immediately. he pauses for a second as if listening to someone before saying What do you mean a fight to the death? You have my signature where? That's definitely not mine it looks like someone signed it with a childrens coloring pen...I own nothing of the sort. The man appears to then be feeling in his pockets and produces a bright red childs pen ...this is my pen! He then continues rambling until his opponent enters before saying Oh very well! But only because the voices in my head are telling me too! And I'm still writing that letter!

The dark-haired lithe Humanoid enters the arena smoothly and calmly, wearing A full Black lacquered O-yoroi armor. A Red Oni Mask is hiding his face. The light catches small bits of metal shining on the armor. He surveys the crowd briefly with a glance before turning to his opponent and bowing. He holds a parchment in one hand and a Katana and a Wakizashi in their scabbard are hanging from his waist. A few spears are slung over one shoulder in a quiver. A banner with Clan colors is attached to the back of the armor

He bow to his adversary and lets him go first.

Surprise Round

Elik looks over at the strange person on the other side of the arena and shrugs his shoulders.

I'll PM you.

Elik looks around at the assembled audience and shouts out ARE YOU NOT ENTER...*cough* *hack* *wheeze*...all this dust is really...terrible...for my allergies. Before stumbling back out of the arena.

Victory to Elik the Senile! Well Fought!

Heavyhand Stonefist W:1, L:0, T:0, Fame:3

The short and squat dwarf is covered from neck to foot in heavy armor, complete with a large shield in his right hand and a broad axe in is left. Across his back is straped a crossbow and a finely woven basket tops his head. Adorning his armor can be seen images of his heraldry, images of dwarves and elephants duking it out, images of dwarves burning in lava and a finely protrayed portrait of a portrait of cheese. On his back is a single word. Boatmurdered...

Tipping his basket hat to the crowds he udders a single phrase.

Random bout! Olwyn vs Meng

Arbiter:

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
DC 10 check to hide the palmed Drow poison vials in each hand .
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Olwyn strides confidently into the area with tail swishing steadily behind her and eyes scanning the arena. Fresh from her last victory, she beams a menacing smile.

Olwyn has no visible weapons other than the bow/quiver on her back and is armored in simple chain mail.

Initiative = 24

M Hobgoblin

Meng Ren Rui enters the arena puffing his pipe. In a flourish, it and his tobacco tin are gone, and a small vial appears in his large palm. He brings his left hand over his right fist in a salute down ring. Wrinkles spread across his face as a grin cracks, revealing meticulously white teeth and dark gums.

Meng Appears to be wearing only a tien vest, buttoned to his throat, and simple trousers. He is barefoot. A crossbow is slung accross one shoulder. Initiative 16. After you!

Arbiter:

Arbiter:

M Hobgoblin

Meng watches his opponent dart away and shrugs.

"These things have a way of sorting themselves out."

He takes a gulp from the vial and carelessly tosses it over his shoulder.

Meng pirouettes into a lopsided gait, and seems to walk off aimlessly.

Move to C7

Arbiter:

Artiber:

Move Action: Swift Poison to apply Drow Poison to claws.
Free Action: Drop empty vial.
Standard Action: Apply Drow Poison to other claws
Free Actoon: Drop empty vial.

Olwyn remains hidden behind the pillar.

Remains in K9.

M Hobgoblin

Meng Ren Rui has a devious idea, verging on tactical brilliance. He hides behind a pillar of his own. He flattens himself against the wall, hardly breathing, chuckling at the simplicity of his plan.

Move to G4

Arbiter:
Move, total defense

Arbiter:

Swift Action: Ki Point for 20ft speed boost.
Free Action: Activate Daredevil Boots
Move Action: moving to H4.
Acrobatics check to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22
Standard Action: Claw Attack
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Olwyn gracefully moves to H4 Acrobatics check of 22 vs your CMD to avoid AoO and lashes out with her claw 21 to hit (or 22 if my acrobatics check beat your CMd) vs AC for 5 damage.

If the attack hits, make Fort save vs DC 13 or be unconscious for 10 rounds.

