Serpents Skull - Advice needed

Serpent's Skull

In my game

Spoiler:
Yarzoth survived, and defeated the PC's completely.

They only did 7 HP's of damage, and had no choice but to run.

Now they have no notes, or anyway of going through to the next module.

I am thinking of running an additional encounter were she has used major image, disguise self and a peace of drift wood to get aboard the ship that is coming to rescue the PC's. She will Dominate the Captain, and use him as her new puppet.

When they arrive, the "innocent" young girl is going to accuse one of the PC’s and NPC’s of being pirates or something along those lines. And get the shipmates and Captain to attack.

The Shipmates are going to confused for a few rounds, as Gelik is an acquaintance of the Captain, and they know this to be false. But the captain will attack.

The fight will consist of the Captain, 4 of his shipmates, and Yarzoth vs some of the NPC’s and PC’s.

Would this be a good idea, or should I try something else.

Whoa Spoiler that info son!

spoiler:
I played in the AP and know what you are talking about. The defense abilities of Yarzoth are tough to beat. Your idea sounds like it should work out ok. You could also have a landing party from the ship. Have Yarzoth dominate the sailors and the PCs have to fight her to get control of the skiff

They ran away, and just gave up? They didn't go back after her? What the heck kind of PCs are these?

Spoiler:
My Yarzoth lived, too, but only because she barely managed to run away. Once she got away, I intended to use her as the ongoing antagonist and basically cut out most of the rest of the AP, since books 2 and 4 are horrendous and 5-6 are boring at best.

However, now I can't get the PCs to leave the island--they want to try and hunt her down and kill her. They won't let anyone in camp use the lighthouse--they even broke it further--until they find her.

The problem is, Yarzoth is disguised as Ieana again, and has convinced the PCs she was just a dominated slave of the serpentfolk, so they don't suspect her and literally can't find and kill her. I've even tried multiple major images of her dead body from far away, but they never believe it.

The fight began with an enthral, only a few failed.

The Chevalier was dominated and failed his save, and was ordered to protect her.

The PCs that were remaing destroyed the undead, and then went straight for her. Problem was this backed her into a corner, were only one PC could attack her at a time, this was the eidolon, that fell quickly.

Only 2 PCs were left, as the round before the oracle was knocked out by the camel.

The remaining PCs were a Magus, with no spells left and a summoner with no spells left or an eidolon.

The light will be fixed the day before the PC's get back, and a ship will be there the day after. So hopefully don't have to worry about that one.

Flagged for spoilers..:)

It seems like the adventure has been extended and you will have to do some impromput GM'ing. I would suggest to them, out of character, that they use divination spells to help themselves out.

Commune is a good start.

Other than the magus and summoner what casters are in the party?

Sounds like good fun,

Yarzoth:
Have her kill Jask*, and replace him. Then, use sculpt corpse to change Jask into her serpent form. (i know, not a cleric spell, but I think maybe she found something in the temple to Zura that might could give her the ability. Or even a Serpent folk ability to shed her skin and use it as a decoy could work.)

Let the adventure finish but unless the PC side with Sargava have "Jask" decide to go his own way and then use the government as "his" way to get to City. You can use the government as thorns in the side of the PC's for the rest of the adventure.

* this could be any NPC, you may not even have to decide, but leave it a mystery until the PCs pick thier faction and then make the enemy faction PC the one Yarzoth chose.

There is an orcale in the party as well.

Spoiler:
He tried to sneak past Yarzoth using invisibility, she has scent and took a bite out of him.

They are now 4th level. They fought her at 3rd level.

Also, I was thinking that I would kill off one of the NPCs and replace them instead. The major issue is they did not get the notes.

A few ideas I have instead of the Battle, is that she gets on board the ship as NPC, and her notes are stolen in the city. And copies are bought by each of the major factions, a thief has to make money somehow.

This leads to the expedition teams being built, and the PC’s being asked to join one. This also allows me to create Yarzoth as a main player, either within their faction, betraying them at a key point, or a rival.

added spoiler buttons for some posts and changed the thread title to something non-spoilery. Also moved it to the serpent's skull forum.

PC's Need Info:
Use the replace scenario. Then have the replaced NPC suggest that whatever the snake thing was needed to be dealt with. Get them to go back and suggest that if they wont go back and find out what it was after they will.

That way they can look at what the "snake person" was doing and find the dead body of the replaced NPC made to look like Yarzoth. Who appears to have bleed out from a "curse" of some sort.

Thanks Sara Marie!
