playing "magical" beast as PC

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm thinking of something like Narnia - playing oversized intelligent Otters or something. The race builder thing in the PRD for the Advanced Race Guide didn't have rules for it - for plants, but not for magical beasts.

Did I miss something? Anywhere official I can turn for this? Just use from monster templates or whatever.

Nothing official no, but its your game do what you will.

Ratfolk and Catfolk are about as close as it gets right now.

Bummer.

I was in a session at a con many years ago in which most of us were ordinary forest animals except we were intelligent, could talk to each other, and had class levels. The raccoon was a rogue, for instance. It was huge fun, and I think it would be pretty easy to play this as a PC, except I am not sure how many "RPs" or whatnot would be needed to build a raccoon, or an otter, etc.

This may help: The Noble Wild

That's it! Great suggestion.

There's even a PF version, available as PDF from Paizo.
Thanks very much.

Bro, I wanna be a lion and maul goblins. That would be sick.

Bear Monk (tetori)
Lion Paladin (Simba!)

Raccoon rogues with their thieving little hands.

Recommend Noble Wild! We had a Wolf PC built as a 'Trip Fighter' that rocked.