M Hobgoblin

Meng is impressed with how lithely Olwyn maneuvers herself adjacent to him, deftly evading his reach. When her claw lashes out, he somehow presses himself even tighter against the wall, avoiding the rake.

Meng Ren Rui seems to cling to the stone itself as he defies gravity and his lead leg lashes out in a lance of force, followed by the other, as he twirls with the momentum.

First attack is 17 to hit, for 9 damage, and the second is 8 to hit for 6 damage.

Arbiter:
Flurry of blows. Fighting defensively. first attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 if hits, for damage1: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 and secondattack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 for damage2: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 EDIT: I messed up the chat commands trying to fix the second attack damage roll, and accidentally edited the first damage one. The first result was 9 total, hopefully it doesn't roll again. Sorry, if it changes, I'll edit again for minimum damage, though I doubt it hit anyway. EDIT2: Ah, it seems to have been fine.

Neither attack hits

Olwyn shifts her body avoiding the force of the blows, and her eyes grow wide as she lashes out in fury at the green monster.

Arbiter:

swift action: Ki Point for Ninja Attack Speed
Full Attack Action:
First Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Second Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Ninja Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Olwyn's claw lashes out 21 to hit for 5 damage and make a DC 13 Fort save, followed by another claw 26 to hit for 4 damage and make another DC 13 Fort save, then she attempts to bite a chunk out of her opponent's flesh 16 to hit for 5 damage, finally another claw swings 9 to hit for 7 damage and another DC 13 Fort save.

If any of the fort saves are failed, you are unconscious for 10 rounds

M Hobgoblin

The attacks miss

Meng avoids the strikes with a combination of small steps, shifts, ducks and bobs. Hoping to strike from an angle to gain some advantage, he sidesteps around Olwyn and continues the barrage, striking underneath her clawing arms.

Five foot to H3. Fists a flyin. First attack 22 to hit for 6 damage, the second 15 to hit for 10.

Arbiter:
Flurry of blows, fighting defensively. JAB: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 for CRACKEDRIBS: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 and POW: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15for SMASH: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Meng's fist lands squarely on the Catfolk's jaw causing her head to snap back violently, but she weaves around the second fist.

Arbiter:

Swift Action: Ki Point for Ninja Attack Speed
Full Attack:
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage.
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 damage.

Eyes burning with fury, she continues her assault lashing out in rage at her opponent. Claws lash out 14 for 6 damage and 26 for 6 damage followed by fangs 22 for 4 and another claw 17 for 2.

Looks like they are all going to miss, but any claws that hit will result in a DC 13 Fort save.

M Hobgoblin

Yes, attacks miss

Dodging the attacks for now, Meng Ren Rui steps towards Olwyn, his foot pivoting behind her heel, as his palm shoves forward, attempting to throw her off balance.

Trip attempt 13 against your CMD. I provoke an AOO, which needs to be resolved before I continue.

Arbiter:
Full attack, fighting defensively. I'm not sure if I need to state what the second part of my full attack will be, but I intend for it to be a melee attack. ItsATrip!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Arbiter:

AoO with Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.

Trip attempt doesn't surpass my CMD.

Olwyn gracefully dodges the attempt to trip her and swings with a claw as Meng positions himself 20 to hit for 4 damage and of course, a DC 13 Fort save.

Let me know if that ends your turn.

M Hobgoblin

Indeed, seemed wimpy. AOO misses

The positioning was a feint, and Meng Ren siezes the initiative and commits to the true strike that he intended when Olwyn extends to strike his percieved vulnerability. He twists his heel as she strikes towards him; the true effort he was making towards. In one movement, he also strikes for her vitals.

Another trip attempt, which provokes again if you can. If you have an AOO and it hits, we can change the rest of my action, but for expedience, I'm combining these two. (failed) trip result 8 towards your CMD, attack 17 for 6 damage if hit.

Arbiter:
Immediate trip attempt, followed by second attack 9as part of previous flurry of blows). HaveANiceTrip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 and FistsOfFury: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 for HertzDamage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

The trip attempt failed by more than 10, so you fall prone. In case you have something to prevent falling prone, your attack is still not enough to hit my AC.

