300-hundred page hardcover details the chief gods and goddess of Golarion.

New prestige classes, subdomains, and spells empower characters to be the champions of their deities.

Dozens of new traits, feats, and more unlock the power of the gods for every character class."

This is not speculation but confirmed fact, from the PaizoCon Banquet. The text is what appeared on the projectors, courtesy of some fine folks who took pictures and posted to Twitter and Facebook.

Note: Yes, this is a hardcover, but it is also for the Campaign Setting. We haven't seen campaign material in a hardcover for a while.

This is the proper sub-board for this, so please discuss!

I wonder if it is mostly a compilation of the articles from the AP line with the gods that haven't been detailed yet given the full treatment and with the addition of obedience rituals and boon like in Chronicle of the Righteous. I would really like something like that, even though I have all of the original articles.

I can also see this as being useful to those who use the gods of Golarion (which are presented in both the CRB and the APG) outside of the setting. It would work even better if there was a chapter to help GMs develop their own pantheons, but given that this is a Campaign Setting book I don't think that is likely to happen.

Oh yes, just in case it wasn't obvious.. the Title is "Inner Sea Gods" so I am definitely sure this is a campaign book, and not a Core book about gods in general.

I would have loved a hardcover book that has info, domains, favored weapons, etc. about real world religions like Greek, Japanese, Aztec, Norse, Egyptian etc. cultures. But this interesting as well and maybe will have some updated info on the core 20 and then some.

So this is focused on Gods of the Inner Sea specifically?
(or at least the broad definition of, i.e. Avistan and Garund)
i.e. no Tian or Casmar interlopers ;-)

Will we finally see the Caiden Caylean Paladin Archetype?
Hurling Smite? (requires sufficient 'Holy Water' preparation) ;-)

I wonder if anything on Aroden will show up?
Or the old Gods of pre-Worldwound Sarkoris...
Maybe Shimye-Magalla will get some more love, too.

The 'for any class' thing sounds cool... Rogues might finally have something to give juice to that miserable Sanctified Rogue Archetype (or reason to just forget it all together). Divine Champion Barbarians, Fighters, Cavaliers, Rangers... And don't forget the Holy Hand Grenade (Alchemists)!

Liberty's Edge

I imagine much of this is the Best Of god content from the Adventure Paths. While I imagine they're re-write, revise, and edit down the content as much as possible (so the APs are still useful for those that have them) it'll be nice for players not to have to hunt down rare volumes for information on their chosen gods.

Seems like a good idea. There are five classes that use divine magic and many other PCs that have a chosen god. It's a topic that can impact a lot of classes.
I like it more than Ultimate Strategy.

Like I said, a guide to building a pantheon would be nice but not going to be in this book.

:-)

I have the old 3.0 Deities and Demigods, so it's not like I really need such a thing. But for those who don't have access to that book or want a system that doesn't waste a large amount of time telling you how to give a god game stats, it would be a useful thing for Paizo to produce. It would have been a good addition to the Game Mastery Guide in my opinion.

Still, these are the deities who are given for clerics in the CRB. Since that book is not setting specific this could still have mechanical use for those who use the Pathfinder gods but not the setting. Even the fluff can at least be borrowed and modified to suit whatever campaign you run.

Since I am going to be running my next campaign in Golarion and am a Campaign Setting subscriber, I am really looking forward to this. Especially if the a fore mentioned rituals and boons are added in.

I'm super excited about this book. I really love all the various faith books and articles over the years, whether they were the old FR books from AD&D and the Faiths book from 3.5, to the various articles in Dragon, and the books that have since come out for Paizo.

I'm interested in what all extra gods they'll include. Even if each of the core 20 gets four pages, that's only 80, leaving them 220 to play with.

I'm hoping there's not too much compilation from the books that already exist, beyond what's in the APs. I kinda expect that and since I don't have most of them, I wouldn't mind. Heck even if I did own them all, it would be nice to have them all in one book.

What I do not want is the info from Faiths of Purity, Balance and Corruption, except maybe for the traits and spells.

Paizo historically does not reprint material.

Now I'm sure you could find some corner cases, like Kingdom Building rules from Kingmaker to Ultimate Campaign... but as I said, they're usually very conscious of how people feel about buying content twice. You'll be hard pressed to find very many instances of it.

Yeah, I am a little concerned about how much material is just rehashed from other sources. But I have confidence in Paizo. They have done a good job over the years avoiding that pit fall for the most part.

Here is where I am hoping to have content on gods that have only been given a few paragraphs, like Sivanah or Haspur.

That said, I am being optimistic that I will like this but I am going to have to wait to see if I will buy the book or just settle for the PDF.

A three hundred page Golarion deity hardcover? Ohohoho

I really wonder they will be doing for Oracles...

I wonder if gods will get stats with the new Mythic rules

Probably their heralds will. Maybe avatars?

Depends on what you mean by "reprint". I doubt it will just be a word for word compilation of AP articles, but I imagine a good chunk of the book will be refluffed/retconned info from the original AP articles.

And hopefully the Heralds will also show up, especially as they are too world specific for a Bestiary

You mean aside from all the stuff reprinted in Ultimate Equipment, right?

Which was constantly asked for. I've also seen plenty of people, myself included(I think), ask for the deity articles from the APs to be reprinted.

The APs each have I believe four pages or so per deity. Then you have the info from the ISWG, which is of course just a small overview, but still counts. Add in the stuff from the Faith books, and you're looking at a goodly amount already covered for the core pantheon.

Now, they need to fill a 300 page book, with brand new info? Even if you say have 100 pages that are full on crunch, spells, feats, PrCs, magic items, etc, that still leaves you with 200.

Minus the 80 I mentioned above for the core 20, and you still have 120 pages.

If this entire book is 100% brand new material, that would be incredibly awesome and make me even more likely than I already am to buy this book, I'll just also be rather surprised, in a good way.

Oh yes they do. Take a look through most of the AP gods material and compare it to the Faiths of books vs Gods and Magic, or the Inner Sea World Guide, vs the Gazeteer, vs the Campaign setting. The vast majority of their material is reprinted almost word for word, with small changes, usually a sentence here or there, where they typically want to present something in a different way than it originally was.

It will be great to have one "go to book" for an overview.

This has been one of the most consistently requested hardcovers since the very first few APs.

I'm going to ask you all to hold off on this discussion—the book will have a proper product page, with a proper product discussion thread, in just under half an hour. (I'm going to lock this thread.)