Olwyn dodges the trip attempt and his hidden strike as Meng falls prone.
No attempted AoO, so I believe it is now my turn.

Olwyn then unleashes a furious assault against the grounded hobgoblin:

Arbiter:

Swift Action: Ki Point for Ninja Attack Speed
First Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Second Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ninja Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Olwyn swings with her sharp feline claws and lashes out with razor sharp teeth finishing up with another swing of her claw.

23 to hit against a prone Meng (so -4 to AC for all of these) for 3 damage and a DC 13 Fort save. Followed by 11 to hit for 4 and a save, followed by 12 to hit for 3, followed by 19 to hit for 4 and a fort save.

M Hobgoblin

Lol whoops. Attacks miss.

He writhes like a snake, avoiding all of Olwyn's sharp attacks. Meng's feet swirl in a whirlwind as he rights himself, and his fist strikes for the catfolk.

provoke AOO standing up. Attack is 26 for 6 damage. Err, and I am hideously sorry, but that attack that 'hit' you earlier should have been a 20, not a 22. So, if that didn't hit your AC, please restore that damage. Sorry again :(

Arbiter:
Stand, attack. PoundEm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for HardKnuckles: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Whoops, I had meant for that to be defensively, but I forgot to subtract it. Errr, and uh, I just realized that I haven't been subtracting the FD penalty from my attack rolls. I am notifying my opponent in this post's ooc.

M Hobgoblin

And further, that earlier trip attempt would have been an 11. So if that would have made me prone, I would have stood and provoked again. If that happened, and you feel like making a free attack at your highest attack bonus will make up for it, than by all means, please do. I'm very embarrassed to have overlooked this. I hope you don't feel that it has damaged the integrity of our battle too much. I did make a rather important combat mistake, and if you do feel like this changes the battle too much, I will contact an arbiter and resign, if need be.

It doesn't look as though those changes made enough of a difference to affect the outcome, so I wouldn't worry about it. But thanks for the heads up.

Arbiter:

Claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Olwyn misses as she swings 17 to hit and takes a hard hit from the hobgoblin as he leaps to his feet.

Arbiter:

Move Action: draw oil of invisiblity using sleight of hand.
Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 10 - 20 ⇒ (1) + 10 - 20 = -9
Swift Action: Activate Swift-Runner shirt for extra move action

Free Action: Stealth Check

Olwyn draws a vial from her belt pouch, but fails to do so undetected. She then deftly retreats Acrobatics check of 30 vs your CMD to avoid AoO and seems to disappear as she moves to G6. Please make a perception check, and that ends my turn.

Perception check of 24 or greater:

Olwyn is hidden at E5.

M Hobgoblin

K, cool. Thanks for understanding.

attack misses

Meng Ren Rui watches Olwyn disappear around the pillar. He blinks, because she seems to disappear *before* she rounded the pillar. He eyes a corner that looks safe, and leaps towards it, retrieving a vial from his vest on the way.

No AOO. Move to E1. Perception failed.

Arbiter:
Move, if a potion counts as a weapon like item, I draw it as part of my move, and total defense. if it doesn't, I draw it as my next action.

Arbiter:

Olwyn moves to F3
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 + 20 ⇒ (4) + 11 + 20 = 35

Meng draws another vial and drinks it, standing motionless, like a statue, eyes unfocused.

Perception failed.

Following the initial claw comes a second claw 26 to hit against your AC for 7 damage and another DC 13 Fort save. And finally she attempts to sink her teeth into Meng 13 to hit for 5 damage.

M Hobgoblin

First attack hits but does not confirm. Second claw hits as well, teeth miss. Fort saves are 26 and the best time to nat 20. Total damage taken is 15, ouch!

Olwyn's claws slice deeply into Meng's flesh, and he grimaces as he fights off the poisons. His gaze immediately locks on Olwyn's cat eyes before he unleashes a furious assault.

First fist is 15 to hit for 11 damage, and the second is a crit threat with 19 to confirm, for 6 damage or 17 if it confirms.
